docs(drivers): un-stale the MQTT README rows + track every known gap as an issue
The cross-driver README still described MQTT as pre-P2 — "Sparkplug B is P2
(`mode: SparkplugB` is a placeholder)" and "Sparkplug B has no fixture yet (P2)".
Both were false as of the P2 merge (

docs(mqtt): Sparkplug P2 live-verified; MQTT driver complete
Task 26 — the P2 milestone gate. Ran the live /run verification on an isolated
docker-dev rig (project otopcua-mqtt, ports 9210/4850-4851/14350, image built
from this branch) against the real Mosquitto TLS+auth broker and the C#
Sparkplug edge-node simulator on 10.100.0.35, and recorded the result.
The gate found three defects. Two are the same defect class the P1 gate found
twice — a hand-maintained AdminUI surface left behind by a driver-side feature —
and the third is a pre-existing cross-driver bug that only a Sparkplug flow
could surface.
1. CRITICAL, FIXED — MqttDriverForm still shipped its P1 Sparkplug PLACEHOLDER.
Switching Mode to SparkplugB rendered a "not available yet" notice and NO
Group ID field, so with Sparkplug ingest fully shipped there was still no
way to author a Sparkplug driver from the AdminUI at all. Sparkplug.GroupId
is the driver's entire subscription filter (spBv1.0/{GroupId}/#): blank ⇒
connected, Healthy, ingesting nothing. Now authors all five Sparkplug keys,
MERGES over the existing sub-object rather than replacing it (so a key a
newer driver adds inside it survives an older AdminUI), leaves it untouched
in Plain mode, and validates the group id as the topic segment it is.
Pinned by 8 MqttDriverFormModelTests cases, verified falsifiable — 8 RED
with the fix stubbed out.
2. PRE-EXISTING + CROSS-DRIVER, FIXED — every node label in the shared
DriverBrowseTree was an <a href="#">. In a Blazor Web App, blazor.web.js's
enhanced-navigation click interceptor resolves a bare "#" against
<base href="/">, so clicking ANY browse-tree node label navigated the whole
AdminUI to "/", tore down the circuit, and destroyed the hosting modal —
losing the browse session AND the tag selection. @onclick:preventDefault
does not help: it suppresses the browser's default action, not Blazor's own
interceptor. Labels are now <button type="button">. Dates to the component's
introduction (2026-05-28) and affects EVERY driver's picker; it surfaced
only now because choosing a rebirth scope is the first flow that requires
clicking a label rather than the ▶ toggle (always a button, always fine).
3. FIXED (mitigation) — the browse tree rendered exactly once, at open, and
never again, while OpenAsync returns as soon as the SUBSCRIBE is granted.
On Sparkplug that means it is almost always empty forever, because births
are never retained. Added a Refresh button that re-reads the root against
the SAME session (nothing reconnects, nothing observed is lost, the tag
selection is kept, only the armed rebirth scope is cleared).
Live gate result (all against the real broker + simulator, group OtOpcUaSim):
- driver authored end-to-end through the fixed MqttDriverForm; blob is
Mode:SparkplugB + Sparkplug.GroupId:OtOpcUaSim with enums as names
- browse: BROWSER OPEN chip, Sparkplug-only rebirth panel, tree renders
Group → EdgeNode → [Device] → Metric with the device folder Filler1 and
node-level metric leaves SIDE BY SIDE, and "Node Control/Rebirth" as ONE
leaf (the metric-name-is-not-a-topic-segment rule holding)
- rebirth: group scope names the group + the 32-node cap, Cancel published
NOTHING (simulator log unchanged); edge-node scope → "1 command published"
and the simulator logged "rebirth NCMD #1 received; republishing metadata";
group scope → "2 commands published", both edge nodes re-birthed; a device
and a metric both resolve UP to "edge node EdgeA"; the panel does NOT render
for a Plain MQTT device
- browse-commit wrote bindable tuples with no topic/address key —
{"groupId","edgeNodeId","metricName","deviceId"} for the device metric and
deviceId ABSENT (not blank) for the node-level one, datatypes inherited from
the birth (Int64 / Float)
- deployed (Sealed), and both nodes served live changing values through OPC UA
at the 2 s cadence — Good 0x00000000, no BadNodeIdUnknown
- death→STALE: stopping the simulator drove both nodes to 0x80000000 with an
empty value ~2 s later, and restarting it recovered them to Good on the new
birth (FillCount back to its birth-declared 1000, then counting)
- rediscovery fired exactly TWICE (once per authored scope: OtOpcUaSim/EdgeA
7 metrics, OtOpcUaSim/EdgeA/Filler1 3 metrics) and was then gated across
many subsequent births/rebirths — the anti-storm change gate working, and
EdgeB correctly filtered out as an unauthored scope
- tag editor: opens in SparkplugB (mode inference on reopen) with all four
descriptor fields populated; blank group → "A Sparkplug group ID is
required."; "Plant/1" rejected; "Node Control/Rebirth" ACCEPTED and saved
with the slash whole; dataType override persists and its key is ABSENT again
after selecting "(from birth certificate)"
Two things are NOT verified, and are recorded rather than claimed:
- Rediscovery is INERT in v3 and this is a platform gap, not an MQTT one:
nothing subscribes to IRediscoverable.OnRediscoveryNeeded and
DriverHostActor.HandleDiscoveredNodes hard-returns. A DBIRTH introducing a
metric does NOT change the OPC UA tree; redeploy. Verified from the driver's
log line only, exactly as far as it can be verified.
- A metric name containing "/" cannot be BROWSE-COMMITTED: the derived raw tag
Name is a RawPath segment and may not contain "/", so the spec-mandatory
"Node Control/Rebirth" is refused ("Row 3: Name must not contain '/'"). The
refusal is loud and all-or-nothing, never a silently mis-bound tag, and
Manual entry is the working path. Fixing it needs a name-sanitisation policy
with a collision answer, so it was recorded rather than guessed at.
Also left open + documented: an empty browse tree cannot arm a rebirth (the
scope comes from a tree click, and the session side already accepts a bare
{group}/{edgeNode} — only a UI path is missing); _canRebirth is captured at
browse-open; the tag editor injects the Plain-only payloadFormat key into a
Sparkplug blob (cosmetic — the factory routes on the tuple).
Suites: offline 1528 passed / 0 failed (581 Driver.Mqtt + 809 AdminUI + 138
Core.Abstractions); live 15/15 against the broker + simulator.
Docs: docs/drivers/Mqtt.md brought fully up to date for P2 (Sparkplug config
sub-object, both tag shapes, the ingest state machine, rediscovery, browse +
rebirth + Refresh, a Known-gaps table); Mqtt-Test-Fixture.md gains the simulator
and drops its "Sparkplug has no fixture" claims; infra/README.md §3 gains the
simulator row; CLAUDE.md gains the simulator endpoint facts; the tracking doc
marks MQTT/Sparkplug COMPLETE. docker-dev/docker-compose.mqtt.yml is the
isolated-rig overlay the gate ran on.

