Joseph Doherty 54a00fd760 fix(focas): a caller's own cancellation during connect does not open the backoff window; deterministic concurrent-connect test
Review follow-up on c940349f: a cancelled caller recorded a connect failure, throttling every caller queued
on ConnectGate for ~1 s. The 200 ms settle delay in the concurrent-connect test is replaced by a
TaskCompletionSource the fake connect signals on entry. Both tests verified red with their fix reverted.

Joseph Doherty c940349fe8 fix(focas): serialize per-device connect so concurrent loops share one session; docs: signed PMC Byte in the #259 override recipe + Makino live notes
The hw2 read-only Makino gate (Z-34184, 31i-B) logged the fixed-tree bootstrap failing with
ObjectDisposedException: FocasWireClient. EnsureConnectedAsync was unserialized: the alarm poll
loop and the fixed-tree loop both reached it right after init, the second saw the first's
still-connecting client as not connected, disposed it and opened a second session, and the first
caller's catch then disposed the second caller's client (and recorded a spurious backoff failure).
A per-device ConnectGate now serializes the connect with a re-check after acquire, and the failure
path disposes only its own client. FocasConcurrentConnectTests goes red without the gate.

Docs: a Byte PMC tag is signed, so G12 at 100% feed override reads -101 on the Makino and the
recipe's 255 - value gave 356; recipe now masks. Adds the live statinfo/alarm-watch observations.

Joseph Doherty bac93744ce fix(alarms): #647 re-review — re-statement needs the same message; CNC refusal is not comms loss; worst-of health
R1: NativeAlarmProjector treats Raise-on-Active as a re-statement only when the message matches what
the condition shows; a different alarm appearing during a respawn un-acks and writes its alerts row.
FOCAS condition messages are a deterministic function of the matched set (tested across fresh driver
instances and reordered lists); Runtime E2E now covers both the same alarm and a new one during a
respawn. Residual (source message determinism) documented in AlarmTracking.md.

R2: a non-OK cnc_rdalmmsg2 return is thrown as FocasWireException{Rc} and classified as a CNC
refusal: conditions get a quality-only BadNotSupported once, one Warning, polling continues, and
driver health is untouched (no 90 s watchdog reconnect loop on a production control). Only transport
faults degrade (falsification control in the test).

R3: alarm-path health is tracked apart from the value path and combined in GetHealth: worst state,
later LastSuccessfulRead. A good value read can no longer mask a failing alarm read (no per-poll
/hosts flip) and a good alarm read cannot mask a value Degraded.

Joseph Doherty 89961af6e6 fix(alarms): #647 review — Raise on an active condition is a re-statement; FOCAS outage quality + health
MAJOR-1: a deploy that changes a driver's config respawns it, and the fresh instance's empty told
record re-sent Raise for every still-active alarm, un-acking acknowledged conditions and writing a
duplicate "Activated" alerts row. NativeAlarmProjector now treats Raise on an already-active
condition as a re-statement (keeps Acked; ForwardNativeAlarm skips the alerts row); only Retrigger
(or inactive->active) un-acks. Sources whose upstream ack state is authoritative send Retrigger for
an unacked re-statement: OpcUaClient on first sight (no prior told), Galaxy for an unacked active
snapshot entry. Runtime E2E drives a FRESH FOCAS driver after a redeploy and asserts the ack survives.

MAJOR-2: a failed FOCAS alarm read annotates each subscribed condition BadNoCommunication once per
outage (#626 quality-only path) with one Warning (MINOR-6), lifted to Good on recovery; failed alarm
reads degrade driver health with LastSuccessfulRead frozen (successful ones advance it), so an
alarm-only driver trips the #527 comms-loss watchdog.

MINOR-3 CLAUDE.md #630 bullet; MINOR-4 split line; MINOR-5 a non-empty cnc_rdalmmsg2 payload that
fits neither stride throws; MINOR-7 value-tag + parsed-address tables are built and swapped, never
cleared in place under the retained poll engine. Docs corrected (FOCAS.md, AlarmTracking.md, CLAUDE.md).

Joseph Doherty 482bafdfac feat(focas): CNC alarms reach Part 9 conditions via ALARM: tags (#647)
An ALARM: address (*, <Type>, <Type>/<n>, <Type>/<lo>-<hi>, T<code>, OTHER) on a raw tag that
also carries the cross-driver alarm object is ONE condition with ConditionId == RawPath and a
Kind (Raise / Retrigger / Clear), so DriverHostActor.ForwardNativeAlarm routes it and
NativeAlarmProjector activates it. Fixes all seven triage defects:

1. SubscribeAlarmsAsync treated the host's RawPaths as device hosts -> nothing polled.
2. Decorated "{host}#{Type}:{Number}" ConditionId -> every event dropped.
3. No Kind -> projector kept prior state.
4. WireFocasClient.ReadAlarmsAsync answered [] on failure -> mass clear + un-acked re-raise.
It now throws; a failed device read keeps every condition's state.
5. Acks lost on reconnect -> told-record dedup (MTConnect #626 pattern) held for the driver's
   lifetime; same-set re-subscribe / re-init re-raise nothing; changed set prunes leavers only.
6. Subscribe threw while AlarmProjection.Enabled=false -> the tag is the opt-in; flag is a no-op.
7. Alarm tags could not be authored -> ALARM: grammar (FocasAlarmSelector, Contracts) backs the
editor, the address picker, the deploy-time inspector and driver init.

