The tests probe a free port (bind 0, release) and start the SDK server later; under a
highly parallel run another test can take the port in between and the SDK fails with
'Failed to establish tcp listener sockets for Ipv4 and IPv6.'. OpcUaHostStart.StartAsync
builds a fresh host + server on a fresh port per attempt (up to 5) when the failure is a
bind failure; all 45 start sites in OpcUaServer.Tests, OpcUaServer.IntegrationTests and
Runtime.Tests use it. Per-attempt GUID ApplicationUris are hoisted out of the host factory
because a changed URI against a reused PKI store fails with 'Cannot access private key'.

MAJOR-1: a deploy that changes a driver's config respawns it, and the fresh instance's empty told
record re-sent Raise for every still-active alarm, un-acking acknowledged conditions and writing a
duplicate "Activated" alerts row. NativeAlarmProjector now treats Raise on an already-active
condition as a re-statement (keeps Acked; ForwardNativeAlarm skips the alerts row); only Retrigger
(or inactive->active) un-acks. Sources whose upstream ack state is authoritative send Retrigger for
an unacked re-statement: OpcUaClient on first sight (no prior told), Galaxy for an unacked active
snapshot entry. Runtime E2E drives a FRESH FOCAS driver after a redeploy and asserts the ack survives.
MAJOR-2: a failed FOCAS alarm read annotates each subscribed condition BadNoCommunication once per
outage (#626 quality-only path) with one Warning (MINOR-6), lifted to Good on recovery; failed alarm
reads degrade driver health with LastSuccessfulRead frozen (successful ones advance it), so an
alarm-only driver trips the #527 comms-loss watchdog.
MINOR-3 CLAUDE.md #630 bullet; MINOR-4 split line; MINOR-5 a non-empty cnc_rdalmmsg2 payload that
fits neither stride throws; MINOR-7 value-tag + parsed-address tables are built and swapped, never
cleared in place under the retained poll engine. Docs corrected (FOCAS.md, AlarmTracking.md, CLAUDE.md).

Re-review of 3de2cc3b/454775c6:
- AlarmTransitions could not reach (inactive, unacked): (active,acked)->(inactive,unacked) emitted Clear
(host stayed acked) and a first-seen cleared-unacked condition emitted nothing. The table is now total;
an exhaustive test replays every (prior, target) pair through the projector's semantics.
- The per-RawPath read-compute-emit was a lock-free TryGetValue/set across SDK publish threads; it now runs
under one lock with the projection and emission.
- Condition BRANCH events (non-null BranchId) were projected (flipping the trunk) and remembered as the ack
target (acking the branch); they are dropped. BranchId is select clause 9.
- EventId is copied, not aliased from the decoded notification.
- An unchanged state re-emitted Unspecified; it now emits nothing unless message/severity changed (an
Unspecified projects from the host projector's default after a redeploy reset it).
- Exact upstream severity rides OpcUaSeverity (#626) instead of being re-bucketed.
- ShutdownAsync no longer forgets the last-told state: a reinit re-subscribes the same set and the refresh
would otherwise re-raise every acked alarm. A CHANGED set (host rebuilt) forgets it.
ConditionRefresh: called after the alarm event item is created, after an in-place reconnect (subscriptions
found on the new session by display name, since a recreate clones them) and on RefreshRequired. Refresh
markers are never projected. BadNotSupported/BadMethodInvalid/... logs once. Wire test: a condition already
active before subscribe is reported Raise; a release+resubscribe refresh re-raises nothing (falsified by
disabling the refresh call).
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
A full RebuildAddressSpace recreated every native Part 9 condition inactive +
acknowledged, and when the alarm-tag set was unchanged (e.g. one
UnsTagReference added to an alarm-bearing raw tag) nothing re-told the new node
its state: the host does not re-subscribe for an unchanged set, and Galaxy /
OpcUaClient have no snapshot to replay anyway. Active alarms read normal until
their next device transition.
OtOpcUaNodeManager now captures each NATIVE condition's live state (from the
node, so a client-applied ack is kept) before the rebuild clears, restores it
when the same id is re-materialised native in the same apply, and reports ONE
condition event per restored off-normal condition at the new
IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink.CompleteAddressSpaceApply (after notifier wiring).
Unclaimed captures are discarded there, so a later re-add is fresh. Quality is
carried silently for normal conditions too (it is only re-annotated on a
connectivity edge). Scripted conditions are untouched (#487 re-asserts them).