fix(mqtt): browse-commit writes a bindable address + a Request-rebirth affordance
Two gaps the Task 23/24 review found, both blocking Task 26's live gate.
Gap 1 — browse-commit produced a silently dead MQTT tag. RawBrowseCommitMapper
had no `Mqtt` case, so a committed leaf fell through to the generic
`{"address": …}` key. Neither MqttTagDefinitionFactory entry point reads
`address`: the tag deployed clean and reported BadNodeIdUnknown forever, with
no signal at commit time. Predates Task 23 (Plain was affected too), but Task 23
built the Sparkplug metric tree precisely so an operator could browse and commit
a binding.
The address is a DESCRIPTOR, not a reference string, and it cannot be recovered
from the browse node id: `{group}/{node}[/{device}]::{metric}` where a metric
name legitimately contains `/` (`Node Control/Rebirth`) — the ambiguity
MetricSeparator's remarks already name. So the session STATES it, via a new
`AttributeInfo.AddressFields` seam, and the mapper reads it. Which keys are
emitted is also how the mapper learns Plain vs Sparkplug — the driver type
reaching it is just `Mqtt`, and the mode lives on the driver config. Key names
are single-sourced in the new `MqttTagConfigKeys` (producer, mapper, factory),
with the literals pinned by a test so a symmetric rename cannot silently unbind
already-persisted blobs. A leaf with no stated address is refused at commit in
words rather than committed dead.
Gap 2 — RequestRebirthAsync had no UI. Task 23 shipped it backend-only; Task 26
step 1 assumes the button, and Task 25's runbook notes the picker tree stays
empty until a birth lands, so it is the only way to fill it on demand. Added to
the /raw browse modal: scope = the clicked tree node (device/metric resolve up to
their edge node, group fans out and is refused whole past 32), an explicit
two-click confirm naming the resolved scope and its consequence, the outcome or
the refusal shown rather than swallowed. Offered only for a Sparkplug session
(new `IRebirthCapableBrowseSession.RebirthAvailable` — one session class serves
both modes, so a type test alone would draw a button that can only throw) and
only to a DriverOperator; the server-side gate remains the boundary.
Tests: MQTT 545 → 581, AdminUI 781 → 800. The round-trip tests feed the emitted
blob to the REAL factory and were falsified by mutating the emitted key name.

