The Wave-2 lanes gave AbCip, AbLegacy and TwinCAT real whole-array write
encoders (review 07 U10/U9), but the capability table still listed all three
as scalar-only, so every array node materialised read-only and a client write
was BadNotWritable before it reached the driver.
Rows added, each listing only what WriteAsync encodes end to end:
- AbCip: SInt/USInt/Int/UInt/DInt/UDInt/Real/Dt/LInt/ULInt/LReal, declared
length, not a safetyTag. BOOL/STRING/Structure arrays stay read-only.
- AbLegacy: Int/AnalogInt on N/B/A, Long on L, Float on F (file-width match),
plain <file><n>:<word> address, <= 256 elements; not /bit, .sub, indirect,
S:/I:/O:, nor native PLC-5.
- TwinCAT: every codec element type, declared length; not a BOOL bit-in-word
path.
Elements convert in all three encoders, so the rows never key on an exact
node DataType (ScadaBridge int[] -> Int16 stays writable); they leave out
only node types whose elements never convert (DateTime/String over numeric,
Boolean on AbLegacy, STRING under DateTime on TwinCAT: culture-dependent).
Tests: driver-level parity for each driver (every element type x node type
plus shape cases, against the real write path), the AbLegacy parity tests
un-skipped, Core.Abstractions row tests, a composer test (three drivers
writable, refused shapes read-only), and the existing AbCip negative cases
moved to a BOOL array. Docs: Uns.md table, per-driver docs, data-plane rules.

Review m-6. The XML doc said the token is cancelled on timeout only.
ScriptRunGuard links it to the caller's token
(CreateLinkedTokenSource(ct)), so it is also cancelled on shutdown or
when the evaluating actor stops mid-run. The doc now says so.

It had no production sender: every driver data change is already a
batch, and the comms-loss fan was converted earlier. DependencyMuxActor
drops its per-value receive, DriverInstanceActor drops the record, and
DependencyMuxActorTests' 13 sends move to the ValuePublishes.Single
one-item batch (same semantics through the batch path). XML docs and
the living docs (DriverLifecycle, VirtualTags, ScriptEditor) are
reworded; historical plan docs are left as written.

ScriptContext.CancellationToken is backed by an AsyncLocal that
ScriptEvaluator.RunAsync scopes around the compiled delegate, so it is
exactly the token ScriptRunGuard cancels on timeout. A polling script
can now end its own abandoned run and free the slot. AsyncLocal rather
than a field because the scripted-alarm engine reuses one context per
alarm: an orphan keeps seeing its own cancelled token. The scoping
entry point is internal (IVT to Core.Scripting) so a script cannot
replace its own token.
Editor parity: ScriptAnalysisService dot-completion now walks the
receiver's base chain (instance members only, stopping before
System.Object). Before this, a member declared only on ScriptContext
compiled and published but never completed. DiagnoseTests pins the
member as allow-listed; CompletionTests pins the completion.

Program.cs binds ScriptingOptions from Scripting:* once, clamps every
numeric knob through ScriptingOptions.Sanitized (logging a Warning per
adjustment) and registers the one instance. It now reaches all three
script seams: RoslynVirtualTagEvaluator, the scripted-alarm engine
built in DriverHostActor (new trailing Props parameter, wired in
WithOtOpcUaRuntimeActors) and every Calculation driver (node options
as the base, per-driver config keys override one knob on a copy).
ScriptRunGuard sanitizes again in its ctor and computes the stuck
threshold with a saturating multiply, so an absurd
StuckOrphanQuarantineFactor can no longer throw OverflowException on
a refused run.

Ruling refinement on I1. Only timeouts are strikes, so a never-returning
while(true), which times out once and is then only refused, was never
quarantined, and that defeated E1. A refusal now quarantines immediately
when the orphan it was refused behind has been executing for longer than
ScriptingOptions.StuckOrphanQuarantineFactor x the script's timeout
(default 10, so 20 s at the 2 s default; 0 or less disables it). It uses
the same quarantine path: one Error, otopcua.script.quarantined with
reason=stuck, Bad, lifted on source change or redeploy. A young orphan
(a short overrun) is still a plain refusal.
The guard stamps the run's start (Stopwatch timestamp) when the pool
picks it up and clears it when the run really finishes.
Tests: the 30-trigger while(true) regression (paced) now ends
quarantined with reason "stuck", still with exactly one orphan and a
healthy sibling. Positive control: a 2x overrun is refused, not
quarantined, and evaluates again once the orphan completes. A factor of
0 disables the rule. Docs (ScriptEditor "Runtime safety", VirtualTags)
and the seam remarks are updated.