Severity: authored alarm.severity -> exact OpcUaSeverity; else the 16i-era type bucket. The type
table stays the only one (moved to Contracts, documented 16i-era; 30i codes not invented; raw
T<code> selector + raw code in every message). Read-only: ack is server-side. Also clears the
value table on a re-initialise (#630 gap that let a removed/moved tag keep reading).

E2E: Runtime.Tests FocasNativeAlarmEndToEndTests drives the real driver through the real
DriverHostActor and asserts the condition goes Active then inactive.

Joseph Doherty 55ae230fa4 ci(#606): Gitea-compatible trx upload + deterministic fixes for the CI-load test flakes
- v2-ci.yml: upload-artifact@v4 -> @v3 + continue-on-error (act_runner reports as GHES and
v4 refuses GHES, failing every run); runner-capacity diagnostic step; AKKA_TEST_TIMEFACTOR=3
  on the test step.
- Runtime/ControlPlane harnesses: akka.test.timefactor from AKKA_TEST_TIMEFACTOR
(TestTimeFactor), single-expect-default 15s; ControlPlane gains PresenceBudget.
- Leaked spinner threads: the infinite-loop timeout tests (Calculation, Host.IntegrationTests
RoslynVirtualTagEvaluator, 3x Core.Scripting) pinned a core for the rest of the test process
  (abandoned, never stopped). Now a bounded 5 s wall-clock spin; outer compile-inclusive bound 30 s.
- Real test races fixed: ScriptedAlarmEngine push-during-drain (Inactive is also the start
state + persist-before-update => wait for the Cleared save); DriverReconnectE2e (both nodes
host the driver; Created[] is last-writer-wins and ForceReconnect is a no-op while
Connecting); ControlPlaneStarterOrder (lost-race heal waited for a 60 s refresh tick).
- Fixed sleeps -> poll-for-condition: ReconnectSupervisor LastError, Modbus deadband steps
(wait for observed reads), Modbus dispose hygiene precondition, FOCAS probe-loop log.
- Short presence budgets -> PresenceBudget in the Runtime/ControlPlane tests seen failing on
Gitea; Calculation Settle 10 -> 30 s. No assertion removed, nothing skipped.
- infra/README.md §10 CI; stale TreatWarningsAsErrors comment in Directory.Build.props.

Joseph Doherty 159f30dcd0 test(focas): wait for the first full poll, not the bootstrap stamp, before reading (#591)
LastFixedPollUtc is stamped by the fixed-tree bootstrap before any axis snapshot
is published, so under load Each_duplicate_axis_reads_its_own_position could read
inside that window and get BadNodeIdUnknown. The helper now waits for the last
axis slot plus the servo/spindle caches. 45/45 green under 14-core yes load.

Joseph Doherty 26b512adba fix(focas): a missing O-number or refused program sub-read goes Bad, not a Good 0
WireFocasClient.GetProgramInfoAsync defaulted every field the CNC did not report:
ONumber ?? 0 when the cnc_exeprgname2 payload was too short to carry it, and
Name '' / BlockCount 0 / Mode 0 when the sub-read was refused. 0 is a genuine
O-number (a 31i reports 0 for a path-executed program -- live Z-34184), a
genuine block count, and Mode 0 is MDI, a real operating mode.

FocasProgramInfo fields are now nullable; MapProgramInfo leaves unreported
fields null and the fixed tree publishes them BadNoData while the bundle's
other fields stay Good.

Joseph Doherty 1dba46bd7b fix(focas): decode servo/spindle meters by their base/exponent envelope; MaxRpm -> MotorSpeedPct
Servo (0x0056) and spindle (0x0040) meter records are 8 bytes:
[i32 value][u16 base][u16 exponent], the same self-describing envelope as the
position blocks.

Servo: offset 4 was read as a decimal count. It is the BASE (a steady 10), so
every load was divided by 10^10 and published ~0 -- the sister ignitionoee panel
read servo 0% on every axis of a Makino cutting at 20,000 rpm. Loads are now
value / base^exponent, a direct percentage.

Spindle: the raw meter is a 1/16384 fraction of full scale. Settled on the real
Z-34184 by regressing the type-1 meter against cnc_rddynamic2 spindle speed over
596..20,000 rpm (rpm = 1.220749 x meter; 16384 x 1.220749 = 20000.75). So:
- Spindle/{name}/Load publishes % of rated load (Float64; was the raw Int32
  count -- a reading of 9155 meant 55.9%).
- Spindle/{name}/MaxRpm is RENAMED Spindle/{name}/MotorSpeedPct (Float64, % of
maximum speed) and is polled with Load. The old node was actively wrong: the
type-1 meter is the live motor speed, and it was read once at bootstrap and
served forever as if it were a max-RPM constant. Client-visible: FIXED: tags
  on .../MaxRpm must be re-pointed.
- The spindle read no longer stops at the first zero after slot 1 (which dropped
an idle second spindle and kept non-zero residue); every slot is returned.

