Review R1:
- M1 (#609): DriverHostActor.StopChild releases the instance's resilience state before evicting the hub.
- m2 (#597): DriverHostActor publishes ShouldServiceAsPrimary() to IDriverPrimaryRoleSource at start and on
cluster membership changes (deduped), so the native-ack gate denies in a pair's boot window.
- m4 (#601): ApplyCachedArtifact returns false on empty/malformed bytes; the cached revision is not adopted,
Direct mode goes Stale (no RUNNING FROM CACHE), FetchAndCache lands Steady-with-no-revision and a
re-dispatch of the same revision really applies.
- m3 (#603): LocalDbReplicationPolicy splits into CapturesChanges (PeerAddress||ApiKey, registration) and
SharesRowsWithPeer (ApiKey && (PeerAddress||SyncListenPort>0), alarm drain gate).
- m5 (#618): Program.cs catch-all filters HostAbortedException (design-time tooling).
- m6 (Cluster-002): ClusterRoleInfo seeds only Up/WeaklyUp members.

- Native-condition Acknowledge on a non-Primary node returns BadInvalidState (nothing
routed/applied/reported) via NativeAlarmAckPrimaryGate, fed from
IDriverPrimaryRoleSource by OtOpcUaServerHostedService.
- A re-ack carrying a comment reports one comment event (Acked/Confirmed unchanged).
- TimedShelve applies its requested duration and the scripted projection carries
UnshelveAtUtc, so ShelvingState/UnshelveTime counts down instead of ~24.8 days.
- Native re-ack still routed to the driver (deliberate: documented retry path), pinned.
- AdminUI /alerts client ack/shelve path test; docs/AlarmTracking.md decisions incl.
accepted SDK EventsMonitored residual (item 6).
- Also #599/03/S20: RemoveEquipmentSubtree severs inverse Organizes edges.

The drain gate counted SyncListenPort; a port with no ApiKey shares nothing (fail-closed
passive endpoint), and an ApiKey-only passive node shares its queue but was never gated.

ConfigureSharedLogger had no production caller, so the pool's only
diagnostics (first-wins options conflicts, scheduler/close failures)
went to NullLogger. DriverFactoryBootstrap now configures it from the
driver registry factory and from the AbCip/AbLegacy probe factories
(admin-only nodes reach the pool only through Test Connect). Wiring tests
reset the pool to a null logger first, so removing the call goes red
(verified).

The old AdminUI cannot author the per-driver transport key (#576), so the
'pin before upgrading' recipe had no working path. A node-level appsetting
(env Drivers__AbCip__DefaultTransport) now supplies the default for AbCip
drivers with no key: explicit key > node default > compiled Native. Bound
and validated unconditionally (bad value fails host start); the driver
factory and the Test Connect probe both read it so they agree. AbCip.md
upgrade recipe rewritten around the key; Configuration.md documents it.
Also documents first-wins for AllowPacking/probe and host-alias throttles
(final review M6) and moves the status-bit note out of AbCip.md (M5).

- AbCip/AbLegacy driver forms gain a Transport InputSelect; FromOptions/ToOptions now carry
Transport, so saving any other field no longer silently reverts Native to libplctag.
- Both drivers log the constructed transport once per init.
- AbCip factory now takes the host ILoggerFactory (it ran on NullLogger in production, hiding
every AbCip log line); DriverFactoryBootstrap passes it.
- Gate results: AdminUI /run (T19) native, inverted (dead port) and libplctag legs.
BoundedApiKeyStore bounded ConfigDbApiKeyStore with a
CancellationTokenSource(TimeSpan, TimeProvider) linked into the inner call. That
bounds the call only if the callee chooses to observe the token, and
Microsoft.Data.SqlClient does not while a connect/login is in flight on a
black-holed socket. The 2026-08-20 live gate paused the SQL container and watched
a keyed activation hang 42.9 s past its 2000 ms bound — the "did not answer
within 2000 ms" Warning fired only at unpause — and because this runs inside the
SDK's synchronous SessionManager-lock-holding impersonation callback, an
unrelated already-open subscription stalled 57 s behind it. That is precisely the
hazard the bound exists to prevent, and the TTL cache cannot help a miss.