The one-snapshot refactor re-sorted every collection in memory with an ordinal comparer, while the old
composer's SQL ORDER BY used the database's case-insensitive collation; mixed-case keys therefore re-hashed
an unchanged configuration (spurious drift fleet-wide, a "new" revision on a no-op redeploy). The snapshot
factory now reads every composed table ORDER BY its natural key server-side and Compose serialises in the
order given. Pinned byte-for-byte against a verbatim replica of the old composer on the real SQL Server.

- ScriptLogRateLimiter.LimitPerWindow. The ScriptLogTopicSink and
VirtualTagActor summaries now print the configured limit, not
DefaultLimitPerWindow. Tests assert "limit N/window" for a non-default
N.
- CalculationDriver.Dispose cancels, then takes _evalGate (bounded 2 s)
and disposes the gate and _evalCts. The pump and timer ticks enter the
gate through TryEnterEvalGateAsync, which stops cleanly once the
driver is disposed. Test: Dispose with a 6 s runaway run in flight
returns promptly, disposes both, and a late trigger is harmless.
- ScriptedAlarmEngine captures _shutdownToken once and disposes
_shutdownCts in Dispose when every drained task has completed. A task
stuck past the grace leaves the CTS to the GC. Lifecycle tests assert
the disposal.
- DraftValidator: CalculationNoEffectiveTrigger is skipped for a
change-triggered tag whose scriptId does not resolve. That case is
already CalculationScriptMissing or CalculationScriptNotFound, and
there are no reads to count. Both existing tests now assert the
absence (red before the change).
- docs/VirtualTags.md: System.Threading is denied as a whole namespace,
with an allow-list; the type list is now accurate (Unsafe,
RuntimeHelpers, and the ForbiddenMembers on System.Type); the resource
limits section covers the run guard and the allocation budget.
docs/ScriptEditor.md: accurate deny-list and a new "Runtime safety"
section covering timeout, refusal, quarantine after 3 timeouts,
allocation budget, lifting, and rate-limit summaries that appear only
on the source's next entry after a burst then quiet.

- I1 ScriptRunGuard: a run refused because the previous one is still
executing is a Bad publish plus otopcua.script.run_refused, and no longer
a quarantine strike. Only a timeout (and an allocation breach) counts;
a refusal neither adds to nor resets the timeout streak; a completed run
(value or throw) resets it. On a 1 Hz trigger with a 2 s budget a single
4 s overrun is one timeout plus two refusals and must not quarantine.
Tests updated across the guard, the alarm engine, the Calculation
evaluator and the VT evaluator, plus
Refusals_neither_count_toward_nor_reset_the_timeout_streak.
- I3 ScriptedAlarmEngine: the quality bucket is tracked only after the
predicate completes (or in the inputs-not-ready path), so the tracked
bucket is the last one annotated. A refused or quarantined predicate
used to re-track the input bucket Good before the attempt and then flip
it Bad, emitting QualityChanged on every push. The run-guard tests now
count emissions (exactly 1 across N pushes, refused and quarantined
cases), with a healthy sibling's dispatch count as the positive control
that every push was processed. Both were red before the fix.

- R02:H1 ScriptedAlarmHostActor gains a factory Props
(Func<(upstream, engine)>) so every incarnation builds and owns its own
engine; a supervision restart no longer re-creates the actor around a
disposed engine. The legacy instance-taking Props stays source-compatible
and is now restart-safe in the weaker sense (PreRestart marks the stop as
a restart, PostStop then detaches instead of disposing). DriverHostActor
still spawns through the legacy overload (not owned by this lane — F3).
- R02:H3 OnAlarmCommand runs every engine op under a 10 s token linked to
the actor's lifetime (DefaultCommandTimeout / Props commandTimeout) and
logs a Warning on timeout instead of suspending the mailbox on a stalled
store.
- R02:L3 DependencyMuxTagUpstreamSource.RetainOnly(loaded dep-ref union),
called after every successful load.
- R02:P6 VirtualTagActor's per-failure ScriptLogEntry is rate-limited per
tag (ScriptLogRateLimiter, 20/min + one summary); the Bad publish and the
metric are untouched.
- R07:H6 DependencyMuxActor retains the last (value, status, ts) per
ever-registered ref (through unregisters) and replays them in one batch to
a RegisterInterest(ReplayRetained: true) — VirtualTagActor, the Calculation
mux adapter and the alarm host opt in; the historization recorder does not
(a replay there would record a stale sample per deploy). CalculationDriver
records inputs regardless of _running so a replay landing before
InitializeAsync still satisfies the change-gate.
- R07:P4 CalculationEvaluator negative-caches compile failures by source
hash (one Roslyn attempt + one Warning per source until redeploy); the
driver's script-log entry fires on the Good→Bad transition or a change of
reason, matching the once-per-transition Bad publish.
- R07:H8 array results dedup structurally.
- R07:L2 ShutdownAsync drops the compiled scripts (collectible ALCs).
- R07:U5 DraftValidator rule CalculationNoEffectiveTrigger: a tag with no
timer whose change trigger is off or whose script has no literal
ctx.GetTag read can never evaluate.