OpcUaPublishActor calls CompleteAddressSpaceApply at the end of every apply.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
OtOpcUaNodeManager.MapSeverity re-bucketed every projected severity onto the
SDK's five EventSeverity values (<800 -> 700, else 900), defeating #626's exact
OpcUaSeverity: an MTConnect Fault (800) read and evented as 900; a scripted
alarm graded 1000 published 900 while /alerts said 1000; a native Low (200)
published 300. EventSeverity merely names points on the 1..1000 scale, so the
node now carries the value clamped to 1..1000 (ToPart9Severity), at
materialise, projection and in the delta gate.
MTConnect wire test now asserts Fault ActiveState=true/Severity=800 and the
Normal clear ActiveState=false/Retain=false/Severity=800.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
EventFilter.AddSelectClause(type, "ActiveState/Id") does not split the string;
it selects a single QualifiedName named "ActiveState/Id", which no event carries.
AckedState/Id, ActiveState/Id and EnabledState/Id therefore always arrived null
and Client.CLI 'alarms' (and Client.UI) reported every alarm inactive and
unacknowledged while a direct Read said Active. Pre-existing since a2883b82;
server-side event delivery was correct (proven with two-element select clauses,
incl. after #629). Select them with explicit two-element browse paths.
Over-the-wire test drives OpcUaClientService.SubscribeAlarmsAsync against the
in-process server (native + scripted); ServerEventRig now also selects
ActiveState/Id, Severity and Retain.

MTConnectConditionAlarmWireTests drives a scripted Agent's Fault/Normal through the real
driver, NativeAlarmProjector and sink to a client event subscription on the raw device
folder. docs/drivers/MTConnect.md replaces 'CONDITION v1: plain String' with the alarm
mapping, opt-in authoring, multi-condition, ack, replay and comms-loss behaviour, and a
live-check recipe; EVENT vocabularies as enumerations marked won't-fix. AlarmTracking.md
lists the MTConnect source and the two new AlarmEventArgs fields.

New() ran FindNodeInAddressSpace under Lock, taking other node managers' locks (lock-order
risk); the three AlarmConditionType_ShelvingState_* ids are now a static set. Adds wire tests:
TimedShelve/Unshelve by the condition's own instance method ids (object = condition or its
ShelvingState) succeed and report, and a ShelvedStateMachineType_* id call is pinned as
BadMethodInvalid with a positive control.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
Create(assignNodeIds: true) asked CustomNodeManager2.New, whose default returns the
node's current id, so every condition child kept the type's ns=0 instance-declaration id
(or an SDK-generated ns=0 number): translate of a child path returned BadNoMatch and a
Read of a browsed child id was BadNodeIdUnknown or served from the TYPE (UnshelveTime 0
on a condition timed-shelved for a minute), bypassing the data-plane ACL.
OtOpcUaNodeManager.New now derives {conditionId}/{browsePath} in the condition's
namespace, so the ACL scope of a child is its condition's scope plus the path. The
ShelvingState methods adopt their original AlarmConditionType_ShelvingState_* id as
MethodDeclarationId so clients calling them by that id still resolve. Condition removal
and rebuild forget the whole PredefinedNodes subtree so a removed condition's children
stop answering.

MAJOR-1: R4's exact element-type match refused ScadaBridge's CLR-list
writes (its element types are only Boolean/Int32/Float/Double/String/
DateTime) to every Int16/UInt16/Byte/UInt32/Int64/UInt64 array node and a
Double list to a Float array. EvaluateEquipmentWriteStructure now converts
a numeric array of another numeric element type element-wise, CHECKED, into
the node's element type and hands the converted array back through
OnEquipmentTagWrite's ref value, so the node stores and the driver receives
the node's own type. Any out-of-range, fractional-to-integer, NaN/Inf-to-
integer or Float-overflowing element refuses the whole write BadTypeMismatch
(nothing dispatched) - so the UInt32 -> Int32 bit reinterpretation stays
closed. Non-numeric mismatches stay refused. The wrong 'no client relies on
a looser rule' comment is corrected.
MINOR-1: the array-value-to-scalar-node refusal broke writes back to
browse-committed array tags (committed scalar, isArray never set) on
pass-through drivers. It now applies only when the owning driver's scalar
encoder cannot take an array (DriverArrayWriteSupport.
RefusesArrayValueOnScalarTag: Modbus, S7), carried RawTagPlan.
