tag gate, and fix three silently-broken OpcUaClient integration tests
Continues working through deferment.md's remaining items.
SKIPPED TESTS (13 -> 0 for this reason). The skip said "dark until Batch 4";
Batch 4 shipped as v3.0 and RETIRED the equipment-tag path rather than lighting
it, so every one of them was waiting on something that had already happened and
gone the other way. Resolved individually rather than in bulk:
- REVIVED onto the raw/UNS shape (6): four DriverHostActor primary-gate cases,
the cluster-scoping rebuild, and the real-SDK dual-namespace materialisation
E2E. The behaviour never went dark, only the v2 seeding did.
- FOLDED into a live parity test (3): DeploymentArtifactRawUnsParityTests
already compared RawTagPlan record-equal and RawTagPlan carries array /
historize / alarm intent, so widening its corpus by two tags covers what
three empty placeholder suites had been promising. Those suites are deleted.
- DELETED (4): subjects genuinely retired -- equipment-namespace EquipmentTags,
and both dot-joint {{equip}}.X token suites (that resolver was deleted in
Batch 3; the slash-joint form is covered by DeploymentArtifactEquipRefParityTests).
Falsified, not assumed: removing the seeded UnsTagReference turns two revived
primary-gate tests red; re-homing the SITE-A node to MAIN turns the scoping test
red. Widening a parity corpus also needed direct value assertions -- parity alone
cannot distinguish "both seams right" from "both seams blind".
Runtime.Tests skips 13->3, OpcUaServer.Tests 4->1; all remaining are deliberate
EquipmentDeviceBindingRetired tombstones.
G-7 (deploy-time TagConfig gate). MQTT shipped an Inspect() nobody ever called;
now wired. Replaced the hand-maintained list with a reflection guard, because the
existing test enumerates driver types by hand and so guards renames but can never
notice a gap. NOTE: the first version of that guard was hollow -- it discovered
candidates via GetReferencedAssemblies(), which is circular, since the compiler
elides a reference nothing in the IL uses. Removing MQTT from the map also removed
its Contracts assembly from the manifest, and the guard passed green with the bug
reintroduced. Rewritten to scan the output directory; re-falsified and it now
fails naming MqttTagDefinitionFactory. Residual recorded at the code: Sql,
MTConnect, Calculation and OpcUaClient have no Contracts-side Inspect at all, so
the deploy gate stays weaker than the AdminUI's authoring gate for them.
OPCUACLIENT INTEGRATION TESTS (3 of 4 failing, on master too). Not fixture rot:
the simulator was healthy and Client.CLI read the very same node Good. v3 made the
driver resolve every reference through its authored RawTags table, so a bare
"ns=3;s=StepUp" fails LOCALLY at the resolver with BadNodeIdInvalid and never
reaches the wire -- the tests were exercising the unresolved-reference guard.
Fixed by seeding OpcPlcProfile.RawTags in the deploy artifact's TagConfig shape
and addressing by RawPath. 4/4 pass.
DOCS. Applied the Phase7* -> AddressSpace* rename across the four live docs
(historical bannered files deliberately untouched), resolving the three that are
not renames to their real members. Found en route that the earlier banner pass
missed three files: VirtualTags.md, OpcUaServer.md and ScriptedAlarms.md all
still presented the test-scaffolding GenericDriverNodeManager as the production
dispatch path. All three now carry the correction.

Fix TESTS only (production already green) so the four in-scope test projects
compile + pass under the v3 dark address space:
- Core.Abstractions.Tests: drop AllowedNamespaceKinds/NamespaceKindCompatibility
from DriverTypeMetadata; rewrite EquipmentTagRefResolver tests to the single-func
RawPath-lookup contract (no parseRef/transient cache).
- Core.Tests: rewrite EquipmentNodeWalkerTests to EquipmentNamespaceContent(Areas,
Lines,Equipment,VirtualTags?,ScriptedAlarms?) — folders + VirtualTags +
ScriptedAlarms only; raw-tag variables dark (skipped Batch-4 placeholder). Drop
retired Equipment.DriverInstanceId.
- Runtime.Tests: rewrite golden corpus + TagConfigCorpusParityTests to the v3
RawPath/RawTagEntry round-trip (byte + TagConfigIntent parity; EquipmentTags dark).
Salvage VirtualTag + ScriptedAlarm artifact parity to the new Compose signature.
Retire the equipment-tag-materialization parity files (Array/Historize/Alias) and
the equipment-device-binding DeviceHost parity to documented skipped placeholders.
Skip 34 dark equipment-tag routing/value/alarm/write/discovery actor tests with a
shared DarkAddressSpaceReasons constant. Re-key cluster-scoped tests to v3 UNS
line->area attribution.