R05:10 — the namespace deny-list covered System.Threading.Tasks but not
System.Threading, so SemaphoreSlim / Monitor / SpinWait / Mutex /
EventWaitHandle could park a script's pool thread past its budget (or touch a
system-global kernel object); System.Type.GetType(string) / GetMethod* /
InvokeMember and System.Runtime.CompilerServices.RuntimeHelpers resolved and
reach a forbidden type without naming it syntactically.
ForbiddenTypeAnalyzer now denies the whole System.Threading namespace with a
type-granular allow-list (CancellationToken, Interlocked, Volatile — the
sync-free primitives), adds a member deny-list for System.Type's reflection
entry points (GetType/GetMethod(s)/InvokeMember/GetProperty(ies)/GetField(s)/
GetMember(s)/GetConstructor(s)/GetEvent(s)/GetDefaultMembers; instance
object.GetType() stays allowed) and puts RuntimeHelpers on the type deny-list.
Thread/ThreadPool/Timer leave the type list — the prefix rule reaches them.
R05:11 — the allocation budget landed with E1's ScriptRunGuard
(Scripting:MaxAllocBytesPerRun, default 64 MB): sampled around each run,
breach quarantines. It is observation after the fact; a pre-emptive OOM guard
still needs an out-of-process runner (follow-up issue in the lane report).
The Monaco editor shares the analyzer, so DiagnoseTests pins every new form
as an OTSCRIPT_FORBIDDEN marker and every allow-listed form as clean.

A timed-out script is abandoned, not stopped, and every seam re-ran it on the
next trigger, leaking one pool thread per trigger (R03:1.1, R05:2, R07:L1).
A shared ScriptRunGuard, keyed per script instance, now:
- refuses a run while that script's previous orphan is still executing
(Bad "previous evaluation still running" + otopcua.script.run_refused);
- quarantines after 3 consecutive non-completions or an allocation-budget
breach (sampled with GC.GetAllocatedBytesForCurrentThread; default 64 MB):
no further dispatch, Bad quality, one Error, otopcua.script.quarantined,
cleared on source change / redeploy / reset;
- starts the budget clock when the pool picks the run up, so starvation is
no longer charged to the script (R07:P5), and cancels the evaluator token
on timeout.
Wired into RoslynVirtualTagEvaluator, CalculationEvaluator (new async
EvaluateAsync; the driver's pump and timer ticks now await the run behind a
SemaphoreSlim gate) and ScriptedAlarmEngine (a non-completing predicate
holds state and annotates the condition BadInternalError). ScriptingOptions
(Scripting:MaxAllocBytesPerRun, Scripting:QuarantineAfterConsecutiveTimeouts)
carries the knobs; the Calculation driver config accepts the same two keys.
Tests: guard unit suite (incl. the 30-trigger runaway leaving one orphan with
a healthy sibling as positive control), per-seam refusal/quarantine/reset
tests. The S12 race test now uses one vtag id per loop: twelve concurrent
evaluations of ONE id is a shape production never produces and the guard
refuses by design.

CallTimeoutSeconds was bound, defaulted and documented but consumed
nowhere. TelemetryDialSupervisor now arms a per-generation deadline on
every dial: a dial that has delivered no event by the deadline is
cancelled and treated as a transport failure (reconnect with a failure
streak). A live node replays its snapshots on subscribe, so this bites
only a dial that never connects (a black-holed host, where the socket
connect has no timeout). An established stream is deliberately not
bounded — the wire has no heartbeat, keepalive pings own its liveness.