ScalarRefusesArrayValue / UnsReferenceVariable.BackingScalarRefusesArrayValue
-> EnsureVariable(refuseArrayOnScalar) -> a per-node set in the node
manager. OpcUaClient/Galaxy/others keep pre-#610 dispatch. Not on the
classifier whitelist (driver-type edit rebuilds); a mirror whose flag
changes is recreated, not updated in place.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
MAJOR-1: the SDK skips TypeInfo.IsInstanceOfDataType on any node with an
OnWriteValue handler (every writable equipment node), and the node manager's
fail-fast treated numeric<->numeric as compatible, so a UInt32[] to a Galaxy
Int32 array matched MxValueEncoder's int[] arm by CLR covariance and was
written bit-reinterpreted with a Good result. EvaluateEquipmentWriteStructure
now matches an ARRAY write's element type exactly (Byte[]/ByteString the only
equivalence; Variant[]/object[] refused) -> BadTypeMismatch, nothing
dispatched. MxValueEncoder's int[]/long[] arms are exact-type guarded too, and
the Galaxy parity test's false "the SDK refuses" premise is corrected (the
UInt32/UInt64 exclusion is now the encoder's own answer). Scalar writes keep
numeric widening by decision: consumers write CLR-typed values (Double to a
Float node) and every driver's scalar encoder range-checks.
MINOR: Modbus row honours maxRegistersPerWrite (smallest of DriverConfig /
the tag's DeviceConfig, default 123) and FC15's 1968-coil ceiling, and
requires region + numeric address; Modbus/S7/Galaxy require isArray + integer
arrayLength >= 1 (Galaxy: an unbounded node would let a short write resize the
attribute); an array value to a scalar node is refused inline. Docs: Uns.md
array-write rules + upgrade note (ReadWrite array tags become client-writable
on first boot), Modbus.md, Galaxy.md.

Review R1 M2: since #597 the SDK timer fires at real expiry, and OnTimedUnshelve routed an operator-style
Unshelve by 'system' from both pair nodes, pre-empting the engine's AutoUnshelve. The engine owns expiry,
so the callback now routes nothing. Integration test: an engine stand-in that acts on a routed Unshelve and
expires late, plus a wrapped OnTimedUnshelve (positive control: the SDK timer fired).
Review R1 m1: Part9StateMachine.ApplyAcknowledge records a commented re-ack as AddComment (persisted and
replicated) instead of a NoOp; an uncommented re-ack is still a no-op.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
Array nodes were forced read-only for every driver. A new single authority,
Core.Abstractions DriverArrayWriteSupport, says which (driver, element type)
pairs encode a whole-array write: Modbus (Coils / numeric HoldingRegisters),
S7 (Byte/Int16/UInt16/Int32/UInt32/Float32), OpcUaClient (pass-through) and
Galaxy (Boolean/Int32/Int64/Float/Double/String/DateTime). Everything else
stays read-only, so the server never advertises a write the driver refuses.
- Composer derives RawTagPlan.ArrayWritable + UnsReferenceVariable
.BackingArrayWritable at compose time (both seams, byte-parity); the
applier's one writability rule is Writable && (!IsArray || ArrayWritable)
for materialise and surgical paths, raw and UNS alike.
- ArrayWritable is on the classifier's surgical raw-tag whitelist and
mirrored on the UNS record (UnsReferenceBackingParityTests updated).
- Node manager refuses a wrong-length / non-array value on an array node
(BadTypeMismatch) and any IndexRange write (BadWriteNotSupported) inline,
before dispatch; WriteOperate/ACL gates and the revert are unchanged.
- Per-driver parity tests pin the table against the real Modbus write path,
S7 EncodeArrayBlock and Galaxy MxValueEncoder (UInt32/UInt64 excluded:
array covariance reinterprets their bits).
- Over-the-wire proof in OpcUaServer.IntegrationTests (ArrayWriteWireTests).
- ValueRank > 1 documented as out of scope by decision (docs/Uns.md).

- Native-condition Acknowledge on a non-Primary node returns BadInvalidState (nothing
routed/applied/reported) via NativeAlarmAckPrimaryGate, fed from
IDriverPrimaryRoleSource by OtOpcUaServerHostedService.
- A re-ack carrying a comment reports one comment event (Acked/Confirmed unchanged).
- TimedShelve applies its requested duration and the scripted projection carries
UnshelveAtUtc, so ShelvingState/UnshelveTime counts down instead of ~24.8 days.
- Native re-ack still routed to the driver (deliberate: documented retry path), pinned.
- AdminUI /alerts client ack/shelve path test; docs/AlarmTracking.md decisions incl.
accepted SDK EventsMonitored residual (item 6).

Review of 167a48bf (FIX-FIRST): making native Confirmed/Shelving method-owned produced over-the-wire
regressions — a native TimedShelve never expired, a native OneShotShelve was silently undone by
SetActiveState, an OPC UA ack left a native alarm Unconfirmed forever (ScadaBridge maps ConfirmedState),
and any local state was per-node, never reaching the redundant peer.
