One SemaphoreSlim serialised reads, writes, subscribes, acks and the whole recursive
discovery browse, so a stalled write (up to the operation timeout) blocked every
read and subscription create, and a discovery browse would block the data plane for
its full duration. Reads/acks keep the read gate; writes and DiscoverAsync are
ungated (the SDK session is safe for concurrent service calls, the host bounds write
concurrency); subscription management takes its own gate. Dispose drains both
(DisposeAsync's drain no longer over-releases on a timed-out wait).

A failed SUBSCRIBE (refusal or no broker verdict) used to drop its topic from every
retry set while SubscribeAsync returned a live handle, leaving tags dark behind a
Healthy connection until a redeploy. Failed topics now join a pending set retried by
the next SubscribeAsync and by every reconnect (not counted toward the reconnect's
total-failure verdict, so an ACL-denied topic cannot reconnect-loop). A no-verdict
subscribe degrades its refs then throws so the actor's reconcile re-subscribes. A
subscribe with no transport attached is recorded pending, never established (M-11).

Review r0 M3. The indirect sweep disposed stale resolutions without holding
their gates, and any reader/writer that fetched a handle before waiting on its
gate could then use an instance a sibling had evicted and disposed - a
spurious comms fault and Degraded. The sweep now evicts under each key's gate,
and read/write re-resolve the handle once the gate is held (reconnecting

A deterministic PLC refusal (object does not exist, address out of range,
type inconsistent...) degraded driver health, and an all-refused driver (a
wrong DB number) sat Degraded with LastSuccessfulRead frozen, so the 90 s
comms-loss watchdog reconnected it forever against a reachable PLC.
- IsRefusal / IsAccessDenied classify over the whole exception chain. Live
probe on the snap7 fixture: S7.Net's READ paths raise the item error as a
BARE Exception ("Received error from PLC: ..."), its write paths as
PlcException(WriteData). The old PlcException-only match missed the read
shape entirely, so a real read access-denied was BadCommunicationError +
Degraded instead of the Faulted PUT/GET alert; the Test Connect probe had
the same blind spot.
- A refusal (read or write) is BadDeviceFailure with a once-per-tag Warning,
no health write and no reopen; it counts as answered, so it advances
LastSuccessfulRead and restores Healthy after a comms fault. An undecodable
buffer (S7ValueRangeException) also counts as answered.
- A write batch the CPU answered without a failure advances
LastSuccessfulRead and retires a Degraded the write side itself published.
- Tests that used ReadData as their generic "device fault" now use SendData
so their Degraded leg is still exercised.

Review r0 I3. The array encoder used the AUTHORED dataType's width while both
runtimes size their buffer from the FILE: an Int array on F8 wrote four shorts
into a 16-byte float buffer and sent it all (garbage neighbours, answered
Good); Long/Float on N overran it.
- The write path resolves the element width from the data file the address
names (N/B/A/I/O/S 16-bit word, L 32-bit, F float) and encodes at THAT width.
- An authored type that does not match its file is refused BadTypeMismatch
before any runtime exists (warned once, no health write).
- The same rule (AbLegacyTagDefinitionFactory.ArrayFileMismatch) backs an
Inspect deploy warning and the AdminUI model's Validate error; FromTagConfig
still accepts the tag so persisted configs keep loading.
- M6: the skipped F1 parity test gains the shapes the write path refuses
(/bit, .sub, indirect, type/file mismatch, PLC-5 native).
Tests: one case per file type, a mismatch per pairing with nothing created,
and a positive control.

- Every InitializeAsync/ShutdownAsync bumps a lifecycle generation. The session,
namespace map and endpoint are installed under _probeLock only while the init's
generation is current, so an init the host abandoned that finishes after the next
shutdown discards its session instead of resurrecting it. Every health write
(lifecycle, keep-alive, publish-error, read path) is generation-stamped, so a late
writer can no longer overwrite newer state.
- O-2: the init catch closes and disposes the LOCAL session it opened (it closed the
still-null Session property, orphaning an activated session + keep-alive timer).
- O-9: ShutdownAsync spends ONE budget (4 s, inside the host's 5 s PostStop budget) on
wire calls: every subscription delete concurrently, then the session close with
what remains; waits are abandoned when the budget fires even if the SDK ignores the
token. It used to be 5 s per subscription, serially.

