`Security:Acl:Enabled` (default false) makes scoped `NodeAcl` grants decide
data-plane authorization at the three seams that have one, and gives HistoryRead
a check it never had. Read, Browse and Subscribe stay ungated — stage 6.
The ACL decision REPLACES the server-wide role check rather than chaining with
it. Chained, a grant would have to confer the role as well as pass the scope
check, and only Cluster-scoped grants confer a role — so every narrow grant
would have stayed inert and the flag would have looked inert too. The
load-bearing test is an ALLOW: a session carrying no roles at all writing
successfully on the strength of its grant. A deny-only test passes against a
build where the ACL is never consulted, because the role gate denies too.
Found en route: the principal never reached the session. The authenticator
passed it as OpcUaUserAuthResult.DisplayName, but RoleCarryingUserIdentity
derives DisplayName from the presented token — for a key-bearing client that is
the static username `apikey`, identical fleet-wide. So the trie's matching key
was dropped at the identity boundary, and the audit ClientUserId on a rejected
write recorded `apikey` for every consuming system. Principal and ApiKeyId are
now carried explicitly.
Beyond the stage as sketched:
- Revocation reaches an OPEN session. Every decision re-checks the
authenticating key against the current snapshot; without it a key revoked by a
deployment kept its authority until the client chose to reconnect, which for a
machine-to-machine consumer can be indefinitely.
- UserAuthorizationState is built per CALL, not per session. The per-session
shape exists so an LDAP session can re-resolve membership that changed out of
band; nothing can change out of band under API keys, so the generation stamp is
the whole invalidation signal and a per-call record picks it up for free.
IsStale/NeedsRefresh therefore cannot fire here and are documented as vestigial.
- The trie is built inside DataPlaneAuthorityState.Apply, under the same
generation as the snapshot, rather than by a second wiring at the publish
actor. An uninstalled trie denies everything — indistinguishable from working
enforcement. Deleting the install turns 13 of the 22 new tests red.
- The deploy log reports what the BUILD dropped instead of re-deriving it. The
old count agreed with the builder on one of its four drop reasons; a rule with
a blank ScopeId, a retired scope kind, or a path not starting at a realm
vanished with the log reading zero.
Both IApiKeyStore implementations widened to the full grant set. The narrowing
was redundant — ApiKeyInterimRoleMapper applies the same filter itself — and
became a trap once scope was enforced. Pinned by asserting the roles are
unchanged, with the two grants carrying different flags so it cannot pass by
accident.
Falsified by mutation: enforcement never engaging, the write seam ignoring the
ACL, the realm dropped from the scope, the revocation check removed, and the
trie never installed each turn the intended tests red and no others.
Full solution suite green.

Makes the /raw device tree addressable by an ACL rule, and builds the
scope-path producer PermissionTrieBuilder has accepted since it was written
but which had no caller anywhere.
The plan for this stage said "add NodeHierarchyKind.Raw, whose path is the
RawPath segments Folder/Driver/Device/TagGroup/Tag". That shape is wrong.
RawFolder.ParentRawFolderId and TagGroup.ParentTagGroupId are both
self-referencing, so folders and tag groups each nest without bound and a real
RawPath is folder…/Driver/Device/group…/Tag. NodeScope was fixed-arity and
PermissionTrie.CollectMatches was five hardcoded steps, so the scope model
could not address a real raw tree at all. NodeScope is now {ClusterId, Kind,
Segments} and the walk is a segment loop. The trie STRUCTURE was already
variable-depth (NodeAclPath.Segments is a list, Children is a recursive
dictionary), so only the walker and the scope record had to change.
Four decisions worth keeping:
- The namespace level became the realm. Level 1 gated on NodeScope.NamespaceId,
but v3 has no Namespace entity — the snapshot was retired when the address
space went dual-namespace, and the identifier appears nowhere in production
outside NodeScope. So the level could only ever fail to match, which silently
made every sub-cluster grant unreachable while cluster grants kept working.
It is now a realm token derived from the scope's Kind, not carried on it, so
the walk and the producer cannot disagree about its spelling.
- Provenance comes from the granting row's own ScopeKind, recorded on TrieGrant
at build time. Depth-derived provenance could not name a raw level at all,
since the depth of "Device" varies with folder nesting.
- The trie comparer moved from OrdinalIgnoreCase to Ordinal. Raw sibling-name
uniqueness is ordinal, so Speed and speed can both exist under one device and
a grant on either would have matched both.
- The null-scopePaths "deterministic test mode" is deleted. It planted
unresolvable rows at a direct child of the trie root, a position the walker
cannot reach, so the grant looked placed and could never match — and every
test using that mode proved nothing about production placement. scopePaths is
now required, and a row that does not resolve is dropped with a diagnostic.