StartDeployment read the whole config DB twice with no transaction — DraftSnapshotFactory for
the validator, then ConfigComposer for the artifact, plus clusters/nodes and Script.SourceCode
again in between. An AdminUI save landing between the two shipped an artifact the DraftValidator
never saw.
- DraftSnapshot carries ServerClusters, ClusterNodes and ApiKeys; DraftSnapshotFactory reads
every table inside one SNAPSHOT transaction on a relational provider (no-op on InMemory or
under an ambient transaction).
- ConfigComposer.Compose(DraftSnapshot) is pure over the snapshot (ordinal-sorted keys);
SnapshotAndFlattenAsync(db) delegates to it, byte-identical.
- AdminOperationsActor validates topology, estimates compile cost and composes the artifact
from the one snapshot it holds.
- Migration EnableSnapshotIsolation: ALTER DATABASE CURRENT SET ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION ON
(suppressTransaction; no model change).
Tests: the SQL Server snapshot read ignores a row committed mid-read (positive control: a later
read sees it); an edit injected between the Equipment and Tags reads is absent from the shipped
artifact and rejected by the next deploy; Compose(snapshot) == SnapshotAndFlattenAsync(db).

DriverInstanceActor.PostStop now bounds IDriver.ShutdownAsync by a
shutdownTimeout (default 5 s, logged on overrun) and then disposes the
driver (IAsyncDisposable preferred, else IDisposable) — but only on a
real stop. PreRestart flags the restart so the PostStop it triggers
skips the dispose, because a supervision restart re-uses the same
driver object (Props closure) and the host re-initialises it.
DiscoveryDriverBrowser disposes its throwaway capture/probe driver
after the bounded shutdown, including after a failed or timed-out one.

Clears CommentChecker findings in src/ (3,280 -> 209, the remainder being false
positives like PLC-5/IEEE-754/M0.0) by adding missing summaries/params/returns,
normalising inheritdoc usage, and removing Gitea/review tracking IDs while keeping
the rationale they annotated. Comment-only: comment-stripped sources are identical
to the parent commit.
Item 1: IHistorianDataSource.MaxRawValuesPerRead (Gateway: learned ceiling - 16 = L; 0 elsewhere, guard-tested).
RawPageLimit plans every raw page on top of #692's lookahead: with L > 0 the read (page P + boundary ties k
+ lookahead) is <= L, P = min(N, L - k - 1) (uncapped: L - k - 1); no room => straight to the tie-cluster
over-fetch (never an uncapped or underflowing request). One re-plan + re-read when the read taught a new
limit or was refused for crowding pre-window rows (HistoryReadLimitExceededException.PreWindowRows): the
page shrinks by them. Over-fetch bound min(MaxTieClusterOverfetch, L - 1); slice size never 0.
Review fixes: F1 a window starting at/before the epoch counts AVEVA's synthetic row as pre-window (a
ceiling-truncated read was reported complete); F2 the page path disables ReverseRawReader's own re-run
(cold end-only ceiling 20/N=3000 cost 3,023 reads, now <= 40); F3 crowded look-back re-read around, not
refused; F4 the #687 crowding re-read room at least doubles (up to 8 re-reads), so a cluster of hundreds
just before a resume point no longer fails on a default gateway; a crowding refusal that leaves no room
is BadTooManyOperations, never a tick-by-tick cursor.
Item 2: ServerHistorian:EventReadHorizon (default 00:00:00 = exact, unchanged). When set, every fresh
HistoryReadEvents window's earlier bound is raised to now - horizon (both directions, all backends).
Lossy by design; documented.
Item 3 (native TimeAverage/Total re-check) stays blocked on historiangw#27.
Review follow-up: on the Gateway every value is a Double (AVEVA stores a Boolean
as a 0/1 Int2), so the raw-evaluated AtTime interpolated a Boolean node to 0.5.
- IHistorianDataSource gains a default-interface overload
ReadAtTimeAsync(fullReference, timestamps, TypeCode? valueType, ct) that
forwards to the existing one (SqlServer/QuestDB/Null/fakes unchanged).
- OtOpcUaNodeManager.HistoryReadAtTime passes the node's scalar DataType
(AtTimeValueType: built-in type -> TypeCode; arrays/other types => null);
Raw and UNS NodeIds alike.
- GatewayAtTimeReader converts each raw row to the hinted kind BEFORE the shared
AtTimeEvaluator runs (Boolean = value != 0 => stepped; integers => Int64 =>
interpolated, rounded half away from zero, returned as the node's integer
type; floats Double), so the evaluator's own type branch decides.
- AtTimeEvaluator boxed every interpolated Int64 as a Double (`cond ? (long)x :
v` widens to double); its "keeping its type" test passed because Shouldly
ShouldBe compares numbers across types. Fixed (affects SqlServer/QuestDB too)
and pinned with ShouldBeOfType.
The null source has no history in either direction; reporting false
made the server walk an empty reverse events read back through three
empty forward reads. It now answers the reverse overload with the empty
result itself (guard test unchanged: it still declares both members).
A reverse or end-only capped events read on a backend without
SupportsReverseEvents (Gateway, Null) was refused
BadHistoryOperationUnsupported (explicit reverse) or answered with the
OLDEST N ascending (end-only, #675). It is now served newest-first by
the same ReverseWalk as raw reads: page-sized ms-aligned segments,
never answered from a read the source flagged truncated, ties sorted by
EventId (the gateway orders by event time only - the fake shuffles
them per call), one extra event walked to signal 'more', uncapped = one
forward read reversed, and the width + proven-empty stretch carried in
the events cursor. The oversized-cluster over-fetch keeps exactly the
events at T in the same order. A tie cluster over the budget is
BadTooManyOperations. Docs note the gateway's EventReadMaxRows must be
unlimited (it truncates silently).
#669 turned an end-only capped HistoryRead-Raw into a reverse read (start > end)
for every backend; the gateway rejects start > end (InvalidArgument), so on the
default Gateway backend every end-only capped and every explicit reverse raw read
failed the node and was counted as a backend health failure.
- IHistorianDataSource.SupportsReverseRaw (default false; SqlServer/QuestDB/Null
true, Gateway false; guard test pins that every production backend declares it).
- OtOpcUaNodeManager sends a reverse window only to a backend that declares it;
otherwise ReverseRawReader walks (lo, hi] back in bounded forward segment reads
(1 min, x4 while sparse; each <= MaxTieClusterOverfetch + 1 rows; a full read is
re-read narrower, never answered truncated; filtered on sample timestamps, which
also drops AVEVA's fabricated query-start rows; stops at the Unix epoch). A
one-timestamp tie cluster over the bound => BadTooManyOperations.
- ServeRawPagedAsync maps HistoryReadLimitExceededException to BadTooManyOperations.
- GatewayHistorianDataSource.ReadRawAsync refuses start > end unsent, without
recording a health failure.
ServerCapabilities/AggregateFunctions (i=2997) is Part 5's list of every
aggregate the server supports, and live AggregateFilter subscriptions still
compute all 37 SDK aggregates, so it keeps the SDK's full set; only i=11201
follows the backend. A null SupportedAggregates is treated as the interface
default (all) by both the advertisement and HistoryRead-Processed (it used to
NRE inside the batch). Docs: i=2997/i=11201 split and the boot window.