A record whose envelope is undescribable (base not 2/10, exponent > 18 -- e.g.
residue past the configured axis/spindle count) publishes BadNoData, never a Good 0.

Ported from the sister ignitionoee FOCAS driver v0.17.2/v0.17.3 (Focas.Wire-019);

Joseph Doherty 69e0a622f3 fix(focas): scale positions from each cnc_rddynamic2 block; delete the fabricated cnc_getfigure
Every 0x0026 position block is self-describing: [i32 raw][u16 base][u16 exponent],
value = raw / base^exponent. The live 31i-B capture (ref-dynamic2-axis1.bin)
reports base 10 / exponent 4 on every block, so axis 1 is 280.1574 mm, not
2801574. The driver ignored the envelope and instead sent 'cnc_getfigure'
(0x00D3) -- a command that does not exist in the FOCAS wire protocol, served only
by the in-tree mock; the real control refuses it with rc=1, so on hardware every
position fell back to PositionDecimalPlaces (default 0) and published raw counts.

- ParsePositionBlock decodes the envelope into FocasPosition; the driver applies
raw / base^exponent at publish. PositionDecimalPlaces is now only the fallback
  for a scale-less (4-byte) block.
- A block describing no position (0xFFFF vacant marker, base not 2/10, exponent
  > 18 -- raw / 10^400 would read as a Good 0.0) publishes BadNoData on that node
  alone; siblings are untouched.
- ReadPositionFiguresAsync / IFocasClient.GetPositionFiguresAsync and the
  per-axis figure cache are deleted.

Ported from the sister ignitionoee FOCAS driver v0.17.0 (+ Focas.Wire-014);
live axis-scoped captures live-dynamic2-axis{1,2}-0x0026.bin (Z-34184 X 0.0374,

Joseph Doherty 9460da513c fix(focas): decode all four bytes of an axis/spindle name record, up to the first NUL
ReadNameRecord read only the first 2 bytes of each 4-byte 0x0089/0x008A record,
so the real 31i-B's paired axes 'AA6'/'AA7' (live capture ref-axisname-0x0089.bin)
both decoded as 'AA' -- the 'Makino with two AA axes' that #548 then had to
disambiguate as AA_1/AA_2. The name is now the record's ASCII up to its FIRST
NUL (not trailing-NUL trimming), so buffer residue such as Z-34184's spindle
record 53 31 00 4e ('S1' + an 'N' left from an earlier 'CNC') is discarded.

Client-visible: on such a machine Axes/AA_1 and Axes/AA_2 become Axes/AA6 and
Axes/AA7 (the old names were a decode artefact). #548's disambiguation stays as
the guard for genuinely duplicate names.

Ported from the sister ignitionoee FOCAS driver (Focas.Wire-001, Focas.Wire-022
/ v0.18.1).

Joseph Doherty 665ecd55c2 fix(focas): decode cnc_rdmacro dec_val at offset 6; vacant/fractional macros go Bad
The ODBM wire payload is [i32 mantissa][i16 length, a constant 10][i16 dec_val].
ReadMacroAsync read the decimal at offset 4, so every macro decoded without
failing but wrongly: the captured #500 = 1.0 (05 f5 e1 00 00 0a 00 08) published
0.01. FANUC normalises macros to a 9-significant-digit mantissa, so the error
was never small.

- dec_val is read at [6..7]; a payload < 8 bytes is refused, not guessed at.
- A vacant variable (dec_val 0xFFFF) publishes BadNoData, never a Good 0.
- Integer-typed tags get the exact whole value (integer arithmetic); a
fractional macro on an integer tag is BadTypeMismatch, a whole value that
does not fit the type BadOutOfRange. Float tags get mantissa / 10^dec.

Ported from the sister ignitionoee FOCAS driver v0.15.0 (Focas.Wire-013,
Focas-017/018); live vectors from Makino Z-34184 (31i-B, G431).
Adds a WireFixtures helper that loads the raw 31i-B captures in Fixtures/v3.

Joseph Doherty 5c61d0b133 fix(modbus): exception-safe batch wrapper; driver batch wiring consistency 2026-08-15 12:27:19 -04:00
Joseph Doherty 621a9e5dc2 fix(mqtt): runtime mappers no longer refuse leading-whitespace TagConfig — JsonDocument.Parse + ValueKind is the single framing authority (#559)
FromTagConfig and FromSparkplugTagConfig each carried a framing pre-check
(`tagConfig[0] != '{'`) evaluated on the UNTRIMMED string, so a TagConfig blob
with leading whitespace was refused by MQTT alone and the tag read
BadNodeIdUnknown forever — while the other six structural-parse drivers
(Modbus, S7, AbCip, AbLegacy, TwinCAT, FOCAS) hand the identical blob to
JsonDocument.Parse, which skips leading whitespace per the JSON spec.

The clause is dropped (the blank guard stays). JsonDocument.Parse plus the
root-ValueKind check now decide framing, exactly as for the six siblings: an
array/number/string root fails ValueKind, non-JSON is a JsonException. The gate
was a validator, not a discriminator — no caller (MqttSubscriptionManager,
SparkplugIngestor, MqttTagConfigModel, Inspect) used the first byte to pick a
format — so verdicts are identical for every input except whitespace-padded
JSON objects, which now get their content's verdict.