A scope resolves to a LIST of paths: a raw tag projected into N equipments is
reachable at N+1 NodeIds and a write through any of them lands on the same
driver reference, so a Tag-scoped grant covering only the raw node would be
bypassable through a UNS one. The lookup is keyed on (ScopeKind, ScopeId), not
ScopeId alone — ScopeId has no FK and no type discriminator, so an id collision
across entity types would hand a grant the wrong node's paths.
Also closed here, all found by review rather than asked for:
- NodeAcl rows had no deploy-time validation of any kind and were not reachable
from DraftValidator at all (DraftSnapshot carried no NodeAcls). They are now
gated for dangling ids, cross-cluster scopes, blank/contradictory ScopeId, the
retired FolderSegment kind, and undefined ordinals.
- ConfigDbApiKeyStore conferred roles from Cluster-scoped grants authored in ANY
cluster, because it filtered on scope kind with no ClusterId predicate while
ArtifactApiKeyStore read an already-cluster-filtered snapshot. On a fused
admin+driver node that was a cross-cluster over-grant. Its doc comment claimed
the two stores matched.
- The two AdminUI ACL banners still said enforcement was LDAP-group -> role
mapping, which stages 1/2 made false in both directions.
- The /apikeys page was never classified in PageAuthorizationGuardTests, so that
test has been red since the key-minting commit merged — I did not run
AdminUI.Tests before merging stage 4.
Falsified rather than assumed: 8 mutations against the trie tests, 5 against the
deploy gate (including one proving a cross-cluster row is not silently
mis-diagnosed as unresolved), a staged red->green for the over-grant regression,
and the realm gate, the comparer and the malformed-path guard each broken
individually to confirm only their own tests go red.
Node ACLs are still not ENFORCED — nothing constructs a NodeScope or calls the
evaluator yet. That is stages 5 and 6; this stage makes the model able to
express what those will enforce.

A driver-only node has had no ConfigDb since per-cluster mesh Phase 4, so it
registered NullOpcUaUserAuthenticator and denied every UserName token. Its keys
now ride the deployment artifact instead.
- ConfigComposer snapshots ApiKeys alongside the NodeAcls it already carried.
Only the peppered HMAC ships, never a secret, and the pepper is node config
that is deliberately not in the artifact.
- DeploymentArtifact.ParseDataPlaneAuthority decodes both node-side. Grants are
scoped to the node's own cluster; keys are not, because ApiKey carries no
ClusterId — a key is a fleet-wide credential and the ACL rows are what bind it.
- OpcUaPublishActor installs them on DataPlaneAuthorityState on every apply,
BEFORE its plan.IsEmpty early-return: an artifact that only revokes a key
produces an empty address-space plan, so feeding after that return would leave
the revoked key working until an unrelated structural change redeployed.
- ArtifactApiKeyStore serves them to session activation; a node with a ConfigDb
keeps ConfigDbApiKeyStore, whose per-request read is what makes revocation
immediate there.
- OtOpcUaNodeManager gains DataPlaneAuthority — the cluster identity blocker #4
named. NodeScope.ClusterId is required and the evaluator fails closed on a
mismatch, so until now no scope it built could have evaluated. Nothing reads it
until stages 5/6.
The generation is a node-local COUNTER driven by the RevisionHash, not derived
from its bits. PermissionTrieCache treats the highest GenerationId as current, so
a generation taken from hash bytes would install a lower number about half the
time and the cache would go on serving the previous deployment's ACLs, silently.
Sessions are not stamped with it yet — that belongs with the first seam that
reads a UserAuthorizationState, in stage 5, rather than being built now and
consulted by nothing.
Live-gated on docker-dev against site-a-1 (driver-only, no ConfigDb): key
authenticates, wrong secret denied, both halves of the revocation asymmetry
observed, and a SITE-A grant confirmed not to reach site-b-1. Key minted with an
independent Python HMAC so the verifier was checked against something other than
itself. Rig left clean.

#519 — a driver's OPC UA status code now reaches a client with its sub-code intact.
DriverInstanceActor projected the driver's uint onto a 3-state Good/Uncertain/Bad enum
and OtOpcUaNodeManager re-expanded Bad to a bare 0x80000000, so BadNoCommunication,
BadTypeMismatch and BadNotSupported were indistinguishable on the wire and every
driver's status constants (incl. the 16 #497 had just corrected) were diagnostic in
logs only. Resolved by option (b): the raw uint rides AttributeValuePublished ->
AttributeValueUpdate -> IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink.WriteValue, OpcUaQuality is deleted, and
severity classification is a helper (OpcUaStatus.IsGood/IsUncertain/IsBad).
The surface was wider than the issue costed (41 files, not "the sink and 3
implementations"): OpcUaQuality had non-driver producers with no uint to carry.