is the one authority for both ServerCapabilities/AggregateFunctions (i=2997) and

AggregateModeMapper.Served (4), SqlServer/QuestDB AggregateFamilies.Served (17),
Null none. Only the folder references are trimmed; the SDK's calculator

- HistoryUpdate Primary gate now reads IHistoryUpdateRoleView (PrimaryGatePolicy.ShouldServeHistoryUpdate):
the data-plane verdict but CLOSED until this node's first redundancy snapshot, so both pair nodes cannot
accept in the pre-join boot window. Single nodes open on their own singleton's first snapshot; admin-only
nodes register no view => no gate. DriverHostActor publishes it at every Primary-verdict publish point.
- SqlServer v1: the updater throws NotSupportedException on every arm; the node manager maps it to a
node-level BadHistoryOperationUnsupported (was per-item under a Good node for UpdateData/DeleteAtTime).
HistoryWrite bit still advertised on v1 (not knowable at materialise time) — documented.
- The update plan is evaluated before the Primary gate: an unservable request (Remove, IsDeleteModified,
not historized, no updater) is BadHistoryOperationUnsupported off-Primary, not BadInvalidState.
- Local-kind SourceTimestamp converted to UTC before the future-skew compare and sent as UTC.
- Hosted-service wiring extracted to BuildHistoryUpdatePosture and tested (gate source, skew, clock).