Inspect needs no logic change (it has trimmed since #556 and hands the RAW
reference to the mappers), but its comments claimed the padded-blob refusal was
production-reachable; rewritten. That shape was also MQTT's only vehicle for the
catch-all backstop, which is now unreachable-today like FOCAS's — so its test is
replaced by the same count-relation pin, and the backstop code stays as
defence-in-depth.

Tests: both mappers pinned by padded-vs-unpadded DEFINITION equality (a record,
so field-wise), padded non-object/malformed negative controls, an Inspect
verdict+inspection parity theory over the accepted AND rejected corpus with an
anti-vacuity control, and a padded MQTT corpus entry in the AdminUI
authoring/runtime parity suite.
2026-08-10 03:36:46 -04:00
Joseph Doherty f5475868f7 fix(inspect): trim before the framing check; stop advisories swallowing the backstop (#556); pin the MQTT payloadFormat mode contract (#557 item 2)
#556 item 1 — leading whitespace defeated every Inspect's pre-filter. Seven
factories (Modbus/S7/AbCip/AbLegacy/TwinCAT/FOCAS/Mqtt) tested
`reference[0] != '{'`, so a padded blob returned EMPTY and a tag the driver
refuses deployed clean. The check now trims first, matching the idiom
Sql/Calculation/MTConnect/OpcUaClient already used. The raw reference is still
what is handed to the mapper — the driver reads the stored blob, not a trimmed
copy — so the gate keeps mirroring the runtime rather than becoming lenient.
Both directions are pinned: a padded blob the mapper accepts still draws
nothing, and one that is not object-framed AFTER trimming still draws nothing
(it is not an equipment-tag TagConfig at all).

Six of the seven mappers hand the blob to a whitespace-tolerant
JsonDocument.Parse, so their verdict is unchanged by padding. MQTT is the
exception: both its readers carry the same framing gate, so a padded blob is
genuinely refused — which is why the untrimmed pre-filter was a real defect
there and not a cosmetic mismatch.

#556 item 2 — FOCAS and MQTT appended advisories unconditionally and then gated
the catch-all rejection message on `warnings.Count == 0`, so an advisory (which
fires on ACCEPTED blobs too, and says nothing about a refusal) silently
swallowed the only message naming a refusal nothing else can. The two classes
now accumulate in SEPARATE lists and the backstop gates on the rejection count
alone — structural, not string matching. MQTT's swallow was reachable in
production (a padded blob its readers refuse while every describe branch finds
the parsed document well-formed); FOCAS's backstop is currently unreachable by
audit, so its guard is protective.

#557 item 2 — decided and pinned: KEEP the union verdict. Evidence:
FromSparkplugTagConfig hard-codes PayloadFormat=Json and never consults the key;
only MqttSubscriptionManager (the Plain ingest path) decodes by it; and
MqttTagConfigModel.ToJson deliberately omits the key entirely in Sparkplug mode
(#513). So a Sparkplug driver genuinely serves the tag and rejecting it would be
stricter than the runtime. The cost — served behaviour depends on the driver's
MqttMode, which no tag row records — is paid by an ADVISORY naming the key and
the mode dependency, not by changing the verdict, so both gates keep agreeing.
The same invalid value on a blob the union REFUSES stays a rejection; the class
is decided by the accept gate, never by the key.

Falsified: reverting Modbus's trim reddens the padded-rejection theory;
neutering MQTT's backstop guard to the pre-#556 shape reddens the
advisory-plus-unnameable-rejection test; disabling the #557 advisory reddens the
contract pin; and for FOCAS, removing a describe branch alone stays green (the
backstop covers it) while additionally neutering the guard goes red.

Joseph Doherty 05b424788f fix(tagconfig): close the four #551 residuals — accept-gate-first Inspect, three authoring rules, CSV/service gate, doc sweep
Gitea #551.

1. CSV import ran no driver-typed config gate. Its typed columns were always
strictly parsed, but the free-form TagConfigJson column reached the database
unread, so a CSV could author a tag the driver rejects — one that deploys
green and reads BadNodeIdUnknown forever. RawTagCsvMapper.Parse now names the
offending row in the staged review grid, and RawTreeService enforces the same
gate on CreateTag/UpdateTag/ImportTags: a form cannot be the guarantee (the
API and any future caller reach none of them, and this repo has no bUnit).
A rejected import row is an ERROR — the batch inserts nothing and the row is
   named — never a skip.

Note the brief's premise that manual entry rides ImportTagsAsync is wrong:
RawManualTagEntryModal commits row-by-row via CreateTagAsync, which is why
the gate had to land on all three write paths.

2/3. The seven pre-#549 Inspect methods ran a hand-list of DescribeInvalidEnum
checks, so every rejection cause not on the list was invisible. They are now
ACCEPT-GATE-FIRST (the MTConnect/Sql/OpcUaClient/Calculation shape): ask the
driver's own reader for the verdict, then explain the refusal, with a
catch-all so "the parse rejects but Inspect said nothing" is unreachable.
That closes S7's absent dataType, AbCip members[], Modbus stringByteOrder and
the type-dependent guards, plus causes the issue did not name (absent
   region/address/tagPath/symbolPath/topic, TwinCAT Structure, MQTT's Sparkplug
tuple). FOCAS and MQTT keep advisories about ACCEPTED blobs, so they
   diagnose rather than return empty.