Each got its natural code — BadInternalError for a failed virtual-tag script,
BadNoCommunication for driver comms loss — and ScriptedAlarmHostActor's pair of
mutually-inverse uint<->enum mappers is deleted, having round-tripped a code the
engine already held. AddressSpaceApplier's removal writes deliberately keep the
generic Bad: not losing a code the driver had is this issue; inventing one for the
deploy path is a separate call.
Behaviour change: WriteAlarmQuality fires its Part 9 event on a status-code change
rather than a severity-bucket change. While the annotation was 3-state those were the
same predicate; now a move between two Bad reasons changes what a subscriber reads.
New SDK-free named constants live on Commons.OpcUa.OpcUaStatus, and
StatusCodeParityTests is widened to cover them — that guard is reflection-driven, so
it can only see a named constant, never an inline literal.
#517 — the symptom is real but the issue named the wrong path and its fix was unsafe.
ShutdownAsync cannot race: DriverInstanceActor calls it from PostStop, after the
mailbox drains. (Core/Hosting/DriverHost, the one class with a concurrent GetHealth,
has no production call site.) InitializeAsync can: it runs on a fire-and-forget
Task.Run, and MTConnectDriver writes Healthy then starts loops that can throw into a
catch which disposes the client before writing Faulted.
Moving the write earlier, as suggested, inverts the terminal state — teardown drains
in-flight loops that write health as they unwind, so a late loop could leave Healthy at
rest with every connection closed. The fix is a bracket (conservative before, terminal
after), applied to MTConnect's init-failure path only; shutdown keeps its single
trailing write, and the rule plus the reachability table are documented on
IDriver.ShutdownAsync.
CalculationDriver.GetHealth returned a hard-coded Healthy that consulted nothing —
Healthy before initialize, after shutdown and after dispose. Now derived from _running.
Its test, named Health_is_always_Connected, asserted the defect and is replaced.
Every new guard was falsified by breaking the production code and watching it go red.
The two sub-code tests each assert two different Bad codes, since a single-code
assertion could pass against a hard-coded constant under the old projection.
Pre-existing failures, verified unchanged on a stashed tree and not chased: 4 in
Driver.AbLegacy.IntegrationTests (slc500/micrologix/plc5 fixtures not up) and 3 in
Host.IntegrationTests.

#507 was filed as "injection inert in v3, re-migrate onto the raw subtree".
Reading it, the retained code is not revivable: it resolves equipment from
EquipmentNode.DriverInstanceId UNION EquipmentTags, and BOTH are structurally
empty in v3 (AddressSpaceComposer always constructs EquipmentNode with a null
DriverInstanceId; DeploymentArtifact hard-codes an empty EquipmentTags set).
Removing the guard would have changed a log line and injected nothing. So it
is deleted rather than fixed, and #507 closes as superseded by /raw
browse-commit.
Removed: HandleDiscoveredNodes, PartitionDiscoveredByDeviceHost,
ShouldWarnPartition, PlansRoutingEqual, ApplyDiscoveredPlansForDriver,
_discoveredByDriver, the redeploy re-inject tail, DiscoveredNodeMapper,
DiscoveredInjection, AddressSpaceApplier.MaterialiseDiscoveredNodes,
OpcUaPublishActor.MaterialiseDiscoveredNodes, and the Runtime-local copies of
CapturingAddressSpaceBuilder/DiscoveredNode.
The connect-time discovery loop goes too (StartDiscovery, RediscoverTick,
HandleRediscoverAsync, DiscoveredNodesReady, TriggerRediscovery). With
injection gone it had no consumer, and leaving it would either dead-letter or
keep browsing real devices up to ~15x per connect to drop the result.
ITagDiscovery itself stays — the /raw browse picker drives it through
Commons/Browsing/DiscoveryDriverBrowser, which never went through the actor,
so the picker is unaffected.
deferment.md §4.4 called the 18 DiscoveryInjectionDormantV3 tests "Real —
blocked on #507". They are not: they assert an equipment-rooted graft
(EquipmentRootNodeId == "EQ-1") that v3 cannot produce, so they could never
have unskipped as written. Deleted along with DiscoveredNodeMapperTests, the
CapturingAddressSpaceBuilder tests, and the MaterialiseDiscoveredNodes tests
in AddressSpaceApplierTests/OpcUaPublishActorTests. Runtime.Tests skipped:
31 -> 13.
IHostConnectivityProbe is deliberately NOT resolved here. GetHostStatuses()
has no production call site and nothing writes a DriverHostStatus row, but the
table was re-created in the v3 initial migration, so deleting on inference
would be wrong. Split to Gitea #521 with both options costed.
CLAUDE.md, docs/drivers/{Galaxy,TwinCAT,MTConnect}.md updated — they described
the seam as dead.
Build clean; Runtime.Tests 476 passed / 13 skipped; OpcUaServer.Tests 362
passed / 4 skipped.