- IHistorianDataSource.SupportsReverseEvents (default false; SqlServer/QuestDB true; Gateway/Null declare false).
The node manager checks it BEFORE calling the source: an end-only capped events read becomes reverse only on
a supporting backend (Gateway, the default, keeps the pre-#675 forward [MinValue, EndTime) paging), and an
explicit reverse read on a non-supporting backend is BadHistoryOperationUnsupported without a call.
- Removed the broad catch (NotSupportedException) in the events path: a NotSupportedException from inside a
backend is now logged as a backend fault (Error), not an 'unsupported' Warning.
- Null declares the reverse overload itself; guard test: every production IHistorianDataSource declares both
the reverse overload and the capability (positive-control scan of all four backends).
- Conformance: capability reported + oversized reverse tie cluster (forward over-fetch reversed == reverse
read order; capped reverse read stopping inside the cluster flags truncation) on SqlServer + QuestDB.
- docs/Historian.md: end-only capped events read is backward on SqlServer/QuestDB, forward on Gateway.
- Endpoint rewrite: the driver now connects to the configured host AND port (scheme
match, advertised path kept) instead of the server-advertised URL — fixes NAT/port-map
upstreams and lets an in-test proxy carry the session (SDK SelectEndpoint rule).
- TcpStallProxy + OpcUaClientDriverStallWireTests: the in-place blip (#670) is now
wire-tested on loopback — one Bad, frozen read stamp, same session, identical value
republished Good, a post-recovery change arrives, no source-time regression after
the SDK's late backlog flush.
- Defect found by that test, fixed: a change published right after a stall rode a
Publish response the SDK timed out and never republished, leaving the node Good on
the pre-change value indefinitely. New trailing reconcile read (Timeout +
KeepAliveInterval after recovery) publishes any Good value newer than the last
accepted one, through the replay guard's mark.
- IDriverConnectionLossSource (Core.Abstractions): opt-in definitive-loss signal.
DriverInstanceActor attaches in PreStart / detaches in PostStop and turns a raise
into a disconnect only while Connected. OpcUaClient raises once per session on
keep-alive BadSessionIdInvalid/BadSessionClosed/BadSessionNotActivated/
BadServerHalted (measured: the SDK never re-opens a halted channel) or a dropped
subscription; ambiguous codes stay with the #527 watchdog.
- Replay guard: one Information summary per recovery when the window closes
("dropped N late notifications across M refs"), with a timer so quiet
subscriptions log it too.
- ReconnectPeriod deleted (options, AdminUI form, docs, tests); stored configs that
carry reconnectPeriod still parse in the factory, probe and browser.
- Docs: OpcUaClient.md, DriverLifecycle.md, driver-specs.md, CLAUDE.md.
- IHistorianDataSource.ReadEventsAsync(..., bool reverse, ...) overload: reverse = Part 11 window (lo, hi]
newest-first by (time, id) DESC. Default forwards forward reads and throws NotSupportedException for
reverse (Null); Gateway refuses explicitly (ascending-only stream). Server answers
BadHistoryOperationUnsupported instead of silently returning the earliest N ascending.
- SqlServer / QuestDB serve reverse natively (ORDER BY time DESC, id DESC + TOP/LIMIT).
- Node manager: reverse event reads page with continuation points; direction stored in the cursor
(HistoryContinuationState.Reverse) so a resume continues in the cursor's direction; reverse tie clusters
over-fetched forward and sliced from the newest end (SliceTieCluster(reverse:)); end-only reads with a
cap page backward from EndTime (mirrors raw).
- Resumed event pages over-fetch by the boundary skip, so every non-final page is a full cap page.
- Tests: node-manager reverse paging (ties, clusters, coarse resolution, overfetch bound, resume
direction both ways, end-only, unsupported backend); shared EventReadConformance on SqlServer +
QuestDB; over-the-wire reverse paging; offline Gateway pin of the UTC DateTime.MaxValue bound through
the published client's proto conversion (in-process gRPC capture) and FILETIME.
- docs/Historian.md event paging section.
- HistoryModifiedValue gains explicit SourceTimeUtc (SqlServer + QuestDB populate it); the node manager's resume cursor uses it instead of the prior value's nullable source timestamp (MinValue for inserts).
- ACL test now uses a trail-returning data source and asserts Good + data on the allow leg.
- Node-manager tests: end-only backward open-ended paging, reverse resume cursor, null-prior cursor.
- QuestDB updater logs a Warning (tag + time range) when a sample write fails after its trail rows landed.
- docs/Historian.md: rolling-upgrade window, IDENTITY-vs-commit ordering, QuestDB cross-node ModifiedId clock ordering.
Every HistoryUpdate a SQL backend applies now leaves a modification trail
(prior value, principal, Part 11 update type, modification time), and
HistoryReadRaw with IsReadModified=true serves it as HistoryModifiedData.
- Core: HistoryUpdateContext threaded into all three IHistorianDataUpdater
methods; IHistorianDataSource.ReadModifiedAsync (default NotSupported =>
BadHistoryOperationUnsupported on Gateway/Null); HistoryModified* contracts.
- SqlServer: schema v2 (002_sample_modified.sql, RequiredVersion=2, docs copy);
trail written by OUTPUT ... INTO on the same MERGE/DELETE statement, so a
failed update leaves no audit row; retention purges SampleModified per tag on
the source-time cutoff; ReadModifiedAsync keyed on (SourceTimeUtc, ModifiedId).
- QuestDB: append-only {prefix}sample_modified (TTL like samples), trail row
written BEFORE the change (orphan-on-crash, never an untracked change);
existence reads now carry the prior value; ReadModifiedAsync.
- Node manager: modified reads dispatch + page via the #669 continuation store
(HistoryContinuationState gains HistoryCursorKind + LastModifiedId), gated by
the existing HistoryRead decision; session principal / key id passed to the
updater. IsDeleteModified stays unsupported.
- Client.CLI: historyread --modified.
- Tests: node-manager dispatch/paging/cursor binding/principal threading,
over-the-wire HistoryModifiedData, shared ModifiedValueConformance on both
backends, SqlServer atomicity (forced trail failure => no change) + v1->v2
upgrade + retention trail purge.