BoundAsync now races the inner call against Task.Delay on the injected clock with
Task.WhenAny. Inner wins: stop the timer, await it, faults and genuine caller
cancellation propagate unchanged. Delay wins: cancel the linked token anyway (a
cooperative inner store should still stop), hand the abandoned task to
ObserveAbandoned, meter outcome=timeout, log the now-honest Warning, and throw
OperationCanceledException — the same exception the authenticator's catch-all
already maps to the standard opaque denial. Fail-closed is unchanged: nothing
here can admit.
ObserveAbandoned disposes the CTS and TOUCHES finished.Exception (the observation
itself), so a late SqlClient fault can never become an UnobservedTaskException.
Debug, not Warning — the timeout is already reported at Warning, and an outage
must not produce two lines per activation for one event.
An abandoned answer is NEVER cached: it was taken before the deadline and would
be served after it, so a key revoked or expired in the meantime could be admitted
from a lookup nobody was still waiting for. StoreTimeoutMs <= 0 still
short-circuits to the unbounded call byte-for-byte (the documented rollback).
RED BEFORE GREEN. Every pre-existing deadline test drives GatedApiKeyStore, whose
waits take the token, so a cooperative CancelAfter unblocks them and all 15
passed against the defective build — the suite could not see the gate's failure
at all. The new UncooperativeApiKeyStore ignores ct entirely and completes only
when the test releases it. Against the unmodified store the three new tests fail
3/18 with "should throw OperationCanceledException but threw TimeoutException"
under a test-side WaitAsync(2 s), so the red is a failure and not a hang — and
that exception swap IS the finding restated as an assertion.
Host.Tests 137/137.
MapZbLocalDbSync returns IEndpointRouteBuilder, not an IEndpointConventionBuilder,
so .AllowAnonymous() cannot be chained onto it the way the other four mesh maps
are (T2). app.MapGroup(string.Empty).AllowAnonymous().MapZbLocalDbSync() carries
the same convention while leaving the gRPC route pattern byte-identical -
verified directly (LocalDbSync_AllowAnonymousGroup_LeavesTheRoutePatternByteIdentical).
The census's RealMethodEndpoints filter had to move off a "route pattern starts
with /" heuristic to an exact-route-pattern-set match: inside the empty-prefix
group, grpc-dotnet's own "Unimplemented service"/"Unimplemented method" fallback
endpoints also gain a leading "/", so the heuristic let them back in and
over-counted (caught by DriverOnly_WithASyncPort_AlsoMapsTheLocalDbSyncEndpoint
and LocalDbSync_AllowAnonymousGroup_LeavesTheRoutePatternByteIdentical going red
against the naive filter before this fix).
All five mesh gRPC endpoints now carry IAllowAnonymous (archreview 03/S14, T3).
.AllowAnonymous() on DeploymentArtifactGrpcService, CentralCommandGrpcService,
TelemetryStreamGrpcService and NodeCommandGrpcService — the four MapGrpcService
maps that are chainable. On a login-enabled admin node the global cookie
FallbackPolicy (RequireAuthenticatedUser) applies to every endpoint without
explicit authorization metadata, gRPC included; the PSK bearer interceptors run
INSIDE the endpoint invocation, strictly after that middleware, so a
correctly-keyed node call was challenged before the interceptor's verdict could
matter. Safe because all four interceptors fail closed on an unset key.
The census now asserts IAllowAnonymous on all four (red before this change,
green after) plus a scope guard proving the opt-out never leaks onto an
unrelated endpoint. MapZbLocalDbSync (T3) is not chainable the same way and is
asserted absent here on purpose, so this test cannot start passing for the
wrong reason once T3 lands.