- ControlPlane.Tests: ConfigComposer round-trips re-keyed to RawFolder/Device (no
Namespaces); tag-config gate resolves driver via Device; deploy-gate collision test
re-keyed to UnsEffectiveNameCollision; drop retired BadCrossClusterNamespaceBinding
case.
The DriverInstance.ResilienceConfig column was authored in AdminUI, persisted to the
entity, and serialized into the deployment artifact by ConfigComposer — but the runtime
read path dropped it: DriverInstanceSpec didn't carry it and the invoker factory always
passed null, so every driver got tier defaults regardless of its configured overrides
(a silent dead-config gap — #10's residual sub-finding).
Read-path plumbing (write side was already complete):
- DriverInstanceSpec gains ResilienceConfig; DeploymentArtifact.TryReadSpec reads the column.
- IDriverCapabilityInvokerFactory.Create takes resilienceConfigJson; DriverHostActor.SpawnChild
threads spec.ResilienceConfig; the concrete factory parses it (ParseOrDefaults, layering on the
tier), logs any parse diagnostic (never throws), and builds the invoker with the merged options.
- Invalidate-on-change: the pipeline cache keys on (instance, host, capability) and ignores options
on a hit, so Create() now Invalidate()s the instance's cached pipelines first (no-op on first
spawn) — a respawn with changed options rebuilds them.
- DriverSpawnPlanner treats a ResilienceConfig change as a stop+respawn (the invoker/options are
bound to the child at spawn); a pure DriverConfig change stays an in-place delta (no reconnect).
- Host DI passes a logger to the factory for the parse diagnostic.
Verification (deterministic): factory Create applies a retryCount:0 override to actual execution
(control test proves tier default retries), invalidates the instance's cache on re-create (scoped —
sibling survives), malformed config logs+falls-back; planner respawns on ResilienceConfig change
(incl null→json) and stays delta on a pure config change; artifact parse carries/omits the column.
Core.Tests 243 (+5), Runtime.Tests 363 (+5), Host builds clean.
The OPC UA address-space build pipeline was named after a v2-roadmap
milestone number rather than its domain. Rename the family to describe
what it does (build/diff/apply the OPC UA address space):
Phase7Composer -> AddressSpaceComposer
Phase7CompositionResult -> AddressSpaceComposition
Phase7Planner -> AddressSpacePlanner
Phase7Plan -> AddressSpacePlan
Phase7Applier -> AddressSpaceApplier
Phase7ApplyOutcome -> AddressSpaceApplyOutcome
The 9 Phase7*Tests suites follow suit; Phase7ScriptingEntitiesTests ->
ScriptingEntitiesTests (it tests the scripting migration, not the
pipeline). Log-message prefixes move to the new class names.
Pure mechanical rename, no behavioral change. EF migration classes/IDs
(AddPhase7ScriptingTables, ExtendComputeGenerationDiffWithPhase7) are
immutable and left untouched, as are historical design docs.
Build clean; OpcUaServer 261/261, Runtime 272/272, ScriptingEntities
12/12 green.
ParseComposition(blob, nodeId, onInconsistency?) detects a kept equipment whose
UNS line belongs to another cluster (a same-cluster-invariant violation that
would orphan the equipment folder) and reports it via an optional callback,
wired to OpcUaPublishActor's logger. Detection-only; the upstream draft
validator remains the authority. Adds two unit tests.
Two bundle-review fixes + idempotency coverage:
- CRITICAL: the planner ignored EquipmentTags, so an incremental deploy changing only
equipment tags produced an empty plan and HandleRebuild short-circuited before
materialising them. Add TagId to EquipmentTagPlan + Added/Removed/ChangedEquipmentTags
to Phase7Plan (diffed by TagId, in IsEmpty, driving Apply's needsRebuild) — mirroring
the GalaxyTags treatment.
- IMPORTANT: equipment variable NodeId was the raw driver FullName, which collides across
identical machines (e.g. two PLCs both exposing register 40001) — the second variable
was silently dropped. NodeId is now folder-scoped (parent/Name); FullName stays on
EquipmentTagPlan for the later values-routing milestone.
- Task 4: SDK-backed idempotency test (double-apply -> single variable); restart-safety
confirmed (RestoreApplied reuses the same RebuildAddressSpace -> HandleRebuild path).
- Minor: align composer equipment-tag sort with the artifact decoder (coalesce FolderPath).
Equipment folder DisplayName was the colloquial MachineCode; the live rebuild (artifact
ReadEquipmentNode) + composer now use the UNS level-5 Name segment, matching Area/Line
folders + EquipmentNodeWalker. NodeId stays the logical EquipmentId so browse-path
resolution + ACLs are unaffected.