feat(mqtt): MqttDriverForm + MqttDeviceForm — the driver/device config forms P1 omitted
The P1 live gate had to insert MQTT driver config directly via SQL: DriverConfigModal and DeviceModal both fell through to "No typed config form for driver type Mqtt" with no raw-JSON fallback, so broker host/port/TLS/credentials were unauthorable from the AdminUI. Task 12 built the *tag* editor; these are the driver + device surfaces. MqttDriverForm authors the whole MqttDriverOptions connection surface (host/port/clientId, TLS + CA pin, credentials, protocol version/clean-session/keep-alive, connect timeout, reconnect backoffs, mode, maxPayloadBytes, and the Plain sub-object). The Sparkplug sub-object stays P2 — a marked placeholder mirroring MqttTagConfigEditor's stub, with any existing sparkplug keys preserved untouched. The connection is authored on the DRIVER, not the device — unlike Modbus/S7/OpcUaClient and contrary to what docs/drivers/Mqtt.md said. DriverDeviceConfigMerger merges a device's keys up only when the driver has exactly ONE device, so a device-authored broker connection vanishes silently the moment a second device is added. MqttDeviceForm is therefore informational (the GalaxyDeviceForm shape) and round-trips DeviceConfig verbatim; it flags legacy connection keys left on a device by a pre-form deployment, because those still win via merge-up. Serialization goes through the ONE shared MqttJson.Options instance (Task 9's decision), never a fifth per-form copy — pinned by an assertion that an ordinal-only reader CANNOT bind the emitted blob, and by extending the fleet-wide DriverPageJsonConverterTests guard to resolve a form's serializer from an explicit external-instance registry when it has no _jsonOpts field. Dropping the converter from MqttJson.Options reddens 3 tests and leaves the symmetric round-trip green — the Task 9 lesson, reproduced. RawTags is stripped from the emitted blob (the deploy artifact owns it) and unknown top-level keys survive a load->save. Validation mirrors the driver's own [Range] bounds inline, and ToOptions() additionally clamps, so an ignored error still cannot persist a connectTimeoutSeconds:0 driver-brick. A non-blank clientId raises the P1 live-gate warning inline (fixed ids make redundant pair nodes evict each other while both report Healthy). AdminUI 761/761 green (was 730), TWAE-clean; Driver.Mqtt 266/266 green. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01GASWkNEi68FSCtvr6rLoEW |