Review r0 I2 + M1/M2/M4/M7/M10.
- I2: one health writer (ApplyHealth) for reads AND writes, worst wins per
call: a comms fault => Degraded; otherwise any answer (Good value, device
refusal, Good or refused write) => Healthy; LastSuccessfulRead advances on
any answer. A refusal-only read used to leave a recovered driver Degraded,
and writes never touched health at all.
- M10: a no-reply write STATUS now degrades like the exception path did; a
Good/refused write records an answer on the device's backoff, a no-reply
one a fault (bit RMW included — it now reports its raw status).
- M2: a write inside the device's backoff window fails fast with
BadCommunicationError even when its handle is cached.
- M1: ShutdownAsync/Dispose write their final Unknown only while the epoch
they retired is still current (a newer initialise owns health otherwise).
- M4: an indirect bit write releases the previous index value's parent-word
handle (the per-word RMW gate is deliberately kept: removing a gate another
writer may hold would let two RMWs of one word race).
- M7: backoff decisions read an injectable Clock; the isolation tests drop
their stopwatch asserts and cross the window on a manual clock.

ScriptedAlarmHostActor builds an empty engine, and nothing re-sent
ApplyScriptedAlarms. Until the next deploy the host had no mux interest
(inputs stopped), and its ownership filter silently dropped every
operator ack and shelve.
The host now tells its parent ScriptedAlarmHostRestarted from
PostRestart. DriverHostActor keeps the last plans it applied and
re-sends ApplyScriptedAlarms when the signal comes from the current
host, in Steady, Applying and Stale. This mirrors how a driver child's
ReprovisionRequested is answered. The OnAlarmsLoaded comment, which
assumed a re-apply that never happened, now says where it comes from.
DriverHostActorScriptedAlarmRestartTests deploys one scripted alarm
through a real host, crashes the alarm host, does NOT re-apply by hand,
and asserts that interest is re-registered, a dependency push activates
the alarm, and an operator ack reaches the engine. It is red without
the signal (times out waiting for the re-registration).

Review r0 I1. On the default libplctag transport a PLC refusal (non-zero PCCC
STS, e.g. an element past the end of the file; or a CIP error) arrives as
ERR_REMOTE_ERR / ERR_BAD_STATUS, which fell into the BadConnection default: a
no-reply comms fault. A coalesced block with one such member then failed as a
group every poll, and two refused tags in a row opened the device's fail-fast
window against a device that was answering.
- LibplctagLegacyStatusTranslation maps ERR_REMOTE_ERR / ERR_BAD_STATUS to the
existing AbStatus.DeviceStateConflict (BadDeviceFailure): "reachable, refused
the operation". No new AbStatus value (Driver.Ab.Transport is Lane K's).
- IsNoReply (Timeout / BadConnection / Abort / Pending / unknown codes) is now
the ONLY comms-fault class; IsDeviceRefusal is every other non-Ok status
except Unsupported (BadReply / Partial included: a reply arrived).
- A coalesced block refused with ANY returned status falls back to per-member
reads in the same pass; the shape is remembered only after a repeat, and the
refused block's handle is always evicted (M5).
- A runtime status Unsupported is neutral (keeps the handle); the probe no
longer counts it as a fault.
- Refusal warnings log the status actually answered (M8).
Live: the new past-end-of-file ab_server case fails on libplctag with the old
translation and passes with it, on slc500/micrologix/plc5 x both transports.