A driver-only node has a null dbFactory but a wired applier; the old combined
guard routed it to the raw-sink fallback that wipes the address space and never
re-materialises. Split the guard so in-hand artifact bytes drive the real
diff-and-apply; a missing artifact abandons the rebuild (keep last-known-good,
#485) instead of wiping.

RedundancyStateActor derived the driver Primary from ClusterState.RoleLeader("driver").
Akka offers two different notions of a "first" member and they are not the same
one: role leader is the lowest-ADDRESSED Up member (host, then port), while
ClusterSingletonManager places singletons on the OLDEST — lowest up-number.
They agree on a freshly-formed cluster, which is why every existing test passed.
They diverge after any restart: the restarted node re-joins as the youngest while
keeping its address, so if it holds the lower address it becomes role leader while
the singletons stay put. The snapshot would then name a Primary that is not
hosting the work, and every Primary-gated surface follows it — inbound device
writes, native-alarm acks, the fleet-wide alerts emit, and the alarm-history
drain would all enable on the wrong node while the node actually running the
singletons stayed gated off.
BuildSnapshot now selects the oldest Up member carrying the driver role, matching
singleton placement. Leaving members are excluded: a node handing its singletons
over must not be named Primary.
NodeRedundancyState.IsRoleLeaderForDriver is renamed IsDriverPrimary, and
NodeHealthInputs.IsDriverRoleLeader likewise. Keeping the old names would have
left the wire contract asserting a derivation the code no longer uses — the same
drift that made this defect invisible.
Proven by a real two-node cluster rather than a mock. RedundancyPrimaryElectionTests
binds the first-joining node to the HIGHER port, so oldest and lowest-address name
different nodes, and includes a fixture assertion that the divergence actually
occurred — without it the real assertion could pass for the wrong reason. Positive
control: restoring the RoleLeader derivation turns exactly the two election tests
red while the fixture check stays green.
Runtime.Tests 440 passed, ControlPlane.Tests 82, Cluster.Tests 36.

A transient ConfigDb error while loading a deployment's artifact emptied the
served address space. LoadArtifact caught the exception, logged "rebuild
becomes no-op" and returned zero bytes; those parsed to an EMPTY composition,
which the planner diffed against the live one as a PureRemove and the applier
faithfully executed — 16 nodes gone, while the log claimed nothing happened.
An artifact we could not obtain is not an empty configuration. Nothing
legitimate produces a zero-length blob (an operator who really deletes
everything still deploys a JSON document with empty arrays), so "no bytes" can
only mean "no answer". HandleRebuild now abandons the rebuild on one, leaving
both the materialised nodes and _lastApplied intact so the retry diffs against
what is actually being served. The loader's own log line is now true.
The two cases are logged differently: warn when there is a live address space
being protected, debug when nothing has been deployed to this node yet.
Covered by a RED-first actor test (verified failing: the load error tore down
eq-2's subtree), plus a positive control proving a READABLE artifact that
genuinely drops an equipment still removes it — the guard suppresses teardown
only when the read failed.
Found on the LocalDb Phase 1 follow-up live gate, which induced it by flapping
SQL; that gate's log is the production evidence for the seam.

Boot-from-cache told OpcUaPublishActor to RebuildAddressSpace(deploymentId), which
re-loads the artifact from the ConfigDb by id — the very database that is
unreachable during the outage this path exists to survive. The rebuild no-op'd, so
a cache-booted node ran its drivers but served OPC UA clients an EMPTY address
space. RebuildAddressSpace now carries an optional in-hand Artifact blob;
ApplyCachedArtifact passes the cached bytes so materialisation happens from them
directly. Found on the docker-dev live gate: healthy peer served 16 nodes, the
cache-booted node served 1.
Part 9 ConditionType.Quality was never assigned; default(StatusCode)==Good
so every native + scripted condition reported Good unconditionally — a
comms-lost device still showed a healthy, inactive, Good condition (a
wrong-VALUE bug, distinct from the null-value #473/#475). Clients (and HMIs
bucketing on IsGood) could not tell "genuinely inactive" from "lost contact".
Layer 1 — make Quality a real, plumbed field:
- AlarmConditionSnapshot gains OpcUaQuality Quality (default Good).
- MaterialiseAlarmCondition sets it (native BadWaitingForInitialData, scripted Good).
- WriteAlarmCondition projects snapshot.Quality; the delta-gate gains a Quality
member so a quality-bucket change fires a Part 9 event.
Layer 2 — drive native quality from driver connectivity (a comms-lost driver
emits no alarm transitions, and an alarm-bearing raw tag has no value variable,
so quality can't come from either existing channel):
- DriverInstanceActor Tells parent ConnectivityChanged on Connected/Reconnecting.
- DriverHostActor fans it to every native condition the driver owns as
OpcUaPublishActor.AlarmQualityUpdate (Good on connect, Bad on disconnect).