Add EquipmentTagPlan + an init-only EquipmentTags member on Phase7CompositionResult
(mirror of GalaxyTags). Populate it compose-side (Tag.EquipmentId != null AND owning
namespace Kind == Equipment) and artifact-decode-side via BuildEquipmentTagPlans, with
FullName extracted from Tag.TagConfig. Init-only member (not a 7th positional param) so
existing convenience constructors + call sites are untouched.
Adds <summary>, <param>, <typeparam>, and <inheritdoc/> tags to public
members surfaced by commentchecker — resolves 5,847 of 5,869 issues
(99.6%) across three /fixdocs passes.
Closes the loop between F10b (SDK NodeManager) and F14 (Phase7Plan +
Phase7Applier). DriverHostActor's successful apply now triggers a
RebuildAddressSpace on the publish actor, which loads the latest
deployment artifact + walks composer → planner → applier through the
sink. The OPC UA address space tracks the deployed composition.
DeploymentArtifact:
- New ParseComposition(blob) → Phase7CompositionResult that decodes
Equipment + DriverInstance + ScriptedAlarm arrays into the
projection records Phase7Planner consumes. Pascal-case property
names mirror ConfigComposer.SnapshotAndFlattenAsync's output.
- Each entity reader is tolerant: missing-id rows are dropped,
natural-key sort matches Phase7Composer's contract.
OpcUaPublishActor:
- New Props params: dbFactory + applier. When wired, RebuildAddressSpace
does:
1. LoadLatestArtifact (most recent Sealed Deployment.ArtifactBlob)
2. ParseComposition → Phase7CompositionResult
3. Phase7Planner.Compute(lastApplied, next) → Phase7Plan
4. Empty plan ⇒ no-op (deploy of unchanged composition is benign)
5. applier.Apply(plan) drives sink.RebuildAddressSpace +
WriteAlarmState for removed nodes
6. lastApplied = next so the next rebuild diffs forward
- Without dbFactory/applier wiring, falls back to raw
sink.RebuildAddressSpace — the dev/Mac path before #108 binds prod.
DriverHostActor:
- New Props param opcUaPublishActor (IActorRef?). After successful
ApplyAndAck (status Applied, ACK sent), tells the publish actor
RebuildAddressSpace with the same correlation id so the audit trail
threads through. Null publish actor ⇒ no trigger (admin-only nodes).
Tests: Runtime 63 -> 69 (+6):
- ParseComposition reads Equipment/Driver/Alarm sorted by natural key
- ParseComposition returns empty for empty blob
- Rebuild with dbFactory + sealed deployment artifact triggers exactly
one sink.Rebuild call (Equipment topology added)
- Rebuild with no artifact is idempotent no-op
- Second rebuild with same composition is empty-plan no-op
- Rebuild without dbFactory falls back to raw sink.Rebuild (legacy path)
All 6 v2 test suites green: 173 tests passing.
Closes#109. Engine-wiring data flow is now end-to-end through:
Deploy → DriverHostActor.ApplyAndAck → driver spawn + ACK +
RebuildAddressSpace → OpcUaPublishActor → Phase7Applier → SDK
NodeManager → subscribed OPC UA clients see the change.
DriverHostActor.ApplyAndAck now reads the deployment artifact and
reconciles its set of DriverInstanceActor children — spawn the missing,
ApplyDelta to those with changed config, stop the removed/disabled.
The diff lives in pure DriverSpawnPlanner so it can be unit-tested
without an ActorSystem.
Adds IDriverFactory in Core.Abstractions (consumed by Runtime) +
DriverFactoryRegistryAdapter in Core.Hosting that wraps the existing
v1 DriverFactoryRegistry — Runtime stays decoupled from Polly/Serilog,
the Host wires the adapter once driver assemblies have registered.
ShouldStub(type, roles) is now actually called on every spawn — Galaxy
+ Wonderware-Historian boot stubbed on macOS/Linux or whenever the host
carries the dev role. Missing factory ⇒ stub fallback, never a crash.
Tests: 24 → 34 in Runtime (+10):
- DriverSpawnPlannerTests x7 (diff cases, type change ⇒ stop+respawn)
- DeploymentArtifactTests x5 (empty/malformed/missing fields tolerant)
- DriverHostActorReconcileTests x4 (spawn count, stub fallback,
ShouldStub gate, second-apply stops the removed)
All 6 v2 test suites green: 120 tests passing.
Closes F20 (ShouldStub wired). F7 marked partial — subscription
publishing + write path still stubbed in DriverInstanceActor itself.