Overlapping InitializeAsync calls (the actor's fire-and-forget init plus a
retry tick) could leak an opened PLC connection and orphan a probe loop: no
gate guarded the lifecycle, only _gate for I/O.
- _lifecycleGate (the Modbus pattern) serialises Initialize / Reinitialize /
Shutdown / Dispose; teardown waits a bounded time, then tears down anyway.
- Every initialize and teardown starts a lifecycle generation. Health writes
(init, read/write passes, poll errors, shutdown) and the init publish carry
it and are dropped once it has moved on, so an abandoned init never
publishes over a later shutdown and a shutdown's final write never clobbers
a newer init. A superseded init disposes what it opened and throws.
- The init publish (options, tag tables, Plc, probe loop) happens under _gate;
the tag tables are built fresh and swapped by one reference write instead of
being cleared in place under live poll passes.
- Read/write passes re-check initialization under _gate, so a pass that waited
out a teardown cannot reopen a connection on a shut-down driver.
- The semaphores are no longer disposed: Dispose can race a running shutdown.

N1: a full alarm-state snapshot also sets the condition's Quality, so it now
supersedes an earlier quality-only write for the same id in the deferred
buffer; a quality arriving after the state is kept and replays after it.
N2 / M1: the replay is not inert on a node the apply KEPT - an SDK-applied
Acknowledge/Confirm/Shelve or an optimistic client Write in the window would
be rolled back (with spurious Part 9 events). The replay is now scoped to
nodes the apply created: variables the applier ensured during this apply
(AddressSpaceApplier.BeginRecordingEnsuredVariables) or every variable after a
full rebuild; conditions in the applied composition but not the previous one
(also on a rebuild, which carries a kept condition's state over). Option (b),
a sink that reports whether a live write landed, needs the Commons
DeferredAddressSpaceSink seam outside this lane (follow-up F7).

Review I-1. Context.Stop is asynchronous, so a removed child kept
publishing through the rest of the apply handler and its own stop.
Those bursts were forwarded after SourceRemoved and re-retained the
removed driver's last Good in the mux, where nothing would ever clear
it while a replay subscriber held the ref (a removed driver never
publishes again, and its PostStop Bad fan resolves no refs once the
index is rebuilt without it).
StopChild and HandleRestartDriver now retire the child (_retiredChildren
+ Context.Watch) before stopping it. ForwardBatchToMux drops a burst
whose Sender is retired, and Terminated (handled in Steady, Applying and
Stale) removes the entry. Akka delivers Terminated after the watched
child's last message, so the set is bounded and a live incarnation is
never filtered. ConnectivityChanged from a retired child is
deliberately not filtered, because the respawn path relies on its Bad
fan.
Tests (review m-3 folded in): a stale burst spoofed as the removed child,
held alive in PostStop by a new RecordingSubscribableDriver.ShutdownGate,
no longer re-retains (red with the guard disabled). New cases cover a
config-change respawn and an operator Restart, each with the new
driver's value replaying as the positive control. The arrange step now
waits for the real subscription set and fishes for both drivers'
values at once (two sequential fishes could discard the other burst).

N1: a refusal of the DWORD-addressed request permanently settled the layout
as per-element, so a tag deployed before the online edit that creates its
BOOL array later read DWORD n and published byte 0 as Good. The native runtime
now keeps an explicit layout (Unsettled / Packed / PerElement) that ONLY a
reply type changes: 0xD3 settles packed (Bits[n/32], bit n%32), 0xC1 settles
per-element (Bits[n]). Refusals and comms faults leave it unsettled, so the
next read asks again. A reply whose type disagrees with the addressing it was
asked under is discarded and re-read once under the shown layout (it would be
some other element), also when an online edit re-types a settled array. A
scalar BOOL answered 0xD3 with no element bit, or not settled packed, is
refused BadTypeMismatch instead of decoding byte 0.
m1: the write-owned Degraded marker is set together with the CAS that installs
it, under one lock, so concurrent failing writes cannot leave it naming a
different instance (a good write then clears it); a refusal-only read batch
still keeps it write-owned.
m2/m3/m5: documented (breaker accounting of a superseded init; libplctag
throw-only NotImplemented assumption; the TypeMismatch write status word is
libplctag-only).
m4: test for a write on an unsettled layout (settles by a read first).