   Authoring half: ModbusTagConfigModel gains stringByteOrder;
   AbCipTagConfigModel asks the new AbCipTagDefinitionFactory.DescribeInvalidMember;
S7TagConfigModel captures whether the SOURCE blob declared dataType and asks
   S7TagDefinitionFactory.DataTypeKey/DeclaresDataType. One authority per rule.

4. Doc sweep: the six factory Inspect summaries, EquipmentTagConfigInspector's
class remarks and AdminOperationsActor's comment all claimed invalid enums are
"silently defaulted by the lenient runtime" — false since R2-11 Phase C made
the runtime reads strict. They describe rejections now.

Joseph Doherty 8b10d32728 fix(focas): disambiguate duplicate sibling axis/spindle names in the fixed tree (#548)
A CNC can report duplicate sibling names — the wonder Makino returns two
axes both called AA — which made the Axes/ subtree untrustworthy: the
browser offered two identical folders the commit gate had to refuse, and
the poll loop's name-keyed snapshot cache let the second axis silently
overwrite the first. Spindles and servo loads had the same collision in
their own keying, plus a resolve-to-first-match on the spindle read path.

Scheme: every member of a collision set gets a 1-based occurrence-ordinal
suffix in slot order (AA_1, AA_2); unique names stay bare. Chosen over the
alternatives deliberately:

- Names, not slot numbers, stay the primary identity — the segment map is
re-derived from the live device each session, so a name-keyed path
follows the physical axis across config changes, where a slot-qualified
path would silently rebind on any axis-list shift and rename every axis
on every machine for one pathological CNC.
- The WHOLE collision set is suffixed: bare AA ceases to exist when
ambiguous, so a tag authored against it reads BadNodeIdUnknown rather
than one arbitrary axis's data — the #534/#540 silent-wrongness class.
- Occurrence ordinal, not absolute slot: inserting/removing an unrelated
axis never renames an existing duplicate pair. If the collision-set
membership itself changes, segments change on the next browse and stale
authored segments read Bad, never another axis's data.

One pure helper (FixedTreeNames.Disambiguate, collision-proof against
genuine names by suffix escalation) feeds FocasFixedTreeCache.AxisSegments
/ SpindleSegments, and the emitter, axis snapshot keys, servo-load keys
(cnc_rdsvmeter answers in slot order, so the k-th AA load belongs to the
k-th AA axis) and the spindle read resolution all consume those — they can
no longer disagree. The nameless-spindle S{n} fallback applies before
disambiguation so a fallback name colliding with a real one is handled
like any other duplicate.

Tests are red-first on the pre-fix driver (all five driver-level tests
fail on master's code): browse emits AA_1/AA_2 and no bare AA, each
duplicate reads its own position and servo load, duplicate spindles
resolve per slot, bare AA reads Bad. The wire half runs live against
focas-mock (duplicate names survive the managed wire parse and publish as
suffixed segments); the mock's dynamic store is name-keyed so the
distinct-values half stays with the offline tests. FOCAS 327/327,
integration 11/11, FOCAS.Cli 52, AdminUI 1113, ControlPlane 231.

Closes #548.

Joseph Doherty dd900f970a fix(hosts): a driver that never built a tag table reports NO ANSWER, not zero skips
Found on the docker-dev live gate, not in tests. Two drivers that faulted
during initialise (rtu-gate, opcua1) each rendered "0 tags" on /hosts against
two authored tags apiece, because a ledger that had never committed returned
SkippedTagReport.Empty.

A zero report is a positive claim -- "this driver skipped nothing" -- and
making it on behalf of a driver that never got as far as looking is exactly
the quiet inaccuracy #541 exists to remove. GetSkippedTags() and
SkippedTagLedger.Snapshot() now return null until the first committed build,
so the column renders the same em-dash it already used for a driver that
cannot report at all. Both are 'no answer'; neither is 'nothing skipped'.

Knock-on: a FOCAS driver whose only init threw now reports null rather than a
zero report, which is strictly more honest than the assertion the test
originally made.

Joseph Doherty 39db75083d feat(drivers): every driver reports the authored tags it skipped (Gitea #541)
A driver builds its RawPath -> definition table at init and tolerates a
per-tag miss: an unmappable TagConfig, an unparseable address, a
capability-matrix rejection. That tolerance is right -- one bad tag must not
take down the other few thousand. What was missing is any statement of the
fact afterwards. A skip is not an error and happens before any read, so the
driver stays Healthy, errors/5 min stays 0, Last error stays empty, and Last
read advances live off the tags that did map. On the wonder Makino in #540
that reading held while focas-z-34184 ignored 20 of its 22 tags.

New optional capability ISkippedTagReporter, backed by a shared
SkippedTagLedger so the reset/commit/cap rules are one implementation rather
than one per driver. The report -- authored count, exact skipped count, and a
capped sample of RawPath + reason -- rides DriverHealthChanged to a new Tags
column on /hosts, over the Phase 5 telemetry stream. No table: a driver-only
node has no ConfigDb to write to, the lesson from #521.