- New dedicated IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink.WriteAlarmQuality sets ONLY Quality and
fires only on a bucket change — never touches Active/Acked/Retain (an active
alarm that loses comms stays active). Not a full-snapshot re-projection, so it
can't clobber severity/message and works for a never-fired condition.
Forwarded through DeferredAddressSpaceSink (F10b trap; auto-verified by the
reflection forwarding guard). Ungated by redundancy role; no /alerts row.
Scripted conditions stay Good; worst-of-input quality deferred to #478 (Layer 3).
Tests: node-level (materialise/project/no-clobber/unknown-node no-op),
NativeAlarmProjector, DriverInstanceActor connectivity emission, DriverHostActor
fan-out, OpcUaPublishActor routing, and the wire-level guard
(Condition_event_Quality_tracks_source_connectivity_on_the_wire) — RED-verified
against a simulated pre-fix always-Good server. Existing DriverInstanceActor
parent probes ignore the new ConnectivityChanged.

H1 (HIGH): write-routing key now (AddressSpaceRealm, bareId), not bare-only.
A raw s=<RawPath> and a UNS s=<Area/Line/Equip/Eff> can collide as bare
strings; the bare-only key let a colliding raw+UNS pair route to the WRONG
driver ref (last-writer-wins). The realm the node manager resolves (RealmOf)
is now threaded through IOpcUaNodeWriteGateway.WriteAsync -> RouteNodeWrite ->
_driverRefByNodeId keyed by (realm, bareId). New regression test:
Colliding_raw_and_uns_bare_ids_route_to_their_own_driver_by_realm.
M1 (MEDIUM): discovered-node injection made coherently DORMANT. HandleDiscoveredNodes
hard-short-circuits (single enforcement point; _discoveredByDriver never
populates so the re-inject tail is inert too), with a clear log pointing at the
/raw browse-commit flow. New pin: Discovered_nodes_are_ignored_dormant_in_v3;
the 16+2 v2 injection scenarios re-pointed to an accurate skip reason
(DiscoveryInjectionDormantV3).
M2 (MEDIUM): realm-qualified dual-node self-correction tests —
Failed_uns_write_reverts_uns_node_and_leaves_raw_node_untouched +
Raw_realm_revert_reverts_raw_node_only (the second fails if the realm is dropped).
L1: removed the = AddressSpaceRealm.Uns defaults from the consequential
node-manager mutation methods (WriteValue/WriteAlarmCondition/MaterialiseAlarmCondition/
EnsureFolder/EnsureVariable/UpdateFolderDisplayName/UpdateTagAttributes/
RaiseNodesAddedModelChange/Remove*/RevertOptimisticWriteIfNeeded) + the
AttributeValueUpdate/AlarmStateUpdate records, so the compiler forces explicit
realm; read-only accessors + internal builders retain their defaults.
L3: fixed the stale VirtualTagHostActor class comment (V3NodeIds.Uns, not the
retired EquipmentNodeIds.Variable).
Also: DeploymentArtifactRawUnsParityTests — Raw/UNS node-set byte-parity

Wave B of Batch 4 — the runtime binding seam for the dual namespace.
Applier (both realms, explicit realm at every sink call site):
- MaterialiseRawSubtree: Raw containers as folders + Raw tags as variables
keyed by RawPath (native-alarm tag → single Part 9 condition at the RawPath),
all in AddressSpaceRealm.Raw; historian tagname = override else RawPath.
- MaterialiseUnsReferences: each UNS reference Variable under its equipment
folder (Uns realm) + an Organizes UNS->Raw edge; inherits writable/array/
historian tagname from the backing raw tag (both NodeIds -> one tagname).
- FeedHistorizedRefs / ProvisionHistorizedTags now source RAW tags (mux ref
stays single, keyed by RawPath); ApplyPureRemove tears down raw tags + UNS
refs in place (raw-container removal falls back to rebuild).
DriverHostActor (dual-NodeId, single-source fan-out):
- _nodeIdByDriverRef value gains a realm (NodeRealmRef); rebuilt from
RawTags UNION UnsReferenceVariables so one (DriverInstanceId, RawPath) fans
to the raw NodeId AND every referencing UNS NodeId with identical
value/quality/timestamp. Write inverse map keyed by the bare id; the
ns-qualified NodeId the write hook passes is normalised (BareNodeId) so a
write to either NodeId resolves the same driver ref (-> RawPath write).
- Native raw alarm condition routing is realm-tagged (Raw); AttributeValueUpdate
+ AlarmStateUpdate carry the realm through to the sink.
Retire EquipmentNodeIds -> V3NodeIds.Uns (applier/VirtualTagHostActor) and
RawPaths.Combine (DiscoveredNodeMapper, discovered nodes are Raw now).