docs(mqtt): P1 plain-MQTT milestone live-verified; endpoint recorded
Task 14 — the P1 milestone gate. Ran the live /run verification on a docker-dev
rig against the real Mosquitto TLS+auth fixture, and recorded the result.
The gate did its job: it found MQTT was unauthorable in production.
RawDriverTypeDialog's driver-type list is a hand-maintained array that nobody
added MQTT to, so the /raw "New driver" picker never offered it — with every
other layer (contracts, driver, browser, factory, host registration, typed tag
editor) complete and 266 green unit tests. Nothing tied that array to
DriverTypeNames and AdminUI has no bUnit, so no offline test could see it.
Fixed, plus RawDriverTypeDialogParityTests: a reflection parity guard that
fails for ANY DriverTypeNames entry missing from the picker. Verified
falsifiable — RED with "…cannot be authored from the /raw New-driver picker,
so they are unreachable in production: Mqtt" before the one-line fix.
A second gap is left OPEN and documented, not fixed (no task ever covered it):
MqttDriverForm / MqttDeviceForm do not exist, and DriverConfigModal/DeviceModal
have no raw-JSON fallback — so an operator can create an MQTT driver but cannot
author its broker endpoint or credentials. P1 is not operator-complete until
those two razor forms land. The gate authored config via SQL to get past it.
Live gate result (isolated 2-node MAIN stack, image built from this branch,
fixture at 10.100.0.35:8883, AllowUntrustedServerCertificate rather than
pinning the CA into the rig):
- typed MQTT tag editor renders and round-trips; Json shows the JSON-path
field, Raw/Scalar hide it; wildcard topic a/+/c blocked at save; data-type
list offers Float64 and no Double; qos/retainSeed absent on "(driver
default)" and qos:2 written as a number; isHistorized/historianTagname
survive a topic-only edit; SparkplugB renders the P2 placeholder and
switching back keeps Plain values; jsonPath is guidance not a gate in all
three shapes ($ seeded only for a brand-new blank tag, blank stays absent,
clearing saves fine)
- deployed, and both editor-written blobs resolved and served changing live
values through OPC UA (22.8 / 1629, StatusCode Good) — no BadNodeIdUnknown
- the bespoke #-observation browser drove a real broker session and rendered
the fixture's actual topic tree (line1/{counter,state,temperature},
noise/chatter, retained/seed); a Modbus device's picker still correctly
reports "Browsing unavailable"
Also found live and documented (not a code change): both nodes of a redundant
pair run the driver, so a FIXED clientId makes them evict each other forever —
the broker logs "already connected, closing old connection" and both nodes
reconnect every ~2s while still reporting Healthy. Unset (the default) is
correct; confirmed 0 reconnects/60s on both nodes after removing it.
Suites: offline 1134 passed / 0 failed (266 Driver.Mqtt + 730 AdminUI incl. the
3 new guards + 138 Core.Abstractions); live 7/7 against the fixture.
Docs: new docs/drivers/Mqtt.md + Mqtt-Test-Fixture.md (the per-driver + fixture
convention every other driver follows), MQTT rows in docs/drivers/README.md,
TestConnectProbes.md, root README.md, and infra/README.md §3.
CLAUDE.md drift corrected while adding the MQTT endpoints:
- the "every fixture carries project: lmxopcua" claim was false — only the
MQTT fixture does; the filter returns one stack, not the fleet
- lmxopcua-fix.ps1 is Windows-VM-only; on macOS drive the host over ssh/rsync
(and the docker-dev rig itself runs locally under OrbStack)

