Review r0 of Integration-W3:
- I1: the effective FC16 cap is min(configured maxRegistersPerWrite, 123). The
driver trusts a larger configured cap and sends an over-ceiling FC16 (past 127
registers its byte-count byte wraps), which every conformant device refuses, so
such an array is never advertised writable.
- I2: a BitInRegister[] write reads its span first in one unchunked FC03, so it is
also bounded by min(configured maxRegistersPerRead, 125) (absent/0 = 125).
- m2: every span (registers and coils) must end at or before address 65535.
- m1: the String-node wording says it converts only when the text parses, which
the server cannot promise (DateTime never converts).
- m4: the parity device now enforces FC01/02 2000, FC03/04 125 (or a smaller
device read limit), FC15 1968, FC16 123, FC23 121/125, the FC15/FC16 byte-count
field (exception 03) and the address-space end (exception 02).
Tests: parity rows for each ceiling/cap/span boundary against the real write
path, and Core.Abstractions row tests. The configured-cap test that asserted a
cap of 200 lifts the ceiling now asserts the opposite.

The Modbus lane (#741 U3) gave the driver String[] and BitInRegister[] holding-register array encoders, and
moved address resolution to ModbusTagAddressResolution (keys first, a bit region coerced to Bool, strict key
reads), but DriverArrayWriteSupport still listed both array shapes read-only (follow-up F1), so a client
write was BadNotWritable before it reached the driver.
Modbus row now mirrors the driver end to end:
- Keys shape only (region + address both present). A string-only addressString tag is resolved by the
driver with its own family through a parser Core.Abstractions cannot reference, so it stays read-only
(pinned: the conservative direction).
- Strict reads as the resolver: address an integer 0-65535; a present region / dataType / byteOrder /
stringByteOrder string must name a member.
- Coils: any dataType (coerced to Bool), <= 1968 coils (FC15).
- HoldingRegisters (FC16, never Bool): numeric, String ((stringLength+1)/2 registers, stringLength >= 1),
BitInRegister (1 register, bitIndex 0-15, span ending <= 65535), all within maxRegistersPerWrite.
FC23 is opt-in and never changes the answer.
- Elements convert (ScadaBridge int[] -> Int16 stays writable); only a String / DateTime node over a
numeric or bit element is left out, since such an element never converts.
Tests: the parity test's PendingF1 exemption and its guard are gone; the parity matrix is now region x
element type x node type against the real WriteAsync with a spec-conformant device (FC15 > 1968 refused),
plus shape edges at every cap boundary (numeric, String, BitInRegister, coil), strict key reads, FC23
on/off, string-only, the ScadaBridge int[] shape and U3 wire bytes. Core.Abstractions row tests and a
composer test (String[] and BitInRegister[] writable; over-cap, no-stringLength and string-only read-only).

The Wave-2 lanes gave AbCip, AbLegacy and TwinCAT real whole-array write
encoders (review 07 U10/U9), but the capability table still listed all three
as scalar-only, so every array node materialised read-only and a client write
was BadNotWritable before it reached the driver.
Rows added, each listing only what WriteAsync encodes end to end:
- AbCip: SInt/USInt/Int/UInt/DInt/UDInt/Real/Dt/LInt/ULInt/LReal, declared
length, not a safetyTag. BOOL/STRING/Structure arrays stay read-only.
- AbLegacy: Int/AnalogInt on N/B/A, Long on L, Float on F (file-width match),
plain <file><n>:<word> address, <= 256 elements; not /bit, .sub, indirect,
S:/I:/O:, nor native PLC-5.
- TwinCAT: every codec element type, declared length; not a BOOL bit-in-word
path.
Elements convert in all three encoders, so the rows never key on an exact
node DataType (ScadaBridge int[] -> Int16 stays writable); they leave out
only node types whose elements never convert (DateTime/String over numeric,
Boolean on AbLegacy, STRING under DateTime on TwinCAT: culture-dependent).
Tests: driver-level parity for each driver (every element type x node type
plus shape cases, against the real write path), the AbLegacy parity tests
un-skipped, Core.Abstractions row tests, a composer test (three drivers
writable, refused shapes read-only), and the existing AbCip negative cases
moved to a BOOL array. Docs: Uns.md table, per-driver docs, data-plane rules.