- Reverted: the driver projection owns native Confirmed/Shelving again.
- Native Confirm / OneShotShelve / TimedShelve / Unshelve return BadNotSupported with no event, as native
Enable/Disable already did. Scripted alarms keep every method.
- A native Acknowledge re-asserts ConfirmedState=true and the projection's Retain rule (Active || !Acked)
before its single report. The native condition starts Confirmed.
- The method path reports only when the state actually moved (before/after). A re-ack is silent and
restores the Confirmed/Retain that the SDK flips, so a scripted node never drifts from its engine.
AddComment always reports.
- Docs: native alarms support Acknowledge/AddComment only; the Secondary-node native-ack flap is documented.
Tests: refused native methods (5), native ack stays Confirmed through echo/clear/reactivate, scripted
TimedShelve expires with exactly one unshelve event, re-ack silent (native + scripted). Each fix falsified.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
#587 — a client Acknowledge/Confirm/AddComment/Shelve/Enable/Disable emitted no condition event: the SDK's
ReportStateChange is gated on AutoReportStateChanges (never set), and the engine re-projection found the node
already in the new state and was suppressed by the delta-gate. WireMethodTransitionReporting now wraps each
method's SDK handler and, on Good, reports exactly once via ReportConditionEvent, under Lock so the routed
re-projection cannot race in ahead of the SDK applying the state. Independent of the SDK's imprecise
AreEventsMonitored bookkeeping. The shelve methods' state is applied by the wrapper (the SDK never applies
it). Native conditions' Confirmed/Shelving are method-owned (NativeAlarmProjector's constants would re-report
every ack and undo every shelve). MaxTimeShelved set to int.MaxValue ms at materialise — Create() left it 0
and every TimedShelve failed BadShelvingTimeOutOfRange. Wrong "SDK auto-fires (E2)" comments fixed.
#588 — with ACL on, GeneralModelChange and AuditWriteUpdate events no longer go to Server.ReportEvent
(ungated to every i=2253 item): ReportToServerObject delivers them per item, a model change narrowed to the
Affected nodes the session may Browse (dropped when none), an audit write only with Read on its source plus
the SDK audit/encryption guard. Flag off: unchanged.
#586 review: materialise raises only the new condition's monitored unit (was a full O(N) reconcile per
condition ⇒ O(N²) deploys under Lock).
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
Review of 75e559f6:
- OnConditionReportEvent now mirrors MonitoredNode2's AuditEventState guard (only while Server.Auditing,
over SignAndEncrypt / https-uabinary). Conditions report their Part 9 method audit events through
themselves, so the first cut queued AuditConditionAcknowledge (i=8944) etc. to every i=2253 item with
auditing off -- the removed folder->Server forward used to drop them.
- ReconcileAllEventsMonitoring keeps one AreEventsMonitored unit on every materialised condition while any
i=2253 item exists (called from SubscribeToAllEvents, materialise, removal, rebuild), so
ConditionState.EventsMonitored() is true on a server whose only subscribers are Server-object items.
A protected SubscribeToEvents override no-ops all-events items, which stops the SDK's AddRootNotifier
(unsubscribe: true bug) taking that unit back from conditions rebuilt under a live item.
Flag-off over-the-wire coverage: Acknowledge/AddComment with and without a folder co-subscriber (no audit
event, transitions once each), EventsMonitored on/after-rebuild/off, rebuild survival with one copy per
event, native + scripted conditions once each, refresh once per condition with RefreshStart/End; plus an
ACL-on native-vs-scripted notifier-folder decision. Falsified: removing the audit guard reds both audit
cases; removing the reconcile reds the monitored test.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
Server-object (all-events) items bypassed the ACL entirely: the SDK attached them to every root
notifier's fan-out via SubscribeToAllEvents, and a root notifier with no direct subscriber forwarded
to the core Server object, which this node manager never sees.
- SubscribeToAllEvents override records the item and attaches it to nothing.
- Each condition's own OnReportEvent (fires once per event) queues the event to each recorded item
whose session holds Subscribe on the condition (RawPath) or any notifier folder it reports through
-- the per-folder path's question; otherwise mirrors MonitoredNode2.OnReportEvent.
- The root-notifier forward to the core Server object (OnReportEvent override) is dropped.
- ConditionRefresh on an i=2253 item is filtered the same way (once per condition).
- Revalidation is implicit: every event re-asks the authorizer (per-generation cache, key expiry and
revocation re-checked per call). Inert with Security:Acl:Enabled=false.