The issue named eight drivers. It is twelve -- every driver in
DriverTypeNames. All has an authored-tag skip path. Calculation (no scriptId),
MTConnect (no readable DataItem id), Galaxy (no attributeRef) and OpcUaClient
(no nodeId) were unlisted, and OpcUaClient's was the quietest of the twelve:
NamespaceMap drops such an entry with a bare `continue` and not even a log
line. SkippedTagReporterFleetTests pins the invariant reflectively over every
IDriver in src/Drivers/, so a thirteenth cannot re-introduce the silence.

Sql drops a tag at TWO points and its report is the union of both: a blob
that does not map, AND an identifier the 8.1 catalog gate rejects against the
live catalog. The second is what schema drift produces -- a renamed column, a
dropped view -- months after a deployment sealed green, and reporting only
the first would have that driver claim "0 skipped" while polling half its
tags, which is worse than reporting nothing because the column would then be
actively reassuring.

Deliberately additive to driver state, never a change of it. Latching
non-Healthy for a config problem would satisfy both halves of the #527
comms-loss conjunction -- 90 s without a successful read AND non-Healthy --
and a driver whose tags were ALL skipped has no successful reads by
construction, so it would reconnect-loop forever against a healthy device.

Three details that are load-bearing rather than incidental:

- The skip digest is part of the publish fingerprint. A skipped tag leaves
every other fingerprint component identical to a clean driver's, so without
it PublishHealthSnapshot's dedup swallows exactly the publish carrying the
signal -- the trap that already bit the rediscovery and host-status
channels. The digest covers the sample, not just the counts: a redeploy
that fixes one tag and breaks another leaves both counts unchanged.
- The count is exact; only the sample is capped, and the tooltip says so when
it is showing fewer than it counted. A truncated list that looked complete
would have an operator fix twenty tags and believe the job done.
- The ledger stages and commits, so an init that throws part-way leaves the
previous report standing. A partial snapshot would read as "we now skip
fewer tags", the opposite of the truth.

The proto field needs no companion presence flag, unlike host_statuses: a
singular message field carries real presence in proto3, and a has_ flag would
collide with protoc's generated HasSkippedTags.

Verified red-first three ways: dropping SkippedTagDigest from the fingerprint
fails the two dedup tests, removing the seam from one driver fails the fleet
guard, and dropping the catalog-gate leg fails the Sql union test. Full
solution builds with zero new warnings against 4e22f024.

Joseph Doherty b61fe38823 fix(focas): browse-committed fixed-tree tags are readable (Gitea #540)
Authoring FOCAS tags through /raw -> Browse device... produced tags the driver
could never read. Every committed tag read BadNodeIdUnknown forever, and the
failure was silent end to end: the AdminUI accepted it, the deploy gate sealed
green, and the driver reported Healthy with 0 errors while ignoring the tags.
Net effect: the whole fixed-tree surface could not be published through any v3
authoring path. Found cutting wonder-app-vd03 over to v3 against a real Makino
Pro 5 / Fanuc 30i, where 0 of 20 committed tags read while two hand-authored
MACRO: tags on the same device read Good.

A captured browse leaf's id IS its DriverAttributeInfo.FullName, and the fixed
tree emitted "{deviceHost}/{path}" there -- an internal cache key, not an
address. Both authoring paths wrote it verbatim into TagConfig.address, and
FocasAddress.TryParse accepts no such form, so the driver skipped the tags at
init.

Fixed at the emitter rather than by stripping the host at commit, which fixes
the browse-commit flow and the manual picker's tree-select together and leaves
one canonical address form:

- FocasAddress gains a fourth kind, FIXED:<path>, and moves to Contracts so the
AdminUI and ControlPlane can parse without referencing the runtime driver
(#526). A FIXED: read is served from the fixed-tree snapshot the poll loop
already maintains -- no area read, no connection. Writes refuse: nothing in
that tree is a writable location on the CNC.
- The address carries no device. A tag's device comes from its Device row, and
a second routing channel for one fact is what created this defect.
- An authored FIXED: tag arms the fixed-tree poll loop by itself. Enabled
defaults false and the browser force-enables it only for a browse, so the
operator would otherwise browse, commit, deploy, and land on a driver whose
loop never starts -- every tag Bad with a correct address.
- Fixed-tree values are now dated from the last answered poll and go
BadCommunicationError once it is stale (8 cadences, floored at 30s). The poll
loop swallows a failed tick by design, so a dead CNC would otherwise serve its
last snapshot as Good indefinitely -- harmless while nothing could bind to the
  tree, not harmless now.

Guardrails, so this class cannot recur silently:

- FocasTagConfigModel.Validate() runs the real parser instead of a non-empty
check, and FocasTagDefinitionFactory.Inspect() warns at the deploy gate, which
covers CSV/API config that never touches the modal.
- The manual picker offered axis/spindle/program/status "parameter groups" --
none of which is a FOCAS addressing space -- and its own default value,
axis:5, was unusable. It now composes PMC / PARAM: / MACRO: through
FocasAddress, so what it emits is parseable by construction.