Behaviour-preserving: Program.cs:743-784 collapses to a single call, same gates,
same order, every existing per-map rationale comment carried over. A new
endpoint-metadata census (MeshGrpcAnonymousMetadataTests) drives the SAME
production mapper across all three role shapes (admin-only / driver-only /
fused), so the guard can never assert a shape production no longer has -

IMPORTANT - the leak filter had its own flake vector. This test saturates the
thread pool by design, and TimedScriptEvaluator starts its 5s clock at WaitAsync
rather than when the inner Task.Run gets a thread, so a legitimately-enqueued
evaluation can blow the budget while still queued and surface "script timed out
after 5.0s". The reason != exhaustion filter classified that as a raw disposed
escape and hard-failed on it - handing the test back the load-fragility the
reshape removed. Timeouts are now their own bucket, tolerated and rate-bounded
exactly as exhaustions are; a raw disposed escape still fails on first occurrence.
Doc-comment names this second residual vector alongside the exhaustion calibration.
MINOR (scope extension authorised by review) - "evaluator disposed during
evaluation" existed as three unshared literals. Promoted to
ScriptEvalFailureReasons alongside VirtualTagEvalResult in Commons.Engines (the
assembly all three already reference) and referenced from both evaluators and the
test. The timeout prefix joins it, since the test now classifies on it too. String
values are byte-identical - no behaviour change.
Falsified: with a 12ms script budget the race produced real timeouts (3/2695).
Classified as leaks (the pre-review filter) they hard-failed the test 6/6 items;
bucketed as starvation they sit 0.11% under the 10% bound and the test is green.
Review round on 3e62f161. Two coverage gaps and three wording/comment nits.
IMPORTANT 1 — deregistration is now proven DATA-PRESERVING. The self-heal test
inserted a deployment_pointer row and rebooted unconfigured but never looked at
the row again, so a library regression that touched base-table data during
cleanup would have gone unnoticed — on the very tables that ARE the
boot-from-cache backstop, and on the default-OFF nodes least likely to notice.
The new DisablingReplication_PrunesBookkeepingButNeverTouchesTheCachedDataItself
asserts the row's CONTENT survives (not just its count — a count passes against
a cleanup that blanks columns) while __localdb_row_version and __localdb_oplog,
the bookkeeping deregistration does own, go to zero.
IMPORTANT 2 — mid-loop partial failure is documented and pinned. Both loops flip
four tables with no try/catch, so a throw on the third leaves two flipped and
propagates out of the AddZbLocalDb singleton factory, failing host start. That
is correct — a node that came up anyway would be silently capturing on an
arbitrary subset — and both library calls are idempotent, so the retried boot
completes the flip. Written into OnReady's remarks and pinned by
AFailureMidwayThroughRegistration_FailsBootLoudly_AndTheRetriedBootConverges,
which drives OnReady through a delegating ILocalDb that throws on the Nth
RegisterReplicated, asserts the throw propagates, asserts the wrapper actually
reached that call, then re-runs OnReady unwrapped and asserts all four converge.
MINOR 3 — the Boot helper now records that OnReady's null-logger fallback lands
on Serilog's static Log.Logger, which this assembly never assigns; assertions
about logging pass an explicit logger.
MINOR 5 — log wording: "are both unset" -> "are both absent — unset or blank",
matching IsNullOrWhiteSpace.
MINOR 4 — LocalDbDeploymentArtifactCacheTests said its setup "mirrors
LocalDbSetup.OnReady"; it reproduces the two tables only and registers them
unconditionally without baselining. Softened to say so and to name the
divergence as intentional and inert there.
Falsified both new pins. Wrapper set to failOnCall: 99 (never throws) => the
partial-flip pin is the SOLE failure, so it genuinely exercises the Nth-call
throw path rather than some incidental exception. Predicate forced constant-true
=> five pins red including the new data-preservation one. Both mutations
reverted.
LocalDbSetupTests 15/15. Host.IntegrationTests 226 passed / 0 failed / 5
skipped. Runtime.Tests LocalDbDeploymentArtifactCacheTests 12/12.
LocalDbSetup.OnReady registered all four replicated tables unconditionally on
every driver node, replicating or not. That was not merely wasteful (an
unreplicated node paid two INSERTs plus a json_object of the whole row inside
every write transaction, for an oplog nothing ever drained) — it made
baselineExistingRows unusable, so enabling replication on a long-running
default-OFF node converged on SUBSEQUENT WRITES ONLY and the rows already in the
file stayed invisible to the peer, silently and forever.