Over-the-wire tests: no-grant vs granted (positive control), created-before-deploy, revoke/restore by
deployment, key expiry with no tick, refresh, and flag-off. Falsified: disabling the filter, or
restoring the forward, turns the enforcement tests red.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
#562: direct event (alarm) monitored items are now tracked in a second map
(_eventItems, fed by the SubscribeToEvents override) and re-authorized by
RevalidateMonitoredItems on both triggers (DataPlaneAuthorityState.Changed and
AclRevalidationTimer). A denied item is detached via the SDK's own protected
SubscribeToEvents(unsubscribe: true) - never MonitoringMode.Disabled - and
re-attached on restore; a client delete of a stood-down item is absorbed.
Over-the-wire tests: revoke -> stop (positive control on a still-granted
notifier) -> restore -> resume; clock-driven expiry via the real timer with a
control session; delete-while-stood-down is not resurrected; unexpired
negative control. Server-object (all-events) subscriptions are documented as
outside the ACL (observed over the wire).
#563: DataPlaneAuthorizer.AuthorizeKeyUsable runs the FindUsableKey probe on
the WriteOperate and AlarmAck role gates regardless of Security:Acl:Enabled,
so an expired or deployment-disabled key loses its activation-time roles on
its open session. Anonymous (no key id) is unaffected; reads/subscriptions
stay ungated with the flag off. No new flag.
Docs: docs/security.md and the CLAUDE.md API-key/ACL section.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
Completes data-plane enforcement behind Security:Acl:Enabled. Read (every
attribute, not just Value), Browse, TranslateBrowsePath, CreateMonitoredItems,
SubscribeToEvents and SetMonitoringMode now consult scoped NodeAcl grants.
With the flag off nothing changes.
Four things went beyond the stage as written, each because leaving it out
would have made the feature look like it worked:
- Browse needed ancestor visibility. The trie inherits downward, and a client
reaches a deep node by browsing the nodes above it, so without this every
grant narrower than the cluster was authored, shipped and unreachable. It is
a separate non-inheriting marker, NOT a synthesized Browse grant on each
ancestor: the additive downward walk would carry such a grant from Plant onto
Plant/Siemens/dev9 and every other sibling subtree. Pinned by a test that
goes through the evaluator — probing the trie helper directly passes against
the broken design, because a sibling is absent from the trie either way.
- Revocation had to reach LIVE subscriptions. Every other operation re-asks per
request; a subscription is authorized once and then streams, and streaming is
how machine consumers actually read this server — so stopping only the
re-asking operations would have made revocation close to cosmetic.
IDataPlaneAuthoritySource gained a Changed event.
A denied item is queued BadUserAccessDenied and then DETACHED from its
MonitoredNode2 fan-out, not set MonitoringMode.Disabled. Disabling discards
the item's queued notifications, so the client is silenced without ever being
told why. The over-the-wire test caught this; the unit-level path reports the
item as stood down either way. Detaching is also reversible, so a restored
grant resumes the feed with no client action.
- The decision cache holds the grant WALK, not the decision. Grants and the
trie are fixed for a generation; a key's ExpiresUtc passes with the clock, so
caching the whole decision would let an expired key keep working until the
next deploy — the stage-5 open-session hole in a subtler form.
- TranslateBrowsePath is gated, without which browse filtering is decorative: a
client refused a browse asks TranslateBrowsePathsToNodeIds for the same path.
Found en route: UserAuthorizationState's staleness ceiling couples two clocks.
MembershipResolvedUtc is stamped from DataPlaneAuthorizer's TimeProvider while
IsStale is evaluated against TriePermissionEvaluator's; they are the same
instance in production and diverge the moment anything injects a test clock, at
which point the evaluator denies EVERYTHING with a verdict indistinguishable
from "no grant matched". Stage 5's claim that these predicates cannot fire was
accidentally true; they are now disabled explicitly.
Also fixed: ContinuationPoint.NodeToBrowse is the manager HANDLE, not a
NodeState. The declared type is object, so the wrong cast compiled cleanly and
silently yielded null — skipping the browse source gate entirely.
Falsified: disabling the transit marking reddens exactly the three tests that
assert transit works; implementing transit as an ancestor grant reddens the
sibling-leak test; skipping the fan-out detach reddens the revocation test.
Full solution suite green.
The stage 8 live gate has NOT run yet.

#519 — a driver's OPC UA status code now reaches a client with its sub-code intact.