Tests assert addresses ROUND-TRIP through the parser rather than matching an
expected string: the previous FocasAddressBuilderTests pinned "axis:5" exactly,
which is how a green suite coexisted with a picker nobody could use. Verified
red-first against the old emitter. FOCAS 308, AdminUI 1095, ControlPlane 169,
Core 581 -- all pass, 0 warnings.

The remaining half of #540 -- a driver reporting Healthy/0 errors while
skipping tags at init -- is fleet-wide (eight drivers do this) and is filed
separately rather than patched per-driver.

Joseph Doherty 6b3da93151 fix(browse): commit the browsed data type, and fix the probe classification the fixture was hiding (#536)
v2-ci / build (push) Successful in 4m17s
v2-ci / unit-tests (push) Failing after 16m47s
A browse-committed AB CIP / TwinCAT / FOCAS tag bound with its model's DEFAULT
data type, not the one the device reported. A browsed REAL committed as
`{"tagPath":"Pump_1_Speed","dataType":"DInt"}` — and those three drivers decode
the wire bytes by that field, not by the raw row's OPC UA DataType — so the tag
read four bytes of a float through an integer decoder and published a plausible
wrong number with no error raised anywhere. FOCAS was missed when #536 was filed.

The type is CARRIED, not derived. Reverse-mapping the leaf's driver-agnostic
DriverDataType looks like the smaller fix and is wrong: SInt/Int/DInt/USInt/UInt
all collapse into Int32 on the way out of the driver, so that version would bind
a 16-bit INT as a 32-bit DINT while appearing to fix the REAL. Drivers now state
their own type name on DriverAttributeInfo.NativeDataType, which reaches the
picker as AttributeInfo.AddressFields["dataType"] and the commit mapper from
there. A leaf that states nothing keeps the model default — the pre-#536
behaviour, kept deliberately as the fallback rather than a guess.

Numeric strings are refused before parsing: Enum.TryParse accepts "9" for any
enum and Enum.IsDefined then confirms it, so an unguarded parse would bind a tag
to a type nobody named. A test caught this in the first version of the guard.

--- and the other half, which the fixture was hiding ---

Test Connect on a device with NO authored tags — every AB CIP device at the
moment an operator first presses the button — reported "CIP handshake failed"
against a healthy controller. That was written down as a fixture limitation
("ab_server doesn't implement @raw_cpu_type"). Both halves of that were wrong:

  * @raw_cpu_type is not a libplctag special tag at all (only @raw, @tags and
@udt/ are), so it goes out as an ordinary symbolic name that no controller
defines, and the controller's "tag does not exist" IS the successful answer.
  * ab_server answered an unresolvable tag path with CIP 0x03 where a Logix
controller answers 0x04 — ErrorBadParam vs ErrorNotFound, which the probe
classifies oppositely. Fixed in vendored patch 0002.
  * With the fixture then telling the truth, the real defect surfaced:
AbCipDriverProbe.IsReachableException matched the native C status spellings
("STATUS_NOT_FOUND"), but libplctag.NET throws with the MANAGED enum name
("ErrorNotFound"). Those substrings can never match, so the reachable
classification could not fire on the exception path — which is the path every
no-authored-tags probe takes. This was failing on real hardware too, not just
against the sim. It now recovers the Status and defers to IsReachableStatus,
so there is one classification rather than two that can drift.

Rejected: switching the fallback to @tags. libplctag builds a tag-listing tag
with NO network I/O, so it reports OK against any TCP listener — measured green
against a Mosquitto broker.

Verification: full solution suite green. Falsification runs confirm exactly the
intended tests go red — 9 for the type carry, 3 (the reachable statuses only) for
the probe classification. Live on docker-dev: browse-committed TestString/
Motor_Run/TestSINT now store String/Bool/SInt, alongside last session's
Pump_1_Speed still holding the wrong DInt. TestSINT is the falsifier — its row
DataType is Int32, identical to TestDINT's, so no reverse map could have produced
"SInt".

Known consequence: pre-existing browse-committed tags keep their wrong dataType;
the fix applies to new commits only.

Joseph Doherty 5184a2e107 fix(drivers): complete the Sql + FOCAS in-place config re-parse (#516)
The first #516 pass deliberately left these two out, because each derives more
than options from config: Sql its ISqlDialect and resolved connection string,
FOCAS the IFocasClientFactory its Backend key selects — all injected at
construction. Adopting new options alone would poll a NEW tag set through the
OLD database/backend, and a half-applied config change is worse than a
discarded one because it looks like it worked.

Rather than accept that exclusion, this fixes the blocker. Each factory now
exposes a ParseBinding returning EVERY config-derived dependency as one value,
and the driver adopts them atomically:

- Sql: ApplyBinding takes (options, dialect, connectionString) and rebuilds
everything downstream — provider factory, Endpoint, and the SqlPollReader
that captures all three. It runs BEFORE BuildTagTable, so the tag table and
the connection it is polled over always come from the same revision. A
test-injected DbProviderFactory survives a rebind (_explicitFactory), so a
re-derived dialect cannot displace what a test passed in.
- FOCAS: options and backend move as a pair in InitializeAsync.

Re-resolving Sql's connection string on reinit is a side benefit: a rotated
credential is picked up without a process restart.