Registration now follows one predicate, LocalDbSetup.ReplicationIsConfigured:
LocalDb:Replication:PeerAddress OR :ApiKey non-blank. The OR is load-bearing —
only the dialling half of a pair sets PeerAddress, so keying on it alone would
strip capture from every passive node and the pair would converge in one
direction only. SyncListenPort deliberately does not join it: the passive
endpoint is fail-closed on the key, so a port with no ApiKey syncs with nobody.
configured => RegisterReplicated(table, baselineExistingRows: true), per
table, in the unchanged load-bearing DDL->register order
unconfigured => DeregisterReplicated(table), an idempotent boot self-heal that
drops the capture triggers an earlier build left behind and
prunes that table's oplog/row-version rows. One Information
line, only when it actually cleaned something.
PAIR SYMMETRY: the sync handshake compares registered-table digests fail-closed,
so flipping either key is a both-nodes-together change — set it on both and
restart both. Documented in CLAUDE.md, docs/Configuration.md and the replication
runbook (which claimed "this repo never calls DeregisterReplicated").
Verified against the pinned LocalDb 0.2.1: RegisterReplicated(string, bool) and
DeregisterReplicated(string) -> bool both exist; baselining seeds
__localdb_row_version at HLC 0 and the deregister return value distinguishes
"cleaned" from "nothing to clean". No pin bump needed.
Tests: LocalDbSetupTests gains pins for both branches (configured via
PeerAddress alone and via ApiKey alone; unconfigured => no tables, zero
triggers; late-enable => an HLC-0 baseline ledger entry; the log line fires once
and only when something was cleaned) — four went red against the old
unconditional code, and all four go red again under a constant-true predicate.
LocalDbWiringTests splits its exact-set pin into a replicating graph and a
default-OFF one. LocalDbPairHarness and AlarmSfLegacyMigratorTests built their
database from LocalDb:Path alone while configuring the replication engine from a
second config — production reads one configuration, so the two are now aligned.
Host.IntegrationTests: 224 passed, 0 failed, 5 skipped.
Closes the pin skew against ScadaBridge (which already pins 0.2.1). Pure pin
bump — no code change was required:
- `RegisterReplicated(string)` still delegates to `baselineExistingRows: false`,
so `LocalDbSetup.OnReady` is byte-identical in behaviour.
- Everything 0.2.x added is additive (`DeregisterReplicated`, `MaxBatchBytes`,
the `baselineExistingRows` overload); none of it is called here.
- The wire protocol is unchanged (0.1.x peers still sync) and the on-disk
bookkeeping schema v1 -> v2 upgrades in place on open, so no rig, volume or
operator action is needed.
The one thing that DID need reconciling is documentation. 0.2.0 made batching
byte-budgeted: `MaxBatchBytes` (2 MB default, under the 4 MB gRPC cap) now
bounds the wire message, and `MaxBatchSize` is demoted to a secondary row cap
plus the DB read-page size. The rig's `MaxBatchSize = 16` was chosen as a
hand-computed byte proxy ("row-count-only against gRPC's 4 MB cap"), and that
rationale is now wrong everywhere it appeared — appsettings, Configuration.md,
the pair-replication runbook, and both docker-dev site-a services.
The VALUE stays 16, for a different and still-real reason: OplogStore /
SnapshotStreamer materialise a whole read page in memory *before* the
byte-budget split runs, so 16 x ~171 KB artifact chunk rows bounds that
transient allocation at ~2.7 MB. Documented as such, with `MaxBatchBytes`
added to both config tables.
CLAUDE.md records the pin and two deliberate non-adoptions: this repo does not
take ScadaBridge's conditional-registration + boot-time `DeregisterReplicated`
self-heal (OnReady registers all four tables unconditionally, and
LocalDbSetupTests pins that set), and consequently does not use
`baselineExistingRows` either — so enabling replication on a long-running
default-OFF node converges on subsequent writes, not on rows already in the
file. Both are behaviour changes, out of scope for a pin bump.