MAJOR-1: R4's exact element-type match refused ScadaBridge's CLR-list
writes (its element types are only Boolean/Int32/Float/Double/String/
DateTime) to every Int16/UInt16/Byte/UInt32/Int64/UInt64 array node and a
Double list to a Float array. EvaluateEquipmentWriteStructure now converts
a numeric array of another numeric element type element-wise, CHECKED, into
the node's element type and hands the converted array back through
OnEquipmentTagWrite's ref value, so the node stores and the driver receives
the node's own type. Any out-of-range, fractional-to-integer, NaN/Inf-to-
integer or Float-overflowing element refuses the whole write BadTypeMismatch
(nothing dispatched) - so the UInt32 -> Int32 bit reinterpretation stays
closed. Non-numeric mismatches stay refused. The wrong 'no client relies on
a looser rule' comment is corrected.
MINOR-1: the array-value-to-scalar-node refusal broke writes back to
browse-committed array tags (committed scalar, isArray never set) on
pass-through drivers. It now applies only when the owning driver's scalar
encoder cannot take an array (DriverArrayWriteSupport.
RefusesArrayValueOnScalarTag: Modbus, S7), carried RawTagPlan.
ScalarRefusesArrayValue / UnsReferenceVariable.BackingScalarRefusesArrayValue
-> EnsureVariable(refuseArrayOnScalar) -> a per-node set in the node
manager. OpcUaClient/Galaxy/others keep pre-#610 dispatch. Not on the
classifier whitelist (driver-type edit rebuilds); a mirror whose flag
changes is recreated, not updated in place.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
MAJOR-1: the SDK skips TypeInfo.IsInstanceOfDataType on any node with an
OnWriteValue handler (every writable equipment node), and the node manager's
fail-fast treated numeric<->numeric as compatible, so a UInt32[] to a Galaxy
Int32 array matched MxValueEncoder's int[] arm by CLR covariance and was
written bit-reinterpreted with a Good result. EvaluateEquipmentWriteStructure
now matches an ARRAY write's element type exactly (Byte[]/ByteString the only
equivalence; Variant[]/object[] refused) -> BadTypeMismatch, nothing
dispatched. MxValueEncoder's int[]/long[] arms are exact-type guarded too, and
the Galaxy parity test's false "the SDK refuses" premise is corrected (the
UInt32/UInt64 exclusion is now the encoder's own answer). Scalar writes keep
numeric widening by decision: consumers write CLR-typed values (Double to a
Float node) and every driver's scalar encoder range-checks.
MINOR: Modbus row honours maxRegistersPerWrite (smallest of DriverConfig /
the tag's DeviceConfig, default 123) and FC15's 1968-coil ceiling, and
requires region + numeric address; Modbus/S7/Galaxy require isArray + integer
arrayLength >= 1 (Galaxy: an unbounded node would let a short write resize the
attribute); an array value to a scalar node is refused inline. Docs: Uns.md
array-write rules + upgrade note (ReadWrite array tags become client-writable
on first boot), Modbus.md, Galaxy.md.
Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ef2ozxS7QPanGT8uoATbTe
Array nodes were forced read-only for every driver. A new single authority,
Core.Abstractions DriverArrayWriteSupport, says which (driver, element type)
pairs encode a whole-array write: Modbus (Coils / numeric HoldingRegisters),
S7 (Byte/Int16/UInt16/Int32/UInt32/Float32), OpcUaClient (pass-through) and
Galaxy (Boolean/Int32/Int64/Float/Double/String/DateTime). Everything else
stays read-only, so the server never advertises a write the driver refuses.
- Composer derives RawTagPlan.ArrayWritable + UnsReferenceVariable
.BackingArrayWritable at compose time (both seams, byte-parity); the
applier's one writability rule is Writable && (!IsArray || ArrayWritable)
for materialise and surgical paths, raw and UNS alike.
- ArrayWritable is on the classifier's surgical raw-tag whitelist and
mirrored on the UNS record (UnsReferenceBackingParityTests updated).