HistorianGateway is now the sole historian backend (read + alarm SendEvent + continuous WriteLiveValues). Document the final state and retire the Wonderware sidecar from the docs/config/labels: - CLAUDE.md: rewrite the Historian section — ServerHistorian / ContinuousHistorization / AlarmHistorian config keys, the IHistorianProvisioning EnsureTags hook, the GatewayAlarmHistorianWriter SendEvent path + ReadEvents dependency on gateway RuntimeDb:EventReadsEnabled=true, gateway-side prerequisites (RuntimeDb flags + historian:read/write/tags:write scopes), migration note, and two KNOWN-LIMITATION callouts (live-validation gate + empty historized-ref-set recorder follow-on). - appsettings.json: fix the stale ServerHistorian block (Host/Port/SharedSecret/ ServerCertThumbprint -> Endpoint/ApiKey/UseTls/AllowUntrustedServerCertificate/ CaCertificatePath/CallTimeout, keep MaxTieClusterOverfetch); add a disabled ContinuousHistorization block; prune the orphaned Wonderware keys from AlarmHistorian (keep the SQLite knobs). ApiKey env-supplied via ServerHistorian__ApiKey (commented; valid strict JSON via _comment keys). - README.md + docs (Historian.md, AlarmHistorian.md, Configuration.md, ServiceHosting.md, DriverLifecycle.md, drivers/README.md, Uns.md, VirtualTags.md, AlarmTracking.md, Client.UI.md, README.md, TestConnectProbes.md): retire the Wonderware historian backend from current-backend descriptions; fix the stale ServerHistorian/AlarmHistorian config tables (now gateway shape); convert drivers/Historian.Wonderware.md to a retired stub pointing at the gateway. - Source/UI labels (descriptive text only, no behavior change): OtOpcUaServerHostedService.cs, HistoryPaging.cs, OtOpcUaSdkServer.cs, HistorianAdapterActor.cs, VirtualTagModal.razor, ScriptedAlarmModal.razor, AlarmsHistorian.razor now name the HistorianGateway backend. feat(focas): real FANUC 30i/31i-B PDU-v3 support (live-validated on a 31i-B)
First real FOCAS hardware contact (Makino Pro 5 / 31i-B @ 10.201.31.5). A full
v3 data-PDU capture corrected the initial diagnosis: the v3 block envelope is
identical to v1, so only specific payload structs / request math / one client
robustness gap were wrong — not "framing rewrites".
Fixes (all re-validated live through the fixed driver):
- version gate: accept inbound PDU {1,3}, keep emitting v1 (FocasWireProtocol).
- cnc_rdtimer: 8-byte {minute,msec} payload is little-endian (ParseTimer) — the
only decode with an in-range msec field.
- pmc_rdpmcrng: request range widened to the data-type byte width
(end = start + width - 1) so a Word/Long isn't truncated to 0 values
(was spurious BadOutOfRange); decode extracted to ParsePmcRange.
- cnc_rdsvmeter: per-axis LOADELM is 8 bytes (not 12) and names come from the
0x0089 block — ParseServoMeters fixes the misaligned 655360 garbage. Also the
"hang" was NetworkStream.ReadAsync not aborting a stalled socket: ReadExactlyAsync
now disposes the stream on cancellation so a stalled peer can't wedge a poll loop.
- cnc_rddynamic2: contract guard rejecting axis < 1 (driver poll already 1-based).
- FocasDriverProbe: run a real wire session (initiate + cnc_statinfo) instead of
degrading to Ok=true "TCP reachability only" when FWLIB is absent — a bare TCP
listener no longer reports HEALTHY.
cnc_rdparam (0x000e) is unsupported on this control — EW_FUNC across 14
request-framing variants x 4 known-present params; needs a reference FWLIB trace
or is restricted. Deferred (deployed config uses macros, not parameters).
Tests: FOCAS suite 234 green (+16), full solution builds 0 errors. Raw v3
captures checked in under tests/.../Fixtures/v3/. Capture tools under scripts/focas/.