Verification: solution builds clean; full suite run (57 projects). All 66
LocalDb tests in Host.IntegrationTests green. One unrelated failure,
RoslynVirtualTagEvaluatorTests.Evaluate_racing_ClearCompiledScripts_never_
fails_with_disposed — a Roslyn evaluator disposal race with no LocalDb in its
path, whose own comment documents that its "at most one clear per evaluation"
assumption depends on thread-pool pressure. It passed 3/3 re-runs in isolation
and fails only under full-solution parallel load; pre-existing test-design
fragility, not a regression from this bump.
Gitea #561 ("production writes a 0-byte log") is closed as not-a-defect. The
production log on wonder-app-vd03 listed as 0 bytes with LastWriteTime ==
CreationTime; opening it showed 4,658,893 bytes of correct output, written
continuously since service start.
On Windows the directory entry's size and last-write time are not refreshed while
the writing process holds the file open, so Get-ChildItem, dir and FileInfo.Length
all report size-at-open for the life of the handle. A live, healthy log is
indistinguishable from a dead sink by metadata alone — which is what made the
false reading survive six weeks of investigation.
That same trap was in the 29a202f5 instrumentation: CheckFileSinkGrowth measured
with FileInfo.Length, so it would have reported "self-check FAILED: the sink did
not grow" at every boot on a perfectly healthy Windows service — and a
self-check's false positive reads as confirmation of the very bug it was added to
find. MeasureFamilyBytes now reads Length through an opened FileStream:
FileShare.ReadWrite to open it at all while the sink holds its write handle, and
FileShare.Delete so the probe never blocks a roll or retention delete.
Both instruments are kept. A sink that cannot write its file is still a real and
otherwise-invisible failure — a sibling repo reproduced it via handle contention,
where RollingFileSink logs the lock-out to SelfLog and falls through to _001. Only
the two doc claims that are now false are corrected: the class summary's
"production ran that way for six weeks" and the warning text's "#561 failure mode".
Tests: A_working_file_sink_passes already measured while Serilog held the file
open — precisely the broken case — and passed throughout, because it only ever ran
on macOS, where the length is honest. That platform blindness is now recorded in
the class summary, alongside two tests pinning the sharing contract the fix
depends on.
Four-minor jump 0.2.3 → 0.6.2. The release line exists because a deploy
renaming the app directory took the MxGateway credential store with it
(2026-08-09, two silent days): Secrets:SqlitePath must now be absolute AND
outside the content root, rejected at boot rather than relocated. 0.6.2 over
0.6.1 is message-only (the rejection text now teaches the mounted-volume
case and forecloses the override hunt) — the live rig evidence below was
gathered at 0.6.1 and the validator behavior is identical.
Adoption changes beyond the pins:
- appsettings.json drops the relative "otopcua-secrets.db" (now boot-fatal);
dev gets the library's absolute per-user default, deployments supply their
own (wonder already pins an absolute out-of-root path in the service env).
- Program.cs's pre-host ${secret:} expander now calls the FOUR-argument
AddZbSecrets with builder.Environment.ContentRootPath. This call site is
the actual fix, not the pin: the throwaway container has no
IHostEnvironment, and without the explicit root the under-content-root
rule is skipped at exactly the moment the migrator creates the store file
(the 0.6.0 defect). Do NOT simplify back to the 3-argument overload — it
compiles and silently reopens the gap. Pinned by a Program.cs source-scan
test AND a runtime falsification control that RUNS the migration and
demonstrably creates the store at the rejected path under the 3-arg form.
- docker-dev: Secrets__SqlitePath moves /app/data → /data via a SECOND mount
of the same per-node volume (same file at the volume root, so seeded
stores carry over) because /app is the container's content root and the
new rule correctly rejects it. LocalDb stays on /app/data (secrets-only
rule).
- SecretsStorePathValidationTests: positive-control probes, artifact-first
(relative and in-content-root paths must FAIL leaving no file; outside-
root passes; the no-explicit-root control proves the file assertions can
fail) — a clean boot is equally consistent with the validator never being
wired.