DeploymentArtifact.ParseComposition emits the Raw + UNS subtrees byte-parity
with the composer (reconstruct entities -> AddressSpaceComposer.Compose).
Sink surface: removed the transitional `= AddressSpaceRealm.Uns` defaults from
IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink / ISurgicalAddressSpaceSink / SdkAddressSpaceSink /
DeferredAddressSpaceSink / NullOpcUaAddressSpaceSink — every call site is now
explicit (realm reordered before the trailing optionals on EnsureVariable +
MaterialiseAlarmCondition). Node-manager convenience methods keep their
defaults (they are not the interface impl; Sdk delegates explicitly).
Tests: rewrote DriverHostActorLiveValueTests (fan-out drift, 1:N) +
DriverHostActorWriteRoutingTests (dual-NodeId raw/uns write routing) to the v3
raw+uns model; new AddressSpaceApplierRawUnsTests; migrated the EquipmentTags
provisioning/feed tests to RawTags; swept EquipmentNodeIds test callers.

Adds <summary>/<param>/<returns>/<inheritdoc> where missing and removes
project bookkeeping IDs (task/tracking refs) from shipped code comments,
so the docs read cleanly and CommentChecker is quiet except for known
false positives (PLC/protocol terms, event/IEqualityComparer inheritdoc).
Doc/comment-only; no logic changed; solution builds clean.
The OPC UA address-space build pipeline was named after a v2-roadmap
milestone number rather than its domain. Rename the family to describe
what it does (build/diff/apply the OPC UA address space):
Phase7Composer -> AddressSpaceComposer
Phase7CompositionResult -> AddressSpaceComposition
Phase7Planner -> AddressSpacePlanner
Phase7Plan -> AddressSpacePlan
Phase7Applier -> AddressSpaceApplier
Phase7ApplyOutcome -> AddressSpaceApplyOutcome
The 9 Phase7*Tests suites follow suit; Phase7ScriptingEntitiesTests ->
ScriptingEntitiesTests (it tests the scripting migration, not the
pipeline). Log-message prefixes move to the new class names.
Pure mechanical rename, no behavioral change. EF migration classes/IDs
(AddPhase7ScriptingTables, ExtendComputeGenerationDiffWithPhase7) are
immutable and left untouched, as are historical design docs.
Build clean; OpcUaServer 261/261, Runtime 272/272, ScriptingEntities
12/12 green.
ParseComposition(blob, nodeId, onInconsistency?) detects a kept equipment whose
UNS line belongs to another cluster (a same-cluster-invariant violation that
would orphan the equipment folder) and reports it via an optional callback,
wired to OpcUaPublishActor's logger. Detection-only; the upstream draft
validator remains the authority. Adds two unit tests.
Add Phase7Applier.MaterialiseEquipmentTags — a sink-based pass (Task-0 decision A) that
ensures each EquipmentTagPlan's Variable (NodeId = FullName) under its existing equipment
folder, nesting any FolderPath as a sub-folder. Wire it into OpcUaPublishActor.HandleRebuild
after the Galaxy pass. Variables start BadWaitingForInitialData; never re-creates equipment
folders (decision #4).
Two ordering/lifecycle gaps surfaced once tag values began streaming:
1. OpcUaPublishActor.HandleRebuild loaded the latest *Sealed* artifact, but the
rebuild fires at apply time — before this deployment seals — so it materialised
the PREVIOUS revision while SubscribeBulk subscribed to the applied one. The two
disagreed (4 variables materialised vs 396 subscribed) and every config needed
two deploys. RebuildAddressSpace now carries the applied DeploymentId and the
rebuild loads that exact artifact.
2. On restart a node recovered its revision from NodeDeploymentState but left the
driver children + address space empty (and an identical-config redeploy no-ops on
the unchanged revision), so a rebuilt node served nothing until a config change.
Bootstrap now calls RestoreApplied: re-spawn drivers, rebuild from the applied
artifact, re-push SubscribeBulk — no re-ack.
Verified live: recreating the driver nodes auto-restores all 396 galaxy mirror
tags across 40 machines with Good live values, no deploy required.
Adds <summary>, <param>, <typeparam>, and <inheritdoc/> tags to public
members surfaced by commentchecker — resolves 5,847 of 5,869 issues
(99.6%) across three /fixdocs passes.
Closes the gap where Tag rows with EquipmentId=NULL + Namespace.Kind=SystemPlatform
(Galaxy hierarchy) existed in ConfigDb but were never surfaced in the OPC UA
address space. Now they materialise as Variable nodes under a folder named for
their FolderPath, browseable through any OPC UA client.
Layers touched:
- IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink: new EnsureVariable(nodeId, parentFolderId, displayName,
dataType) signature on the sink interface, NullSink, DeferredSink, SdkSink.