Two bugs caught by live verification against the mxaccessgw at 10.100.0.48:5120: - MaxAttempts=1 produced an invalid Polly RetryStrategyOptions -> the probe failed on every real gateway. Removed the Retry override (matches GalaxyDriver); fail-fast is already guaranteed by the TCP preflight + the per-call deadline. - A rejected key surfaces as a typed MxGatewayAuthenticationException, not a raw RpcException, so 'auth-rejection = reachable' was bypassed. Catch the typed auth/ authorization exceptions -> Ok=true. Adds DriverProbeHandshakeE2eTests: direct-probe, skip-gated cross-protocol green/red discrimination (Modbus, OpcUaClient, Galaxy + a local real OPC UA server). |

docs(audit): OpcUaClient-Test-Fixture.md — accuracy pass
STALE-STATUS (OpcPlcFixture.cs:39):
- "What the fixture is": opc.tcp://localhost:50000 → opc.tcp://10.100.0.35:50000
(shared Docker host migrated 2026-04-28; fixture already defaults to 10.100.0.35)
CODE-REALITY (OpcUaClientSmokeTests.cs — 3 integration tests open real Secure Channels):
- "What it does NOT cover" §1 ("No UA Secure Channel is ever opened") was wrong
for the integration suite which does open real channels. Rewritten to scope the
no-Secure-Channel claim to the unit suite and list what the integration suite
still doesn't exercise (non-anonymous security policies, signing/encryption,
chunk assembly, keep-alive).
- "When to trust" table: added Integration (opc-plc) column; noted that real OPC UA
read + subscribe ARE covered by integration tests; write not yet exercised on wire.
NOTE on IRediscoverable: OpcUaClientDriver does NOT implement IRediscoverable
(verified: no reference in src/Drivers/ZB.MOM.WW.OtOpcUa.Driver.OpcUaClient/).
Doc makes no such claim — no change needed for that aspect.
INLINE COMPLETENESS:
- "Key fixture / config files": added OpcPlcFixture.cs, OpcUaClientSmokeTests.cs,
and Docker/docker-compose.yml entries with correct endpoints and flags.
- Added explicit note in OpcUaClientDriver.cs entry: implements IAlarmSource +
IHistoryProvider (unique among drivers); does NOT implement IRediscoverable.

VERIFY: check_links.py — 0 rows for OpcUaClient-Test-Fixture.md.

docs(audit): S7-Test-Fixture.md — accuracy pass
STALE-STATUS (Snap7ServerFixture.cs:40):
- TL;DR + "What the fixture is": localhost:1102 → 10.100.0.35:1102 (shared
Docker host migrated 2026-04-28; fixture already defaults to 10.100.0.35)
CODE-REALITY (S7_1500SmokeTests.cs exists and sends real S7comm):
- "What it does NOT cover" §1 ("No ISO-on-TCP frame is ever sent") was
simply wrong — the integration suite DOES send real S7comm. Rewritten
to clarify that the unit suite uses IS7Client fakes while the integration
suite exercises the full wire path.
- "What it does NOT cover" §2 ("successful read not tested end-to-end")
was also wrong — Driver_reads_seeded_u16_through_real_S7comm does exactly
that. Rewritten to scope the error-branch-only claim to unit tests.
- "When to trust" table: added Integration (python-snap7) column reflecting
what the existing S7_1500SmokeTests actually answer.
- "Follow-up candidates" §1: removed the suggestion to build a Snap7 server
fixture — python-snap7 fixture (task #216) already ships. Follow-ups now
correctly list Plcsim Advanced and real lab rig only.
INLINE COMPLETENESS:
- "Key fixture / config files": was missing all integration test artefacts.
Added Snap7ServerFixture.cs, S7_1500SmokeTests.cs, Docker/docker-compose.yml,
and Docker/profiles/s7_1500.json with descriptions matching file contents.
STRUCTURAL: no broken links in links-report.md for this doc.