DriverInstanceActor projected the driver's uint onto a 3-state Good/Uncertain/Bad enum
and OtOpcUaNodeManager re-expanded Bad to a bare 0x80000000, so BadNoCommunication,
BadTypeMismatch and BadNotSupported were indistinguishable on the wire and every
driver's status constants (incl. the 16 #497 had just corrected) were diagnostic in
logs only. Resolved by option (b): the raw uint rides AttributeValuePublished ->
AttributeValueUpdate -> IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink.WriteValue, OpcUaQuality is deleted, and
severity classification is a helper (OpcUaStatus.IsGood/IsUncertain/IsBad).
The surface was wider than the issue costed (41 files, not "the sink and 3
implementations"): OpcUaQuality had non-driver producers with no uint to carry.
Each got its natural code — BadInternalError for a failed virtual-tag script,
BadNoCommunication for driver comms loss — and ScriptedAlarmHostActor's pair of
mutually-inverse uint<->enum mappers is deleted, having round-tripped a code the
engine already held. AddressSpaceApplier's removal writes deliberately keep the
generic Bad: not losing a code the driver had is this issue; inventing one for the
deploy path is a separate call.
Behaviour change: WriteAlarmQuality fires its Part 9 event on a status-code change
rather than a severity-bucket change. While the annotation was 3-state those were the
same predicate; now a move between two Bad reasons changes what a subscriber reads.
New SDK-free named constants live on Commons.OpcUa.OpcUaStatus, and
StatusCodeParityTests is widened to cover them — that guard is reflection-driven, so
it can only see a named constant, never an inline literal.
#517 — the symptom is real but the issue named the wrong path and its fix was unsafe.
ShutdownAsync cannot race: DriverInstanceActor calls it from PostStop, after the
mailbox drains. (Core/Hosting/DriverHost, the one class with a concurrent GetHealth,
has no production call site.) InitializeAsync can: it runs on a fire-and-forget
Task.Run, and MTConnectDriver writes Healthy then starts loops that can throw into a
catch which disposes the client before writing Faulted.
Moving the write earlier, as suggested, inverts the terminal state — teardown drains
in-flight loops that write health as they unwind, so a late loop could leave Healthy at
rest with every connection closed. The fix is a bracket (conservative before, terminal
after), applied to MTConnect's init-failure path only; shutdown keeps its single
trailing write, and the rule plus the reachability table are documented on
IDriver.ShutdownAsync.
CalculationDriver.GetHealth returned a hard-coded Healthy that consulted nothing —
Healthy before initialize, after shutdown and after dispose. Now derived from _running.
Its test, named Health_is_always_Connected, asserted the defect and is replaced.
Every new guard was falsified by breaking the production code and watching it go red.
The two sub-code tests each assert two different Bad codes, since a single-code
assertion could pass against a hard-coded constant under the old projection.
Pre-existing failures, verified unchanged on a stashed tree and not chased: 4 in
Driver.AbLegacy.IntegrationTests (slc500/micrologix/plc5 fixtures not up) and 3 in
Host.IntegrationTests.

Part 9 ConditionType.Quality was never assigned; default(StatusCode)==Good
so every native + scripted condition reported Good unconditionally — a
comms-lost device still showed a healthy, inactive, Good condition (a
wrong-VALUE bug, distinct from the null-value #473/#475). Clients (and HMIs
bucketing on IsGood) could not tell "genuinely inactive" from "lost contact".
Layer 1 — make Quality a real, plumbed field:
- AlarmConditionSnapshot gains OpcUaQuality Quality (default Good).
- MaterialiseAlarmCondition sets it (native BadWaitingForInitialData, scripted Good).
- WriteAlarmCondition projects snapshot.Quality; the delta-gate gains a Quality
member so a quality-bucket change fires a Part 9 event.
Layer 2 — drive native quality from driver connectivity (a comms-lost driver
emits no alarm transitions, and an alarm-bearing raw tag has no value variable,
so quality can't come from either existing channel):
- DriverInstanceActor Tells parent ConnectivityChanged on Connected/Reconnecting.
- DriverHostActor fans it to every native condition the driver owns as
OpcUaPublishActor.AlarmQualityUpdate (Good on connect, Bad on disconnect).
- New dedicated IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink.WriteAlarmQuality sets ONLY Quality and
fires only on a bucket change — never touches Active/Acked/Retain (an active
alarm that loses comms stays active). Not a full-snapshot re-projection, so it
can't clobber severity/message and works for a never-fired condition.
Forwarded through DeferredAddressSpaceSink (F10b trap; auto-verified by the
reflection forwarding guard). Ungated by redundancy role; no /alerts row.
Scripted conditions stay Good; worst-of-input quality deferred to #478 (Layer 3).