Live-verified on the six-node docker-dev rig (at 0.6.1): all nodes boot
under the new validation with stores at /data; an AdminUI-written secret
converged into BOTH central nodes' independent stores; site-a held only its
own pair's secrets (Phase 6 pair-local isolation intact). Replicator wire
behavior unchanged 0.3.0–0.6.x per CHANGELOG; registration-graph pins and
the full suite pass.
Production ran six weeks with a healthy process and a 0-byte log because
Serilog isolates per-sink failures: a file sink whose every write fails is
invisible from anywhere but SelfLog, which was not enabled. Two instruments:
- LogPipelineDiagnostics.EnableSelfLog (before the first logger builds):
SelfLog to logs/serilog-selflog.txt (rotated at 5 MB) + stderr — the only
channel that carries the exception the sink swallows.
- CheckFileSinkGrowth (after the startup banner): verifies each configured,
unbuffered file sink's rolled-file family physically grew across a marker
event; a silent sink is reported at boot via SelfLog/stderr and the
console sink instead of discovered months later. Growth-across-marker,
not existence — a previous run's bytes must not mask a silent sink (the
false pass an existence check would have given on wonder-app-vd03).
Never throws: both instruments swallow their own failures — a diagnostics
channel that can fail startup is worse than the defect it watches for.
The load-bearing test is the failure case (a sink that writes nothing IS
reported); a check that can only pass is indistinguishable from no check.
The Secrets:Replication _comment claimed the feature was KNOWN NON-FUNCTIONAL
against ZB.MOM.WW.Secrets.Replicator.AkkaDotNet 0.2.0 and said "do not enable
until the library is fixed". That has been false since 0.2.2 — 0.2.1 fixed the
shadowed ISecretReplicator registration and 0.2.2 the hosted-process DI
deadlock — and the 2026-08-07 three-mesh live gate proved replication works
(PASS 4/4, docs/plans/2026-08-07-secrets-pair-local-live-gate.md).
Replaced with the truthful operator-facing note: functional since 0.2.2, still
default-off, PAIR-LOCAL in scope (mesh Phase 6 gives each application cluster
its own 2-node mesh, so a secret converges within its pair and nowhere else),
same KEK required per pair, and rewrap-all runs per node because re-wraps do
not replicate.
Comment-only; no behaviour change.

ConfigServeAuthInterceptor and LocalDbSyncAuthInterceptor gained HasExactlyOnePublicConstructor
pin tests in this branch but lacked the sibling-standard <remarks> paragraph naming them
(TelemetryStream/MeshCommand/CentralCommand all carry it). Cosmetic consistency item from the
#543 code review.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_014WNM4vjoVksyyBraTXSZE1
TelemetryStreamAuthInterceptor, ConfigServeAuthInterceptor and
LocalDbSyncAuthInterceptor all decided "is a key configured?" with
string.IsNullOrEmpty. A whitespace-only configured value therefore passed
that guard and fell through to the constant-time comparison — where it is
satisfied by a whitespace-only bearer token. The gate would be open to
anyone who guessed a blank credential.
This backports the check the two NEW mesh interceptors already use:
MeshCommandAuthInterceptor (and its central-side clone) validate with
string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace, so the four/five planes now answer the same way
to the same misconfiguration. Nothing else changes — the denial status
codes (PermissionDenied / Unauthenticated / PermissionDenied respectively)
and every denial message are untouched, and no key material is logged.
No deployment configures a whitespace key: the docker-dev rig and
production both set real keys, so this is a fail-closed hardening of an
unreachable-today misconfiguration rather than a live exposure.
Tests: each of the three test files gains a ..._WithBlankKeyConfigured_IsDenied
fact mirroring MeshCommandAuthInterceptorTests.ExecuteMethod_WithBlankPskConfigured_IsDenied
(configured key " ", presented "Bearer "), verified red before the fix.