docs(audit): AbLegacy-Test-Fixture.md — accuracy pass
STALE-STATUS: TL;DR claimed "Wire-level round-trip against ab_server PCCC
mode currently fails with BadCommunicationError on read/write (verified
2026-04-20)." Docker/README.md §Known limitations explicitly states the
root cause was ab_server's empty-CIP-path gate, not a pccc.c gap, and that
N/F/L files round-trip cleanly with the /1,0 path. AbLegacyReadSmokeTests.cs
confirms tests pass against the fixture. Rewrote TL;DR + What-the-fixture-is
opening to reflect current passing state; residual gap is only B3 bit-file
writes (0x803D0000).
STALE-STATUS: Lifecycle probe listed as localhost:44818.
AbLegacyServerFixture.cs:57,119 default is 10.100.0.35:44818 (shared Docker
host, migrated 2026-04-28). Fixed.
INLINE COMPLETENESS: Follow-up item 1 phrased as future work ("smoke suite

and narrowed the remaining action to the bit-file write gap.

STRUCTURAL: links-report.md row — path MISSING src/tools/ab_server/. ab_server is not in this repo; it lives in the upstream libplctag/libplctag GitHub repo and is cloned + built inside Docker/Dockerfile. Rewrote Binary bullet to describe it as an external upstream source (no local path reference that fails the link checker). STALE-STATUS: Lifecycle TCP-probe host was listed as 127.0.0.1:44818 (AbServer-Test-Fixture.md:21). AbServerFixture.cs:35,72 default is 10.100.0.35:44818 (shared Docker host, migrated 2026-04-28). Fixed. CODE-REALITY: Micro800 profile Notes quoted "ab_server has no --plc micro800 — falls back to controllogix emulation." Incorrect: Docker/docker-compose.yml micro800 service uses --plc=Micro800; AbServerProfile.cs:49 confirms "--plc=Micro800 mode (unconnected-only, empty path)." docs(audit): drivers/README.md — capability matrix + link fixes
CODE-REALITY (matrix corrected against driver class declarations):
- Galaxy: GalaxyDriver.cs:38-39 implements IDriver, ITagDiscovery,
IReadable, IWritable, ISubscribable, IRediscoverable,
IHostConnectivityProbe, IAlarmSource. Removed the bogus
IHistoryProvider (no IHistoryProvider refs anywhere in the Galaxy
project); added the missing IRediscoverable. Replaced the stale
out-of-process Host/Proxy/named-pipe quirk + the dead
`Driver.Galaxy.{Shared,Host,Proxy}` path: per CLAUDE.md PR 7.2 those
retired; the real driver is in-process .NET 10 over gRPC to the
external mxaccessgw gateway (GalaxyDriver.cs:20-21 doc comment).
Project path corrected to Driver.Galaxy (+ .Browser, .Contracts).
- Modbus: ModbusDriver.cs:21-22 — added missing IPerCallHostResolver.
- FOCAS: FocasDriver.cs:20-21 — added missing IWritable (it IS
implemented; WriteAsync returns BadNotWritable for every point,
FocasDriver.cs:317).
- S7 (S7Driver.cs:31-32), AbCip (AbCipDriver.cs:27-28),
AbLegacy (AbLegacyDriver.cs:13-14, no IAlarmSource confirmed),
TwinCAT (TwinCATDriver.cs:13-14), OpcUaClient
(OpcUaClientDriver.cs:31) verified — already correct.
- Added the 9th family Historian.Wonderware as a server-side historian
sink (HistorianDataSource.cs:19 `: IHistorianDataSource`), and added
IHistorianDataSource to the capability-interface list.
- Clarified OpcUaClient as the only driver-side IHistoryProvider; fixed
the HistoricalDataAccess cross-ref accordingly (the Aveva Historian
path is the Wonderware IHistorianDataSource sink, not a Galaxy
IHistoryProvider).
- Added an alarm-source roster to the AlarmTracking cross-ref.
STRUCTURAL (4 dead links repointed to the docs/v1 archive, all verified
to exist):
- ../HistoricalDataAccess.md -> ../v1/HistoricalDataAccess.md (x2)
- ../Subscriptions.md -> ../v1/Subscriptions.md
- Galaxy-Repository.md -> ../v1/drivers/Galaxy-Repository.md
- Galaxy-Test-Fixture.md -> ../v1/drivers/Galaxy-Test-Fixture.md
check_links.py now reports zero rows for docs/drivers/README.md.
STALE-STATUS: removed out-of-process/named-pipe Galaxy wording; noted
native MxAccess alarms work end-to-end; dropped the FOCAS "Tier-C
two-project deployment" phrasing from the per-driver section.