The init-time tag guards THREW: one mis-authored tag (DB1.DBZ0, DB1.DBW0 typed
Float64, T5 typed Int32, a writable Bool array) faulted the whole driver and the
actor retried the same init every 10 s forever, darkening every tag on the PLC.
Neither the editor nor the deploy gate checked any of it.
- S7AddressParser moves to S7.Contracts (same namespace) and a new
S7TagShapeRules there is the single authority on servable shapes.
- S7TagDefinitionFactory.FromTagConfig applies it, so the AdminUI editor, the
deploy gate (Inspect, with the specific reason) and the driver init refuse
the same tags. Init now skips a refused tag (ISkippedTagReporter) instead of
throwing; the throwing RejectUnsupportedTagConfigs is gone.
- New rules on top of the old guards: a narrow type at the wrong access width
(every read failed) and a Bool array not starting at bit 0 (U4: DB1.DBX0.3
silently read bit 0 of bytes 0..n).
- AdminUI test fixtures that used addresses the driver could never serve
(DB1.DBS0, a browse "SomeAddress", Int32/Float32 on DBW) now use real ones.

- I1: the poll engine belongs to a teardown generation. ShutdownAsync/Dispose
retire the current engine and install a fresh one in the same swap as the
device/tag tables, then dispose the retired one (possibly in the background
after a cancelled or over-budget shutdown). A subscription made after the
next InitializeAsync can no longer land in an engine whose late dispose tail
would dispose its CTS without cancelling it (a loop no UnsubscribeAsync could
find). Poll handles are generation-qualified (TwinCATPollHandle) because each
engine numbers handles from 1; SubscribeAsync re-homes a subscription that
raced a retirement.
- M1: a write's status feeds per-device health - Good clears that device's

- M5: WSTRING and multi-dimensional array encode-plan tests; the cancelled-

N1: linkDown is set only when NO reply arrived, i.e. a timeout, a transport exception or
a connect failure. A status the CNC returned proves it answered. EW_REJECT and every
unlisted rc map to BadCommunicationError, so a deterministic rc on one tag used to fail
every later tag of a reachable control on every poll. The comms-classed status still
degrades health. The coalescer already treated a returned refusal this way; it is
unchanged.
Tests: a returned EW_REJECT on tag 1 leaves tags 2 and 3 read and Good (red before). A
timeout still fails the rest without reading them (positive control).
Minors:
- m1: the _lifecycleLock doc now covers the health transitions it also guards.
- m2: the NoteFixedTreeFailed summary says a refusal credits the answer.
- m3: ReadAsync stamps a failed batch's exception with the generation the batch started
under, and HandlePollError degrades that generation only.
- m4: the fixed-tree "blip" absence check runs unconditionally under a wide budget, and
asserts that both ticks landed inside it.
- m5: direct unit cases for the coalescer link-down paths. A transport fault on the first
range fails the second range and the per-tag tag without reading them. A connect
failure costs one connect per batch. CncRelay.Up() retries the re-bind.

I1: the U11 Bits[n] -> Bits[n/32] rewrite was unconditional. The native
runtime now keeps the original element path until the first reply settles the
layout: 0xD3 confirms DWORD addressing (bit n%32); any other reply type (e.g.
a 0xC1 per-element BOOL array) or a refusal of the DWORD index falls back to
Bits[n] and re-reads, and a write settles the layout by a read first, so it can
never decode or write element n/32 of an element-addressed array.
I2: libplctag ErrorNoMatch/ErrorBadDevice no longer fold into NotFound (they
now read as BadConnection: comms, Degraded, LastSuccessfulRead preserved).
ErrorNotImplemented - and the native runtime's own pre-send refusals - raise
AbCipLocalRefusalException: BadNotSupported, no health, LastSuccessfulRead NOT
advanced, no backoff record, not reachable for the probe or Test Connect.
M1: the bit RMW's parent read/write status words follow the health contract
(refusal: per-tag Bad + Warning; comms: evict the parent + Degraded).
M2: device Unsupported read refusals return Refused (advance
LastSuccessfulRead); device write refusals call RecordWriteAnswered (not the
pre-send native type gate).
M3: a good write clears a Degraded a write comms fault recorded (a read-side
Degraded is still left for the read path).
M4: a superseded init throws AbCipInitializationSupersededException (not an
OCE); ShutdownAsync stamps Unknown only if no newer init published meanwhile.
M5: the sync-Dispose timing assert is 2 s against a 4 s probe read; the
unencodable-array test asserts health.