security.md, Client.CLI.md, CLAUDE.md.
F1: the driver's outage BadNoCommunication carried the last Good sample's
source timestamp. The recorder historizes SourceTimestampUtc ??
ServerTimestampUtc, so the Bad landed on the Good row's (TagId,
SourceTimeUtc) key and the insert-if-absent historian dropped it - no
outage marker until the host's watchdog marker ~95 s in, none at all for
a short blip. Now stamped with the detection time (source + server), as
the host's comms-loss fan does.
F2: after a same-session recovery the SDK delivered a missed notification
seconds late with an older source time and the node regressed. A
notification older than the newest Good upstream source time for its ref
(notification or recovery read) is dropped and counted
(stale_notification_dropped); equal timestamps pass; the outage Bad never
moves the comparison; a re-initialise resets it.
M1: the time-weighted family (incl. Total, formerly a pushed-down SUM) streams
raw window rows into the C# evaluator. New shared knob
ServerHistorian:MaxTimeWeightedRawRows (default 1,000,000; <=0 unbounded with a
Validate warning) flows through HistorianBackendRegistry into both providers.
The window query is capped at cap+1 (SQL Server TOP (@maxRows), QuestDB LIMIT $4);
one row past the cap throws the new Core.Abstractions
HistoryReadLimitExceededException, which the node manager maps to
BadTooManyOperations for that node. Not counted as a backend health failure;
bound rows are not counted; per-sample aggregates are not capped.
M2: reverse Interpolative is anchored at the later time (Part 13): points at
End - i*interval, emitted latest first. 10:00->09:00 @1h yields 10:00.
L1: Partial bit (0x4, = Opc.Ua.AggregateBits.Partial) on non-Bad results of a
truncated last interval (time-weighted family; per-sample family is a follow-up).
L2/L3: aligned with the SDK AggregateCalculator.GetTimeBasedStatusCode
(decompiled from Opc.Ua.Server 1.5.378.106): TreatUncertainAsBad=false counts
Uncertain time (Uncertain samples, held-into-outage, extrapolation) as Good
time; data but no non-Bad time => generic Bad (0x80000000); BadNoData only
when there is no data at all. Consequence: a live tag's latest interval reads
Good (documented).
L5: release note no longer claims Total matches the Gateway Integral exactly
(AVEVA's divisor is unverified); it notes Total is now evaluated in C# and
subject to the cap.
Tests: unit (reverse Interpolative x3, Partial, Bad vs BadNoData incl. an
open-ended outage, cap helpers, SDK bit oracles); conformance (reverse
Interpolative, raw-row cap at/over/0, bounds not counted, health unaffected);
node manager BadTooManyOperations; options default + warning. Each new
behaviour falsified by mutation (aggregator x9, data-source cap checks on
both backends against the real DBs, node-manager catch).
New AggregateFamily.TimeWeighted serving TimeAverage, TimeAverage2, Total,
Total2 and Interpolative, evaluated by the shared Sql.Common
TimeWeightedAggregator for both SQL backends (identical results by
construction). HistoryAggregateType gains TimeAverage2 + Total2 (appended);
OtOpcUaNodeManager.MapAggregate maps their NodeIds. Gateway's mapper already
refuses unknown defined members => BadAggregateNotSupported per node.
Semantics (server defaults, client AggregateConfiguration ignored):
TreatUncertainAsBad=false, PercentDataBad=PercentDataGood=100,
UseSlopedExtrapolation=false. Sloped for Double/Int64, stepped for Boolean;
a usable sample followed by a Bad one is held up to the outage (AtTime rule);
stepped Uncertain extrapolation past the last sample. TimeAverage/Total use
interpolated bounding (bridge outages); TimeAverage2/Total2 exclude Bad time.
Bounding values: latest usable + latest any before start, first any + first
usable at/after end (four TOP 1 / LIMIT 1 seeks).
CLIENT-VISIBLE: Total on SqlServer/QuestDb was SUM of samples; it is now the
time-weighted integral (TimeAverage x interval seconds), matching Gateway's
Integral. Release note in docs/Historian.md.
Trade-off (deviation from the preferred hybrid pushdown, allowed by the
design): the time-weighted family is NOT pushed down. Each read streams the
window's rows plus the four bounds (SQL Server: one five-result-set batch;
QuestDB: bounds UNION ALL + window select) into the C# evaluator. Network is
O(samples in window), memory O(buckets). Writing the per-segment
interpolation/edge splitting twice in two SQL dialects and keeping them
bit-identical was judged the bigger risk; this also makes the QuestDB
lag/lead spike moot.
Tests: 35 hand-computed TimeWeightedAggregator unit cases (each of 10
implementation mutations goes red); served-aggregate pin 13 -> 17;
conformance sparse fixture (intervals wider and narrower than sample gaps)
+ an outage straddling both window edges (each of the four SQL seeks
disabled in turn goes red); node-manager NodeId mapping test.
A bad keep-alive now degrades health (LastSuccessfulRead preserved) and,
once per outage, publishes BadNoCommunication (value retained) for every
subscribed ref plus a quality-only annotation on subscribed alarm
conditions. Good keep-alives and data/event notifications advance
LastSuccessfulRead, so an idle-but-alive subscription never looks dead
to the #527 watchdog. A keep-alive that recovers on the same session
re-reads the Bad refs and republishes them Good; a session that does not
come back is recovered by the watchdog's ShutdownAsync + InitializeAsync
+ re-subscribe.
Deletes the SessionReconnectHandler wiring (it retried forever in SDK
1.5.378, cloned subscriptions the driver never re-tracked and kept health
Healthy), OnReconnectComplete, TryRearmReconnect and the reconnect_*
counters (new keepalive_recovered). Teardown of a lost session skips
wire deletes and bounds CloseSession. SDK warnings reach the driver log.
Wire test reworked: restart => Bad, then watchdog-style reinit => Good.
IHistorianDataSource.TimestampResolutionTicks (default 1; QuestDB 10). A drained tie
cluster now steps off T by the resolution, so a forward one-value-per-page read on a
microsecond backend no longer re-reads the same sample forever (C1). QuestDB AtTime
results carry the client's original request time (M3); regression for the NEXT seek
skipping a tombstone (M1). Conformance backend wires the real writer and updater.