Drivers constructed directly get no rebinder and keep their constructor
binding, so every existing "{}"-passing lifecycle test is unaffected by
construction rather than by luck.

The tests pin ATOMICITY, not merely that a re-parse happened — a test checking
only options would have passed against the broken version. Confirmed by
simulating the half-fix (adopt options, skip the backend): 2 of 3 FOCAS tests
go red. Reverting Sql's rebind turns its connection-string test red. Sql also
asserts that a reinit which cannot resolve its new connection leaves the
previous binding whole rather than half-adopting.

All 12 drivers now honour a changed config in place. Sql.Tests 226, FOCAS.Tests
275 pass.

Joseph Doherty e8db0a683f fix(drivers): flip runtime tag parsers to strict enum parsing (#457)
v2-ci / build (pull_request) Successful in 4m12s
v2-ci / unit-tests (pull_request) Failing after 10m15s
R2-11 Phase C. All six equipment-tag parsers (Modbus/S7/AbCip/AbLegacy/
TwinCAT/Focas) now read enum fields via the new TagConfigJson.TryReadEnumStrict:
absent -> fallback, valid -> parsed, present-but-invalid (typo) -> TryParse
returns false -> EquipmentTagRefResolver.TryResolve false -> driver surfaces
BadNodeIdUnknown, instead of the old lenient path that silently defaulted a
typo to a wrong-width Good.

Modbus flips all three enum fields (region/dataType/byteOrder); the other five
flip dataType. The deploy-time Deployment:TagConfigValidationMode=Error gate is
unchanged and remains the operator pre-flight.

Coverage:
- Six *EquipmentTagParserStrictnessTests inverted from Freeze_typo_* (lenient)
  to Typo_*_rejects_the_tag + Valid_*_still_parses.
- TagConfigJsonTests.TryReadEnumStrict_rejects_only_invalid matrix.
- Driver-level end-to-end proof:
  AbCipEquipmentTagTests.Driver_read_of_a_typod_dataType_ref_surfaces_BadNodeIdUnknown
drives the real AbCipDriver.ReadAsync through resolve->status.

Golden parity corpus has no typo'd enums, so the flip is a no-op there.
Full solution builds clean; all six driver suites + core + parity + gate green.

Joseph Doherty a5a0f96d49 fix(drivers): harden operator TimeoutMs handling + AbLegacy evict parity
v2-ci / build (pull_request) Successful in 4m5s
v2-ci / unit-tests (pull_request) Failing after 10m45s
Follow-ups from the fleet-wide read-timeout audit that the S7 R2-01 read-leg
fix (PR #453) prompted. The audit confirmed S7 was the ONLY driver with the
async-read-ignores-socket-timeout hang; these are the two adjacent (non-hang)
findings it surfaced.

1. FOCAS TimeoutMs:0 footgun (the risky one): a non-positive Timeout made
SynchronizedFocasClient DISABLE its per-call wall-clock ceiling, reverting to
the caller's long-lived poll token — reintroducing exactly the frozen-peer
wedge S7 just eliminated, under misconfig. Clamp non-positive TimeoutMs to the
2s default at the config boundary so the deadline can never be authored away.

2. TimeoutMs validation symmetry: apply the same clamp in the AbCip + AbLegacy
factories. libplctag's Tag.Timeout setter throws on <=0, faulting tag creation
on every read/write; clamping keeps a misconfigured TimeoutMs:0 running on the
default bound instead. (Shared PositiveTimeoutOrDefault helper per factory.)

3. AbLegacy reconnect parity with AbCip: AbLegacy evicted the cached libplctag
runtime on neither the non-zero-status nor transport-exception read/write path
(AbCip evicts on both), so a data-path fault recovered only via the probe loop
/ libplctag internals. Added EvictRuntime + wired it into both read and write
failure paths so a fresh handle is created on the next call.

Tests: FOCAS 265->269 (clamp theory + positive), AbCip 336->339 (clamp theory +
positive), AbLegacy 209->212 (read-nonzero / read-exception / write-nonzero evict).
No production regressions; all three driver suites green.

Joseph Doherty 235b8b8e6d fix(focas): serialize per-device wire I/O + bound reads; tolerate AdminUI config formats
Equipment tags were stuck at Bad_WaitingForInitialData on the deployed driver: the equipment poll, fixed-tree loop, probe and recycle shared one FOCAS/2 socket with no serialization, and the steady-state read had no timeout — concurrent reads collided and a stalled read hung forever, never overwriting the node's initial-data seed.

- SynchronizedFocasClient: per-device SemaphoreSlim gate + per-call timeout around every wire op (Connect/Probe gated, not double-bounded); wired in EnsureConnectedAsync. ReadAsync/WriteAsync map a per-call timeout to BadCommunicationError instead of rethrowing.
- FlexibleStringConverter on FOCAS config Series: the AdminUI persists the enum as a number ("series":6); accept number-or-string instead of throwing -> stub.
- FocasHostAddress.TryParse tolerates a scheme-less {ip}[:{port}] (AdminUI hostAddress form); canonical focas:// unchanged, malformed schemes still rejected.

247 FOCAS tests green; each fix has a regression test. Live-validated on wonder-app-vd03 (tags read Good).