- Node manager refuses a wrong-length / non-array value on an array node
(BadTypeMismatch) and any IndexRange write (BadWriteNotSupported) inline,
before dispatch; WriteOperate/ACL gates and the revert are unchanged.
- Per-driver parity tests pin the table against the real Modbus write path,
S7 EncodeArrayBlock and Galaxy MxValueEncoder (UInt32/UInt64 excluded:
array covariance reinterprets their bits).
- Over-the-wire proof in OpcUaServer.IntegrationTests (ArrayWriteWireTests).
- ValueRank > 1 documented as out of scope by decision (docs/Uns.md).

Removes the 'use UseNativeNotifications=false for arrays' workaround and
documents the raw-bytes array model shared by poll and notification: element
checks, STRING arrays, multi-dim flattening, 0-based publication, leading
sub-range for a shorter arrayLength, refusals (struct/UDT arrays, too long,
scalar over array), the 128 KiB native cap (BadOutOfRange), the bit-path fix,
and the 2026-10-07 read-only live gate on Z33856 / Z33733.
CLAUDE.md — a new "How a deploy reaches that address space" block under the v3
Batch 4 address-space section. The blanket ChangedRawTags/ChangedUnsReferenceVariables
=> Rebuild rule is gone, so the doc now names both halves explicitly: what still
rebuilds (alarm-bearing raw-tag deltas, raw-tag identity changes, raw container
renames/removals, changed equipment/alarms) and what is now surgical (non-alarm
attribute deltas, every UnsReferenceDelta). Also records the three semantics that
are easy to break by accident: mirror repair rides UnsReferenceVariable's inherited
backing fields (omitting a newly-inherited field silently reopens the staleness),
a degraded non-rebuild apply deliberately does not advance _lastApplied, and the
raw-realm announce gap is no longer neutral now that surgical adds keep
subscriptions alive.
CLAUDE.md ConfigSource — the RevisionHash == SHA-256(artifact bytes) paragraph is
still true and stays; it gains the clause that the blob is gzip-compressed since
2026-08-15 and the hash covers the COMPRESSED bytes, which is precisely why the
fetcher, cache and serve path were untouched.
docs/Uns.md + docs/Raw.md — one section each on what a deploy now tears down, from
the authoring surface's point of view, including the mirror repair semantics
(identity-preserving backing edits update in place and keep their MonitoredItems;
re-points and effective-name edits remove+recreate that one node).
docs/Configuration.md — "Artifact compression (2026-08-15)" under ConfigSource/
ConfigServe: gzip inside the hashed bytes, magic-sniffed on read, pre-upgrade
uncompressed rows still parse, plus the two operational facts an operator needs.
The first deploy after upgrade re-hashes every revision (same config, new bytes,
new RevisionHash) so it is a one-time full re-dispatch rather than a no-op; and
rollout is ordered — nodes must run artifact-sniffing code BEFORE central starts
emitting compressed blobs, since a pre-upgrade node handed a gzip artifact fails
the apply and keeps last-known-good until it is upgraded.
Plan doc — a "Follow-ups (recorded, not implemented)" section covering the seven
items surfaced during implementation and review: the raw-realm announce gap, the
RemoveEquipmentSubtree dangling-inverse-edge exposure, the missing end-to-end test
for a degraded remove-bearing apply's ratcheted rebuild, the scripted-alarm
thin-plan-ids-against-rich-rows blindness, the absent monotonic dispatch sequence,
LocalDb store ordering under concurrent StoreAsync, and threading the in-hand blob
through RestoreApplied.
tasks.json — all nine tasks completed.
Docs only; no source changes.
An area or line could be named "Packaging" or "Line 1", save cleanly, and then
fail the NEXT deployment with UnsSegmentInvalid. Because a deployment snapshots
the whole database, one badly-named area blocked EVERY cluster's deploy - and
whoever hit that was usually not whoever typed the name. Only the equipment form
carried the rule; the deploy gate held its own private copy.
The rule now lives once, on Configuration.Validation.UnsSegment, and both ends
call it. DraftValidator no longer restates it.
Enforced in UnsTreeService, not just on the forms:
- Create/Update Area, Line and Equipment reject an invalid name before touching
the row.
- The CSV import reports a bad name as an ERROR, not a skip - a skip means "you
already have this row", which would tell the operator the equipment exists
when it does not. Good rows in the same batch still insert.