- IMPORTANT: a successful probe records the PLC's ADS state; a PLC not in Run
keeps the driver Degraded with 'PLC in {state}' while LastSuccessfulRead
still advances (the device answered). RecordDeviceAnswered never restores
Healthy while any device is out of Run.
- Health is per device, rolled up worst-of: a comms fault is remembered on the
device it was seen on and only that device answering clears it (device A
answering no longer clears device B's fault).
- Refused (non-comms) dead registrations back off 30 s doubling to 10 min and
are re-armed by a symbol-version change or retried by the reconnect replay;
comms-class failures keep the every-tick retry. A retry whose failure class
changes republishes the tag's status, once.
- Bit-RMW gates are kept across generations and teardowns (never cleared).
- ShutdownAsync honours its CancellationToken: it stops waiting, finishes the
bookkeeping and throws OperationCanceledException.
- Remarks on why a superseded InitializeAsync throws OperationCanceledException.
- REAL / LREAL values (scalar or array element) outside the target range are
OverflowException -> BadOutOfRange instead of being written as Infinity.
- String / array write encoding factored into AdsTwinCATClient.PlanStringWrite
/ PlanArrayWrite; the fake runs them so a driver-level test covers the real
encode path against a fake resolved symbol.
- Timing-fragile tests use condition waits / measured probe-tick windows; the
dispose-during-shutdown test asserts ordering with a 1 s bound.

I1: Task.WhenAll waits for the slowest device, so concurrency alone still let a device
that accepts TCP and then stalls cost (its tag count x call timeout) per batch. After the
first timeout, transport failure or comms-class status on a device, its remaining tags in
the batch now fail BadCommunicationError immediately, the same as the coalescer's
FailMembers, which now also stops after a failed range. FIXED: tags are still served
from the cache. A malformed address is BadNodeIdUnknown and does not count as a link
failure. Test: a 10-tag stalled device beside a healthy one completes in under 3 call
timeouts with the healthy value Good. The P9 test now also asserts per-client read
counts and that two reads overlapped across devices.
Minors:
- 1: a superseded init releases its table only if it was never published (flag).
- 2: a fixed-tree refusal credits LastSuccessfulRead; a value-path refusal after a comms
fault restores Healthy.
- 5: alarm/fixed/refusal health is reset inside the publish lock, after the generation
check.
- 6: FocasFixedTreeHealthTests wait on served-failure/refusal counters, not wall-clock.
- 8: data-path health writes (reads, coalescer, writes, poll errors, refusals) carry the
generation they started under and are dropped once a lifecycle call has moved on. Each
write is a check-and-set under the lifecycle lock.
Also adds a unit case where 20 vendor records with type 0 and empty messages stay vendor.

Review 07 P7 (rest): adjacent words on one data file were never coalesced
(one round trip per tag) although the array path proves the transport can read
a span. Within a device pass, scalar tags on one N/B/F/L file within 8
elements of each other (block <= 200 data bytes, under the 236-byte typed-read
limit) now ride one multi-element read and are decoded from their offsets with
exactly the CLR types the single-tag path returns (int / float / bool).
Only shapes the single path decodes identically are coalesced: indirect,
sub-element, array, file-number-less (S:/I:/O:) and width-mismatched tags keep
the single path. A block the device refuses (an authored element past the end
of the file, a native PLC-5 non-N file) falls back to per-tag reads for its
members and its shape is remembered; a comms fault fails the members together.
New driver-config key coalesceReads (default true) with an AdminUI switch
(Razor change: AbLegacyDriverForm, for the Wave 4 live check). Adds an
env-gated ab_server parity case (coalesced == per-tag values).

The parameter was retained only for signature stability after the
EfAlarmConditionStateStore fallback that consumed it was retired. It is
removed from Props, the constructor and the positional Props.Create
forwarding list together, and from its one caller in
WithOtOpcUaRuntimeActors. No test passed it.