- OtOpcUaNodeManager.EnsureVariable: creates a BaseDataVariableState parented
under the named folder (or root), initial Value=null +
StatusCode=BadWaitingForInitialData; resolves Tag.DataType strings to the
matching OPC UA built-in NodeId. Idempotent.
- Phase7CompositionResult: new GalaxyTags collection of GalaxyTagPlan records
carrying (TagId, DriverInstanceId, FolderPath, DisplayName, DataType,
MxAccessRef). Constructor overloads keep existing call sites compiling.
- Phase7Composer.Compose: now takes Tag + Namespace inputs, filters for
SystemPlatform-namespace tags with EquipmentId=NULL, emits GalaxyTagPlan
rows with MXAccess ref "FolderPath.Name".
- Phase7Plan: new AddedGalaxyTags / RemovedGalaxyTags / ChangedGalaxyTags
collections + GalaxyTagDelta record; IsEmpty + needsRebuild updated.
- Phase7Planner.Compute: diffs GalaxyTags by TagId via existing DiffById helper.
- DeploymentArtifact.ParseComposition: reads the Tags + Namespaces +
DriverInstances arrays the ConfigComposer already emits, applies the same
SystemPlatform filter, returns the same GalaxyTagPlan list as the composer
so artifact-side and compose-side plans agree.
- Phase7Applier: new MaterialiseGalaxyTags pass that ensures one folder per
distinct FolderPath then one Variable per tag. NodeId for the variable is
"<FolderPath>.<Name>" matching the MXAccess ref so the future Galaxy
SubscribeBulk wiring can address them directly.
- OpcUaPublishActor.RebuildAddressSpace: invokes MaterialiseGalaxyTags after
MaterialiseHierarchy. _lastApplied initialiser updated for the new ctor.
- seed-clusters.sql: pre-existing TestMachine_001.TestAlarm001..003 rows
needed no change — the composer/applier now picks them up automatically.

"Phase7Applier: Galaxy tags materialised (tags=3, folders=1)" → OPC UA Client
CLI browses the three Variable nodes under TestMachine_001 folder. Reads
return BadWaitingForInitialData status (expected — Galaxy driver's
SubscribeBulk wiring to push values into the nodes is the remaining
follow-up).
Phase7Composer now carries UnsAreaProjection + UnsLineProjection lists so
the applier can materialise the full UNS topology in the OPC UA address
space. New IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink.EnsureFolder(folderNodeId, parentNodeId,
displayName) seam (no-op default, recorded in tests, forwarded by
DeferredAddressSpaceSink, implemented by SdkAddressSpaceSink). The SDK-
side OtOpcUaNodeManager gains an EnsureFolder API that creates
FolderState nodes with proper parent linkage; RebuildAddressSpace now
clears folders too so re-applies don't accumulate stale topology.
Phase7Applier.MaterialiseHierarchy walks composition.UnsAreas →
composition.UnsLines → composition.EquipmentNodes, calling EnsureFolder
with the correct parent at each level. Idempotent — calling twice with
the same composition is a no-op. OpcUaPublishActor.HandleRebuild invokes
it after Phase7Applier.Apply so OPC UA clients browsing the server now
see Area/Line/Equipment as proper folders rather than flat tag ids.
DeploymentArtifact.ParseComposition reads UnsAreas + UnsLines from the
JSON snapshot the ControlPlane emits, populating the new fields when
present.
Phase7Composer.Compose now accepts UnsAreas + UnsLines; a 3-arg overload
preserves the old signature for legacy callers + existing tests. The
Phase7CompositionResult convenience ctor likewise keeps the planner
tests working without UNS data.
3 new hierarchy tests (pure unit + boot-verify against a real
OtOpcUaSdkServer); OpcUaServer suite is 48/48 green (was 45, +3),
Runtime 74/74 unchanged.
Closes#85.
OtOpcUaTelemetry (Commons/Observability) centralizes the project's Meter
+ ActivitySource so all instrumentation points emit through a single
named surface. Counters cover the hot paths:
otopcua.deploy.applied (outcome=ack|reject)
otopcua.deploy.apply.duration (s, histogram)
otopcua.driver.lifecycle (event=spawn|spawn_stub|stop|fault)
otopcua.virtualtag.eval (outcome=ok|fail|skip)
otopcua.scriptedalarm.transition (state=activated|acknowledged|cleared)
otopcua.opcua.sink.write (kind=value|alarm|rebuild)
otopcua.redundancy.service_level_change (level=byte)
Plus two ActivitySource spans:
otopcua.deploy.apply wraps DriverHostActor.ApplyAndAck
otopcua.opcua.address_space_rebuild wraps OpcUaPublishActor.HandleRebuild
Instruments are no-op until a listener attaches, so tests + dev hosts
pay nothing for unread telemetry.