A form attribute could never have covered the import, and with no bUnit in this
repo a rule only a form enforces is also a rule no test can reach. The forms
keep an attribute for the immediate message, but it now references the shared
pattern rather than restating it - a second copy is how these drifted apart.
One behaviour change beyond the fix: UnsSegment.AttributePattern admits
"_default", which the equipment form's hand-written literal rejected. The form
was stricter than the gate it was mirroring, so a _default row was uneditable
through the AdminUI.
Tests: 41, falsified with three production mutations - dropping the CreateArea
guard reds exactly the CreateArea rejections, turning the import error back into
a skip reds only the import test, and narrowing AttributePattern reds only the
attribute/IsValid agreement. Every rejection is paired with a name that must
still be accepted, or a guard that refused everything would pass.
Live-verified on docker-dev: the area modal now refuses "Packaging" in place
with the rule spelled out, "packaging-b" saves, and a CSV import of two rows
reports Inserted 1 / Skipped 0 / Errors 1 naming the offending row - the path no
form attribute reaches. Rig cleaned up and a further deployment sealed.

HistorianGateway is now the sole historian backend (read + alarm SendEvent +
continuous WriteLiveValues). Document the final state and retire the Wonderware
sidecar from the docs/config/labels:
- CLAUDE.md: rewrite the Historian section — ServerHistorian /
ContinuousHistorization / AlarmHistorian config keys, the IHistorianProvisioning
EnsureTags hook, the GatewayAlarmHistorianWriter SendEvent path + ReadEvents
dependency on gateway RuntimeDb:EventReadsEnabled=true, gateway-side
prerequisites (RuntimeDb flags + historian:read/write/tags:write scopes),
migration note, and two KNOWN-LIMITATION callouts (live-validation gate +
empty historized-ref-set recorder follow-on).
- appsettings.json: fix the stale ServerHistorian block (Host/Port/SharedSecret/
ServerCertThumbprint -> Endpoint/ApiKey/UseTls/AllowUntrustedServerCertificate/
CaCertificatePath/CallTimeout, keep MaxTieClusterOverfetch); add a disabled
ContinuousHistorization block; prune the orphaned Wonderware keys from
AlarmHistorian (keep the SQLite knobs). ApiKey env-supplied via
ServerHistorian__ApiKey (commented; valid strict JSON via _comment keys).
- README.md + docs (Historian.md, AlarmHistorian.md, Configuration.md,
ServiceHosting.md, DriverLifecycle.md, drivers/README.md, Uns.md, VirtualTags.md,
AlarmTracking.md, Client.UI.md, README.md, TestConnectProbes.md): retire the
Wonderware historian backend from current-backend descriptions; fix the stale
ServerHistorian/AlarmHistorian config tables (now gateway shape); convert
drivers/Historian.Wonderware.md to a retired stub pointing at the gateway.
- Source/UI labels (descriptive text only, no behavior change):
OtOpcUaServerHostedService.cs, HistoryPaging.cs, OtOpcUaSdkServer.cs,
HistorianAdapterActor.cs, VirtualTagModal.razor, ScriptedAlarmModal.razor,
AlarmsHistorian.razor now name the HistorianGateway backend.
Build clean (0 errors); AdminUI.Tests green (514 passed).

Update Uns.md to show Equipment as a leaf in the browse tree (Area → Line →
Equipment), add the /uns/equipment/{id} page with its Details/Tags/Virtual
Tags/Alarms tabs, and adjust the actions table and sub-sections accordingly.
ScriptedAlarms.md and AlarmTracking.md required no changes — neither
referenced the standalone /scripted-alarms editing page.
- New docs/Uns.md: the global UNS tree (Enterprise/Site read-only groupings,
editable Area→Line→Equipment→Tag/VirtualTag), navigating/filter, the
create/edit/delete modals, served-by cluster = UnsArea.ClusterId, tags are
equipment-bound while Galaxy/SystemPlatform folder-path tags stay on the
driver page, CSV import, and "changes apply on next Deploy".
- README.md: index row under Operational.
- CLAUDE.md: Testing section now points at /uns + docs/Uns.md.