- OtOpcUaNodeManager overrides HistoryUpdateData / HistoryDeleteRawModified / HistoryDeleteAtTime,
block-bridging to the optional IHistorianDataUpdater under the shared HistoryRead batch limiter +
deadline. Insert/Replace/Update map to HistoryUpdateMode; Remove, IsDeleteModified, events and
structure data are BadHistoryOperationUnsupported. Per-item codes stitched back in request order
(MinValue SourceTimestamp => BadInvalidTimestamp, untypeable value => BadTypeMismatch); success
clears the base's pre-seeded Unsupported error.
- HistoryWrite AccessLevel bit OR-ed in for historized nodes when an updater is wired (raw + UNS);
it is dispatch-load-bearing in the SDK base. OtOpcUaSdkServer.SetHistorianDataUpdater; the hosted
service assigns it from an optional HistorianUpdaterHolder before SetSink, clears it on stop.
- AuthorizeHistoryUpdate: ACL on => scoped OpcUaOperation.HistoryUpdate decision (replaces the role
check); ACL off => #563 key re-check + new OpcUaDataPlaneRoles.HistoryUpdate role, conferred by
ApiKeyInterimRoleMapper only from a Cluster-scoped HistoryUpdate grant (WriteOperate does not).
- AdminUI ACL editor offers NodePermissions.HistoryUpdate.