Host Program.cs gains AddOtOpcUaObservability() (binds the OtOpcUa Meter
+ ActivitySource to OpenTelemetry, attaches a Prometheus exporter) and
MapOtOpcUaMetrics() (mounts /metrics scrape endpoint). Driver-side
internals + ASP.NET request metrics deliberately stay off — the scrape
payload is scoped to OtOpcUa signals only.
Tests use MeterListener + ActivityListener to verify
VirtualTagActor.eval, OpcUaPublishActor.AttributeValueUpdate, and
RebuildAddressSpace actually emit on the central instruments. Runtime
suite is 72 / 72 green (+3).
Closes#105. Path A (F13b/c/d) complete; next batch options: #85 UNS
folder hierarchy in SDK, or F8b/F9b production engine bindings.
Closes the loop between F10b (SDK NodeManager) and F14 (Phase7Plan +
Phase7Applier). DriverHostActor's successful apply now triggers a
RebuildAddressSpace on the publish actor, which loads the latest
deployment artifact + walks composer → planner → applier through the
sink. The OPC UA address space tracks the deployed composition.
DeploymentArtifact:
- New ParseComposition(blob) → Phase7CompositionResult that decodes
Equipment + DriverInstance + ScriptedAlarm arrays into the
projection records Phase7Planner consumes. Pascal-case property
names mirror ConfigComposer.SnapshotAndFlattenAsync's output.
- Each entity reader is tolerant: missing-id rows are dropped,
natural-key sort matches Phase7Composer's contract.
OpcUaPublishActor:
- New Props params: dbFactory + applier. When wired, RebuildAddressSpace
does:
1. LoadLatestArtifact (most recent Sealed Deployment.ArtifactBlob)
2. ParseComposition → Phase7CompositionResult
3. Phase7Planner.Compute(lastApplied, next) → Phase7Plan
4. Empty plan ⇒ no-op (deploy of unchanged composition is benign)
5. applier.Apply(plan) drives sink.RebuildAddressSpace +
WriteAlarmState for removed nodes
6. lastApplied = next so the next rebuild diffs forward
- Without dbFactory/applier wiring, falls back to raw
sink.RebuildAddressSpace — the dev/Mac path before #108 binds prod.
DriverHostActor:
- New Props param opcUaPublishActor (IActorRef?). After successful
ApplyAndAck (status Applied, ACK sent), tells the publish actor
RebuildAddressSpace with the same correlation id so the audit trail
threads through. Null publish actor ⇒ no trigger (admin-only nodes).
Tests: Runtime 63 -> 69 (+6):
- ParseComposition reads Equipment/Driver/Alarm sorted by natural key
- ParseComposition returns empty for empty blob
- Rebuild with dbFactory + sealed deployment artifact triggers exactly
one sink.Rebuild call (Equipment topology added)
- Rebuild with no artifact is idempotent no-op
- Second rebuild with same composition is empty-plan no-op
- Rebuild without dbFactory falls back to raw sink.Rebuild (legacy path)
All 6 v2 test suites green: 173 tests passing.
Closes#109. Engine-wiring data flow is now end-to-end through:
Deploy → DriverHostActor.ApplyAndAck → driver spawn + ACK +
RebuildAddressSpace → OpcUaPublishActor → Phase7Applier → SDK
NodeManager → subscribed OPC UA clients see the change.
OpcUaPublishActor now routes through pluggable seams instead of just
incrementing a counter:
- IOpcUaAddressSpaceSink (Commons.OpcUa) — WriteValue / WriteAlarmState
/ RebuildAddressSpace. OpcUaQuality enum moved here from the actor's
nested type so producers don't have to reference the actor itself.
- IServiceLevelPublisher — Publish(byte). NullServiceLevelPublisher
retains the last level for inspection.
- The actor subscribes to the redundancy-state DPS topic in PreStart
and maps the local node's NodeRedundancyState to a coarse
ServiceLevel (Primary+leader=240, Primary=200, Secondary=100,
Detached=0). This keeps the local SDK's ServiceLevel node honest
without round-tripping back through the admin-singleton calculator.
- ServiceLevelChanged dedupes identical levels so the SDK doesn't see
redundant writes.
- Sink + publisher exceptions are caught and logged; the actor never
crashes its own dispatcher.
- PropsForTests gets optional sink/publisher/localNode params and
skips the DPS subscribe so unit tests stay on a vanilla TestKit
cluster.
Production binding to a real SDK NodeManager + Variable nodes is the
remaining residual — split as F10b. Task 60 still blocked on F10b.
Tests: Runtime 40 -> 46 (+6):
- AttributeValueUpdate routes to sink
- AlarmStateUpdate routes to sink
- RebuildAddressSpace calls sink.Rebuild
- ServiceLevelChanged dedupes
- RedundancyStateChanged for primary-leader publishes 240
- RedundancyStateChanged for secondary publishes 100
All 6 v2 test suites green: 132 tests passing.
