Closes the four remaining items in the 2026-06-24 template-inheritance/CLI
follow-up tracker.

#4 — CLI `instance set-bindings` can now set DataSourceReferenceOverride.
  `--bindings` accepts an optional 3rd element per entry:
  [attributeName, dataConnectionId, dataSourceReferenceOverride]. A string
  sets the override; a JSON null or an omitted 3rd element leaves it unset
  (template default). TryParseBindings accepts 2- or 3-element entries and
  rejects a non-string/non-null 3rd element or 4+ elements with a clean
  error. Previously the CLI sent the override as null and silently wiped any
  existing one (only a raw POST /management could set it).

#5 — `template update` is partial, not full-replace (fixed server-side so all
  clients benefit). UpdateTemplateAsync now uses leave-unchanged semantics:
  a null description keeps the stored value (pass "" to clear); a null
  parentTemplateId keeps the existing parent. Parent stays immutable — a
  non-null differing value is still rejected — but omitting --parent-id is
  now a no-op instead of failing every derived-template update.

#6 — compact `template list`/`get` table output + `--detail`. Table output is
  now id/name/description/parent/derived + member counts (#attrs/#alarms/
  #scripts/#comps/#nativeAlarms) via TemplateTableProjection, fed through a
  new optional tableProjector seam on CommandHelpers. `--detail` restores the
  full dump. JSON output is left untouched (always full) so machine consumers
  are unaffected — the projector only runs on the table path.

#8 — structured deploy-time validation error. New ValidationResult.SummarizeErrors()
  (Commons) returns a grouped, capped summary: leading total count, one line
  per ValidationCategory, and a per-module rollup (canonical name up to its
  last dot) with counts + "... and N more module(s)" caps. DeploymentService
  uses it for the "Pre-deployment validation failed" message and logs the full
  per-entry list via LogWarning. Replaces the flat semicolon-joined dump that
  became a wall of text for instances with 50-194 unbound attributes.

Tests: +8 Commons (SummarizeErrors), +8 CLI (4 binding 3-element / 4 table
projection), +2 net TemplateEngine (partial-update). Affected suites green:
Commons 587, CLI 341, TemplateEngine 447, DeploymentManager 101,
ManagementService 230, CentralUI 866; full solution builds 0/0.

# ScadaBridge CLI
Command-line tool for managing the ScadaBridge SCADA system. Connects to a Central node via HTTP and routes commands through the Management API endpoint (`POST /management`), which dispatches to the ManagementActor. Authentication is handled server-side via LDAP.
## Installation

The output binary is `scadabridge` (or `scadabridge.exe` on Windows).
## Connection
Every command requires a connection to a running Central node. The management URL can be supplied three ways, evaluated in this priority order:
1. `--url` flag on the command line
2. `SCADABRIDGE_MANAGEMENT_URL` environment variable
3. `managementUrl` field in `~/.scadabridge/config.json`

**Docker:** With the Docker setup, the Central UI (and management API) is available at `http://localhost:9001`:

For HA failover, use a load balancer URL. The management API is stateless (Basic Auth per request), so any central node can handle any request without sticky sessions.
## Global Options
These options are accepted by the root command and inherited by all subcommands.

## Environment Variables

## Command Reference
### `template` — Manage templates
#### `template list`
List all templates. **Table** output (`--format table`) shows a compact summary — id,
name, description, parent, and member **counts** (`#attrs`, `#alarms`, `#scripts`,
`#comps`, `#nativeAlarms`) — so it stays readable in a terminal. Add `--detail` to dump
the full attribute/alarm/script/composition definitions in the table. **JSON** output
(`--format json`) is always the full, unmodified payload regardless of `--detail`.

#### `template create`
Create a new template, optionally inheriting from a parent.

#### `template update`
Update an existing template. Optional fields use **leave-unchanged** semantics: omitting
`--description` or `--parent-id` keeps the stored value rather than wiping it. To
explicitly clear the description, pass an empty string (`--description ""`). The parent
template is immutable after creation — omit `--parent-id` (or pass the current value);
passing a different value is rejected.

**List example** — add a multi-value String attribute with two default elements:

The CLI validates the data-type / element-type combination locally before calling the
API: `--data-type List` requires a valid `--element-type`, and `--element-type` may only
be supplied when `--data-type` is `List`. The Management API re-validates server-side.
#### `template attribute update`
Update an attribute on a template. An update **replaces** the whole entity — every
required field below must be supplied with its post-update value, even if unchanged.

#### `template resync-members`
Reconcile a template's stored *inherited* member rows (and those of its whole derived subtree) with the resolved effective inherited set: materialize missing inherited placeholders (e.g. base members added after a derived template was created), re-sync drifted ones to the live base value, and remove orphaned ones. After a resync the template editor's member tabs are complete and the "Base template changed" banner clears. Authored overrides are never touched. Base member changes auto-propagate going forward; this command repairs templates that drifted before that was in place. Returns the per-subtree change counts (templates changed, members added/updated/removed).

The optional **third element** sets the per-instance data-source reference override
(the OPC UA node id / protocol address used in place of the template's
`DataSourceReference` for that attribute). Pass a string to set it, or `null` / omit
it to use the template default:

> **Note:** this command **replaces** all bindings for the instance. Include the
> override on every entry that needs one — omitting the third element clears any
> previously-set override for that attribute.
#### `instance set-overrides`
Set attribute value overrides for an instance.

#### `instance import-overrides`
Apply attribute value overrides from a CSV file. The CSV must have a header row (`AttributeName,Value,ElementType`; the `ElementType` column is optional). An empty `Value` cell clears the override for that attribute. If the file contains any parse errors, all errors are printed and no overrides are applied.