DriverHostActor now tells the mux SourceRemoved(driverInstanceId)
wherever a driver object ends: StopChild (deploy removal and the stop
half of a config-change respawn) and an operator Restart. It is not
sent on a supervision restart, which re-uses the same driver. Before
this nothing sent it, so a removed driver's last Good stayed in the
mux and replayed to the next replay-opting subscriber as current.
DriverHostActorSourceRemovedTests drives a real mux with two real
driver children: after a deploy drops DI-1 only DI-2's value replays
(positive control: both replay before the removal), and a supervision
restart of DI-1 leaves its value replayable.
Residual (documented on EvictRetainedValues): a burst the old child
enqueued just before it stopped can still be forwarded after the
eviction; the next publish, a comms-loss fan or the grace sweep
bounds it.

F10 follow-through: removing IDisposable outright broke a synchronous
drv.Dispose() call site outside this lane (Runtime.Tests
AbCipAlmaNativeAlarmEndToEndTests). The sync Dispose() is back, but it starts
the same teardown as DisposeAsync and returns instead of parking the caller on
DisposeAsync().AsTask().GetAwaiter().GetResult(); a background fault is
logged. The runtime still takes the IAsyncDisposable path (preferred, never
both).

Review 07 P7 (High): reads walked every reference of every device serially
with no backoff, so a dead device cost Timeout per tag per poll (50 tags x 2 s
= 100 s) and starved every healthy device long enough to trip the comms-loss
watchdog against a reachable one.
- ReadAsync buckets references by device and reads up to 8 devices
concurrently; each device's tags are still read in order.
- Each device has a ConnectionBackoff (1 s doubling to 30 s). Two consecutive
comms faults mark it down: the rest of that pass and every later pass fail
fast with BadCommunicationError and touch no wire until the window expires or
any answer (data path or probe) resets it. One timing-out tag does not
blacken its answering siblings.
- Cold connects are single-flight per device (ConnectGate), replacing the
per-key creation locks; a cached handle never touches the gate.
- A status/exception proving the device ANSWERED with a deterministic refusal
(not found, not allowed, out of bounds, type/size mismatch) is per-tag Bad,
keeps its handle, warns once per tag and advances LastSuccessfulRead instead
of evicting and degrading. Writes classify the same way.
- Health is written once per read: Degraded if any device faulted, Healthy if
anything read Good, LastSuccessfulRead advanced when any device answered.
Adds an env-gated ab_server case with a blackholed sibling device.

DriverHostActor now hands ScriptedAlarmHostActor an engine factory
instead of a pre-built engine, so every incarnation (a supervision
restart included) builds, owns and disposes its own upstream + engine.
The legacy overload was already restart-safe in the detach sense, so
this is hygiene rather than a live hole; the factory path is the one
ScriptedAlarmHostActorRestartTests covers end to end. The closure
captures locals only and carries the node-wide ScriptingOptions.

P11: AbCipUdtReadPlanner called AbCipUdtMemberLayout.TryBuild(parent.Members)
for every member reference on every poll - O(members^2) per parent per tick,
a dictionary allocation each time. GetOrBuild caches the layout (including a
"not groupable" verdict) in a ConditionalWeakTable keyed by the member list's
identity, which is immutable for the life of the tag table; a re-init's new
lists replace the entries and the old ones are collected with them.

ScriptContext.CancellationToken is backed by an AsyncLocal that
ScriptEvaluator.RunAsync scopes around the compiled delegate, so it is
exactly the token ScriptRunGuard cancels on timeout. A polling script
can now end its own abandoned run and free the slot. AsyncLocal rather
than a field because the scripted-alarm engine reuses one context per
alarm: an orphan keeps seeing its own cancelled token. The scoping
entry point is internal (IVT to Core.Scripting) so a script cannot
replace its own token.
Editor parity: ScriptAnalysisService dot-completion now walks the
receiver's base chain (instance members only, stopping before
System.Object). Before this, a member declared only on ScriptContext
compiled and published but never completed. DiagnoseTests pins the
member as allow-listed; CompletionTests pins the completion.