Tests: node-level (materialise/project/no-clobber/unknown-node no-op),
NativeAlarmProjector, DriverInstanceActor connectivity emission, DriverHostActor
fan-out, OpcUaPublishActor routing, and the wire-level guard
(Condition_event_Quality_tracks_source_connectivity_on_the_wire) — RED-verified
against a simulated pre-fix always-Good server. Existing DriverInstanceActor
parent probes ignore the new ConnectivityChanged.
Docs: docs/AlarmTracking.md §"Condition source-data Quality (#477)";
design doc docs/plans/2026-07-17-alarm-condition-quality-477-design.md.
MaterialiseAlarmCondition never assigned the mandatory Part 9 ConditionType
classification fields, so every condition event — native and scripted — shipped
ConditionClassId = NodeId.Null (i=0) and ConditionClassName = empty text. Same
mechanism as #473: Create() builds the mandatory children from the type's
embedded definition but leaves them unset, and nothing downstream synthesises
them (ReportEvent / InstanceStateSnapshot copy children verbatim). An HMI
bucketing alarms by condition class dropped every OtOpcUa alarm as unclassified.
Report BaseConditionClassType — Part 9's "no condition class modelled" value.
This is the honest report: we hold no classification at the materialise seam.
Deliberately NOT ProcessConditionClassType (the SDK sample's pick), which would
assert a classification we cannot back and would be actively wrong for a Galaxy
alarm whose upstream category is Safety/Diagnostics — trading a detectable null
for an undetectable lie. Real per-alarm classification needs the driver's
AlarmCategory carried to this deploy-time seam (it lives only on the runtime
AlarmEventArgs transition today) and is a separate feature.
Guards, both observed RED against the pre-fix server:
- NativeAlarmEventIdentityFieldDeliveryTests: wire-level, its own select clause
(the #473 test's clause mirrors ScadaBridge's exactly and its indices are
load-bearing, so it is left untouched). The class fields are declared on
ConditionType, not BaseEventType, so they are selected against that type.
- NodeManagerAlarmSourceFieldsTests: node-level, native (Raw) + scripted (Uns).
Stacked on #473 (PR #474) — merge after it.
MaterialiseAlarmCondition never assigned the three mandatory BaseEventType
identity fields, so all three arrived null on every condition event — native
and scripted. The SDK does not synthesise them on this path: Create() builds
the children from the type definition but leaves them unset, the auto-filling
BaseEventState.Initialize overload is only used for transient events, and
ReportEvent / InstanceStateSnapshot copy children verbatim. A conforming
client could not attribute an alarm to its source.
EventType = the concrete materialised type (TypeDefinitionId)
SourceNode = the condition's own NodeId (== ConditionId) — the condition IS
the source; an alarm-bearing raw tag materialises only the
condition, with no sibling value variable
SourceName = the same identifying id string: RawPath (native) /
ScriptedAlarmId (scripted)
SourceName carries the unique id rather than the leaf name: the leaf collides
across devices (HR200 on two PLCs) and is already carried by ConditionName, so
nothing is lost. Documented in docs/AlarmTracking.md, including that clients
must key on ConditionId and must not compose SourceName with ConditionName,
and that SourceName is NOT a live<->history join key (the alarm-history writer
stamps it with the EquipmentPath — a pre-existing divergence, now called out).
Tests: NativeAlarmEventIdentityFieldDeliveryTests is the wire-level guard —
a real client subscription using the standard [EventType, SourceNode,
SourceName, Time, Message, Severity] select clause, verified to fail against
the pre-fix server. NodeManagerAlarmSourceFieldsTests guards the node across
both realms, the base-type fallback, and the kind-swap re-materialise.
The HistoryRead events projection is a separate path (it projects historian
rows, not node fields) and is unaffected — its EventType => Variant.Null
assertions still hold.
M1 — over-the-wire event-delivery proof (new NativeAlarmMultiNotifierEventDeliveryTests
in OpcUaServer.IntegrationTests): boots the real server, wires one condition to two
equipment folders, fires ONE transition, and asserts a Server-object subscriber gets
EXACTLY ONE event (the shared-InstanceStateSnapshot queue dedup), plus overlapping
Server + equipment-folder subscribers each get exactly one copy. Captures via the
subscription FastEventCallback keyed by ClientHandle (the per-item Notification/DequeueEvents
path delivers nothing for these conditions in the SDK client — the working capture is the
fast callback).
M2 — resolution-failure signal + path-agreement tripwire (AddressSpaceApplier): when a
native alarm HAS ReferencingEquipmentPaths but NONE resolve to an equipment folder, count
it as a failed node (degraded-apply meter) + LogWarning instead of a silent skip; documented
the DisplayName==Name coupling as a binding invariant. Tests:
Composer_referencing_equipment_paths_resolve_back_to_equipment_ids_in_the_applier (real
composer output → applier inversion) + ..._unresolvable_referencing_equipment_counts_as_failed.