Request a point-in-time snapshot of a running instance's current attribute values and alarm states from the site. The instance must be deployed and enabled.

### `audit` — Centralized Audit Log
Read access to the central append-only **Audit Log** (#23) — the record of every
script-trust-boundary action: outbound API calls (sync + cached), outbound DB
operations (sync + cached), notifications, and inbound API calls. This is distinct
from the configuration-change audit trail exposed by [`audit-config`](#audit-config--configuration-change-audit-log).
The subcommands map directly onto the `GET /api/audit/query`,
`GET /api/audit/export`, `GET /api/audit/tree`, and
`POST /api/audit/backfill-source-node` management endpoints. Filters and the
result columns mirror the Central UI **Audit** page, so a CLI query and a UI
query with the same filters return the same rows — CLI ↔ UI filter parity is
intentional.
**Permissions.** Querying and tree traversal require the `OperationalAudit`
permission (roles `Admin`, `Audit`, or `AuditReadOnly`). Exporting requires the
stricter `AuditExport` permission (roles `Admin` or `Audit`) — read access does
*not* imply export access. The `backfill-source-node` maintenance command requires
the `Admin` role. A request without the required role returns exit code `2`.

The `--channel`/`--kind`/`--status`/`--site` filters accept multiple values —
either as repeated flags (`--channel ApiOutbound --channel DbOutbound`) or
space-separated after one flag (`--channel ApiOutbound DbOutbound`). Values
within one filter are OR-combined; the different filters are AND-combined.
With `--format table`, events render as an aligned text table with columns
`OccurredAtUtc`, `Channel`, `Kind`, `Status`, `Target`, `Actor`, `DurationMs`,
`HttpStatus`; long `Target`/`Actor` values are truncated with an ellipsis. With
`--format json` (the default), each page is emitted as JSONL — one JSON object per
line — which streams cleanly under `--all` across many pages.
#### `audit export`
Export audit log events to a file. The export streams from the server, so it is not
bounded by the query page size.

#### `audit tree` (M5.3 T8)
Display the full execution-chain tree for a given execution ID. The server walks
`ParentExecutionId` to find the root, then traverses downward to collect all
reachable executions in the chain.

The `--execution-id` can be any node in the chain — the server resolves the root
automatically. With `--format table` the tree is printed as an indented text
representation. With `--format json` (the default) a structured JSON tree is
returned, suitable for scripting. Backed by `GET /api/audit/tree?executionId=<guid>`.
Requires `OperationalAudit` permission.
#### `audit backfill-source-node` (M5.6 T5)
Set `SourceNode` to a sentinel value on pre-feature rows where `SourceNode IS NULL`
and `OccurredAtUtc` is older than `--before`. Admin-only maintenance command.

The command is idempotent — running it multiple times converges (only rows where
`SourceNode IS NULL` are eligible; already-set rows are untouched). Backed by

### `audit-config` — Configuration-change audit log
Query the configuration-change audit trail (the `IAuditService` record of admin
edits to templates, instances, sites, etc.). This is **separate** from the
centralized [`audit`](#audit--centralized-audit-log) group above.
> **Renamed.** This group was named `audit-log` before #23 M8. The old name still
> works as a deprecated alias — `scadabridge audit-log query ...` resolves the full

### `bundle` — Transport bundle export / preview / import
Export, preview, and import Transport (#24) bundles. Bundles carry templates, shared
scripts, external systems, database connections, notification lists, SMTP configurations,
and API methods between environments. As of M8 (T18) they also carry **site-scoped**
configuration — `Site` definitions, site-scoped `DataConnection`s (protocol connections),
and `Instance`s (with their override children and area membership). Inbound API keys are
**not** transported — recreate them on the destination via the CLI or UI.
Bundle commands use a 5-minute timeout (larger payloads may be slow over WAN).
#### `bundle export`
Export selected entities to a `.scadabundle` file.

Load a bundle and print the diff preview (Added / Modified / Unchanged per entity) without applying any changes. When the bundle carries sites or site-scoped connections, the preview also prints a **required-mapping summary**: for each source site/connection it states either the auto-match (`auto-matches 'X'`) or the directive to supply `--map-site` / `--map-connection` or `--create-missing-*`.

Site identifiers and connection names are environment-specific; the importer first auto-matches them (sites by `SiteIdentifier`, connections by the site-qualified `{SiteIdentifier}/{Name}`). Any source reference that neither auto-matches nor is mapped/created aborts the import. Imported instances always land `NotDeployed` — redeploy via the normal flow.

### `cached-call` — Retry or discard parked cached-call operations
Manage parked `ExternalSystem.CachedCall` and `Database.CachedWrite` operations at a
site. Both sub-commands relay via the central `SiteCallAuditActor` → site relay and
require the **Deployer** role.

## Architecture Notes
The CLI connects to the Central cluster using Akka.NET's `ClusterClient`. It does not join the cluster — it contacts the `ClusterClientReceptionist` on one of the configured Central nodes and sends commands to the `ManagementActor` at path `/user/management`.
The connection is established per-command invocation and torn down cleanly via `CoordinatedShutdown` when the command completes.
Role enforcement is applied by the ManagementActor on the server side. The CLI authenticates against LDAP using `--username` / `--password`, resolves LDAP group memberships, then maps groups to ScadaBridge roles (Admin, Design, Deployment) via role mappings configured in the security settings. Operations require the appropriate role — for example, creating templates requires `Design`, deploying requires `Deployment`. In the test environment, use the `multi-role` user (password: `password`) which has all three roles.