C1 (critical): B6 computes the plan off the pinned thread while B1 made writes
non-creating, so a value/status/alarm write for a node the in-flight plan adds
was skipped, and change-driven drivers never republish it (BadWaitingForInitialData
indefinitely; on a full rebuild every re-subscribe value landed on discarded
nodes). OpcUaPublishActor now applies writes immediately AND remembers the
latest per (realm, id) while a plan is in flight or queued (value+status
compose; alarm state/quality coalesce to the latest, which the node's delta
gate makes inert on an existing condition), replays it after each apply before
answering, and drops it once the pipeline is idle. Bounded (250k keys by
default; beyond it new keys are not held, logged once).
I2: the data-plane-authority parse runs in its own try inside the plan task; a
throw is logged and never degrades the address-space apply.
I3: the SDK's DeleteMonitoredItems releases an item's component-cache
reference on a Good delete; a tombstoned item's reference was already
released, so the delete took one from the re-created node's entry. Released
items are remembered and the orphan delete takes one back first. Event items
never held a reference (EventManager + SubscribeToEvents), so the three
event-item releases are gone.
I4: direct tests for the HistoryUpdate override's per-request updater check
and the HistoryReadEvents override's source guard (both reached by restoring
the bit after a reset - the B7 race window); fixed the false remark.
Minors: the MaterialiseAlarmCondition kind-swap tombstones the dropped
instance; a bytes-less rebuild arriving mid-plan queues behind it (replies in
order); a PlanReady/PlanFailed from a previous actor incarnation is ignored and
its requester answered degraded; the tie-cluster end bound of an uncapped read
fits against the backend ceiling (defence in depth - guarded by a sweep test);
the lock-time benchmark stays in the default run, headroom noted.

U10 (user decision: implement array encode now): config, the AdminUI and
discovery all advertised array tags Operate-writable, but both runtimes encoded
a scalar - an int[] threw InvalidCastException (BadTypeMismatch AND Degraded),
a scalar wrote element 0 natively, and libplctag re-sent its whole last-read
buffer with element 0 patched (stale elements 1..n-1).
- AbCipArrayCodec encodes count elements little-endian at the element width,
CONVERTING each element (ScadaBridge writes int[] to INT arrays; overflow is
BadOutOfRange, unconvertible BadTypeMismatch, both before anything is sent).
- The driver checks the shape before any runtime exists: not a list ->
BadTypeMismatch, length != elementCount -> BadOutOfRange, BOOL/STRING/
structure element types -> BadNotSupported; and, before sending, a controller
buffer that is not width x count -> BadTypeMismatch. Refusals warn once and
write no health.
- Native: ONE Write Tag of count elements with the controller's type code (the
client fragments a large one); libplctag: the codec's bytes copied into the
elem_count-sized buffer, refused TooSmall if it does not fit.
- IAbCipTagRuntime.EncodeArray (default: NotSupportedException).
Real-controller proof is a hardware userGate (see the lane report recipe).

U11: a scalar BOOL authored over Bits[n] requested element n and decoded
"any of bits 0-7 of the reply set", so Bits[n] read Good with the subscript
ignored. A Logix BOOL array is stored as DWORDs (0xD3) and its element segment
addresses them, so the native runtime now requests DWORD n / 32 and decodes bit
n % 32 when the controller answers 0xD3 (a plain BOOL reply still decodes its
byte). libplctag exposes no type code and so cannot say which DWORD it read: a
4-byte reply for such a tag is refused BadNotSupported (warned once) instead of
publishing a wrong value as Good. Real-controller proof is a hardware gate.

Applies the driver-lane health contract to the value path. Every non-Good read status used
to write Degraded on every poll, so one vacant macro (BadNoData), one EW_NUMBER address
(BadOutOfRange) or one fractional macro on an integer tag made a reachable CNC look sick
forever. Now:
- a comms-class status (BadCommunicationError / BadInternalError (EW_HANDLE) / BadTimeout)
still degrades, with LastSuccessfulRead preserved;
- any other non-Good status is a refusal: the tag reads Bad, one Warning is logged per tag
(re-armed when it next reads Good, cleared at init), driver state is untouched, and
LastSuccessfulRead advances because the CNC answered (CAS, since devices now read
concurrently);
- a write refused with NotSupportedException no longer degrades the driver.