ConfigServeAuthInterceptor and LocalDbSyncAuthInterceptor also gain the
HasExactlyOnePublicConstructor pin their two siblings already had —
Grpc.AspNetCore silently stops invoking an interceptor with more than one
public constructor, which would disable auth without failing anything.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_014WNM4vjoVksyyBraTXSZE1
MeshGrpcBoundaryTests replaces the MeshClusterClientBoundaryTests deleted in step 1. Three
self-seeded single-member clusters sharing the ActorSystem name, joined ONLY by gRPC, driving
the REAL CentralCommunicationActor -> MeshGrpcCommandDialer -> Kestrel h2c ->
MeshCommandAuthInterceptor -> NodeCommandGrpcService -> NodeCommunicationActor -> EventStream:
1. No_cross_mesh_Akka_association_forms_between_central_and_either_site — the program's own
point, kept as a test rather than a live-gate note: each cluster stays single-member and
none ever holds another's address as a member.
2. One_dispatch_through_central_reaches_a_node_in_every_cluster_mesh — the fan, with each
site holding its OWN per-cluster PSK, so a dial that selected the wrong cluster's key
would be refused at the far side.
3. Falsifiability_control_a_dial_carrying_the_wrong_cluster_key_delivers_nothing — without
it, (2) cannot distinguish "the gRPC boundary carried it" from "something else in the
process did". The same node then accepts the right key, so the silence is the auth gate
and not a dead endpoint.
All three run fully offline — no Docker fixture — and pass.
Comment sweep across every remaining clusterclient|receptionist hit in src/ and tests/:
the program label becomes "mesh gRPC command plane", and every comment that described the
deleted transport as live now describes what actually runs (Dps = pair-local default,
Grpc = cross-mesh). mesh_transport.proto's header/service comments are reworded; no message,
field or enum is touched — the contract is locked. MeshCommActorPathTests is reshaped rather
than retired: the two paths still exist and still matter, but what a mismatch costs is now a
misleading Unavailable from the gRPC ingress rather than a silently dropped receptionist send.
The only surviving mentions of the old names are the ones that must survive: the fail-closed
rules that name "ClusterClient" as a retired value refused at boot, their tests, and this
test class's own account of what it replaces.
MeshGrpcCommandDialer places one NodeCommandService.Execute call on one
node: a GrpcChannel cached per endpoint (the GrpcDeploymentArtifactFetcher
shape), the TARGET node's cluster's bearer plus x-otopcua-cluster naming
that cluster, and a per-call deadline linked to the caller's token. A
cluster with no resolvable key is refused locally with Unauthenticated —
there is no arm on which a command leaves central unauthenticated, even
one the far side would have rejected.
CentralCommunicationActor gains the third mode branch. The contact load
now also projects GrpcPort and, from the SAME rows in the SAME pass,
builds the dispatch set — which is what makes 'the gRPC fan reaches
exactly the SendToAll recipient set' structural rather than two queries
that have to keep agreeing. A row with a null GrpcPort is skipped
warn-once (the TelemetryNodeSource precedent). Per-node results are
piped back for LOGGING ONLY: named node, gRPC status, dropped. No retry,
no queue.
Every dial is scheduled on the thread pool rather than called from the
receive. Found by review and pinned red-first: an async method runs
synchronously to its first await, and the dialer's pre-await work is
TryGetPsk, which blocks on the secret store — bounded but seconds, and
repeated after every refresh since the refresh drops the cache. Dialing
inline parked the actor's mailbox, so deployment acks queued behind a
slow node; the regression test tells an ApplyAck while a dial is held
and fails without the hop.
The contact refresh also wires the Phase 1A register: it publishes the
loaded cluster ids as the PSK provider's known-cluster set and drops the
key cache, so a rotated key takes effect within one ContactRefreshSeconds.
Neither happens under Dps or ClusterClient.
Both existing mode branches are behaviourally untouched and every
existing fact passes unmodified. The one edit to shared text: the
Status.Failure warning drops the word 'ClusterClient', since that handler
now serves all three transports.
ControlPlane.Tests 205 -> 230, Host.Tests 92, Cluster.Tests 184, 0 warnings.