M3 — WireAlarmNotifiers is now a RECONCILE (unwires a folder dropped from the supplied set,
bidirectionally) so a future surgical ChangedRawTags path can't leave a de-referenced
equipment receiving the alarm; binding guard comment added on the classifier's
ChangedRawTags→Rebuild branch. Test: WireAlarmNotifiers_reconciles_a_dropped_folder_out_of_the_notifier_set.
L1 — MaterialiseAlarmCondition's kind-swap drop-and-recreate now calls
UnwireAlarmNotifiers(conditionKey) before discarding the old instance (teardown symmetry).
L3 — BuildEquipmentIdByFolderPath LogWarnings on a duplicate Area/Line/Name collision
(defense-in-depth; UNS uniqueness prevents it).

Wave B of Batch 4 — the runtime binding seam for the dual namespace.
Applier (both realms, explicit realm at every sink call site):
- MaterialiseRawSubtree: Raw containers as folders + Raw tags as variables
keyed by RawPath (native-alarm tag → single Part 9 condition at the RawPath),
all in AddressSpaceRealm.Raw; historian tagname = override else RawPath.
- MaterialiseUnsReferences: each UNS reference Variable under its equipment
folder (Uns realm) + an Organizes UNS->Raw edge; inherits writable/array/
historian tagname from the backing raw tag (both NodeIds -> one tagname).
- FeedHistorizedRefs / ProvisionHistorizedTags now source RAW tags (mux ref
stays single, keyed by RawPath); ApplyPureRemove tears down raw tags + UNS
refs in place (raw-container removal falls back to rebuild).
DriverHostActor (dual-NodeId, single-source fan-out):
- _nodeIdByDriverRef value gains a realm (NodeRealmRef); rebuilt from
RawTags UNION UnsReferenceVariables so one (DriverInstanceId, RawPath) fans
to the raw NodeId AND every referencing UNS NodeId with identical
value/quality/timestamp. Write inverse map keyed by the bare id; the
ns-qualified NodeId the write hook passes is normalised (BareNodeId) so a
write to either NodeId resolves the same driver ref (-> RawPath write).
- Native raw alarm condition routing is realm-tagged (Raw); AttributeValueUpdate
+ AlarmStateUpdate carry the realm through to the sink.
Retire EquipmentNodeIds -> V3NodeIds.Uns (applier/VirtualTagHostActor) and
RawPaths.Combine (DiscoveredNodeMapper, discovered nodes are Raw now).
DeploymentArtifact.ParseComposition emits the Raw + UNS subtrees byte-parity
with the composer (reconstruct entities -> AddressSpaceComposer.Compose).
Sink surface: removed the transitional `= AddressSpaceRealm.Uns` defaults from
IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink / ISurgicalAddressSpaceSink / SdkAddressSpaceSink /
DeferredAddressSpaceSink / NullOpcUaAddressSpaceSink — every call site is now
explicit (realm reordered before the trailing optionals on EnsureVariable +
MaterialiseAlarmCondition). Node-manager convenience methods keep their
defaults (they are not the interface impl; Sdk delegates explicitly).
Tests: rewrote DriverHostActorLiveValueTests (fan-out drift, 1:N) +
DriverHostActorWriteRoutingTests (dual-NodeId raw/uns write routing) to the v3
raw+uns model; new AddressSpaceApplierRawUnsTests; migrated the EquipmentTags
provisioning/feed tests to RawTags; swept EquipmentNodeIds test callers.

OpcUaServer.IntegrationTests was 4F. Two distinct, previously-masked issues:
1. Cert-store gap: the in-test client SecurityConfiguration used a bare
new SecurityConfiguration()/CertificateIdentifier(), so ValidateAsync threw
'TrustedIssuerCertificates StorePath must be specified' before any connect.
Added TestClientSecurity helper building Directory own/issuer/trusted/rejected
stores under a throwaway temp PKI dir (mirrors DefaultApplicationConfigurationFactory);
wired into DualEndpointTests + SubscriptionSurvivalTests.
2. Fixing #1 unmasked an SDK-version drift: the 1.5.378 node-cache read path
throws ServiceResultException(BadNodeIdUnknown) for a removed node instead of
returning a bad DataValue. The two subscription-survival assertions now expect
the throw via Should.ThrowAsync. Behavior under test (removed node -> unknown)
is unchanged; only the delivery mechanism differs.
Suite 4F -> 4/4 green. Integration-sweep follow-up #5.