docs(audit): drivers/FOCAS-Test-Fixture.md — accuracy pass
STRUCTURAL - docs/drivers/FOCAS-Test-Fixture.md line 140: replaced stale `Series/FixedTreePopulatesTests.cs` reference (file deleted) with `Series/WireBackendTests.cs` — the current home of all fixed-tree end-to-end integration tests (verified: ls Series/ shows only WireBackendTests.cs + WireBackendCoverageTests.cs). STALE-STATUS - Removed `**Status:** as of 2026-04-24` header (date-anchored, stale). The architecture description that followed was accurate; the date anchor served no purpose once the shim era is closed. CODE-REALITY - Line 55: TCP-probe skip gate now mentions `OTOPCUA_FOCAS_SIM_ENDPOINT` override (verified in FocasSimFixture.cs line 22 / 49). FOCAS.md: no changes — all claims verified accurate against source. - IAlarmSource implemented: FocasDriver.cs:21 - IWritable returns BadNotWritable: FocasDriver.cs (IWritable body) - All capability interfaces listed in capability table confirmed in FocasDriver.cs:21 class declaration - All linked files exist and resolve correctly |

docs(audit): drivers/Galaxy.md — interface list + accuracy pass
CODE-REALITY (known defect): the capability-surface declaration line omitted IAlarmSource and IAsyncDisposable. GalaxyDriver.cs:39 actually declares: IDriver, ITagDiscovery, IReadable, IWritable, ISubscribable, IRediscoverable, IHostConnectivityProbe, IAlarmSource, IDisposable, IAsyncDisposable. Doc line corrected to match exactly, and an IAlarmSource row added to the capability table (Runtime/GatewayGalaxyAlarmFeed.cs + Runtime/GatewayGalaxyAlarmAcknowledger.cs). STALE-STATUS: the v1-doc move note claimed Galaxy-Repository.md / Galaxy-Test-Fixture.md 'are being moved to docs/v1/ by a parallel cleanup track' — that move is complete; they live at docs/v1/drivers/. Rewrote to present tense and linked the real targets. Verified against source: deploy-watch is a gRPC stream (GatewayGalaxyDeployWatchSource forwards WatchDeployEventsAsync via GalaxyRepositoryClient, not a direct DB poll); contained-name<->tag-name translation (GalaxyDiscoverer.cs:49,60); DataTypeMap at Browse/DataTypeMap.cs; IGalaxyHierarchySource / IGalaxyDeployWatchSource / DeployWatcher all present. check_links.py: zero rows for docs/drivers/Galaxy.md. |

docs: alarms-over-gateway completion banner + AlarmTracking v2 (PR B.5)
Sixteenth PR of the alarms-over-gateway epic (docs/plans/alarms-over-gateway.md). Closes the documentation sweep the plan calls for. - docs/AlarmTracking.md — promoted top-level v2-final architecture doc (was a worktree-only draft pre-epic). Covers the three alarm sources (Galaxy MxAccess driver-native / Galaxy sub-attribute fallback / scripted alarms), how they converge on AlarmConditionService, the Acknowledge routing decision in DriverNodeManager (driver-native preferred over IWritable sub-attribute fallback), the sidecar historian write-back path for non-Galaxy producers, and cross-references to the plan + v1 archive. - docs/v1/AlarmTracking.md — banner pointing readers at the v2 doc; preserved as historical record. - docs/drivers/Galaxy.md — capability list updated to include IAlarmSource (now eight capabilities, restored by B.2). Replaced the "IAlarmSource retired in 7.2" sentence with the restoration note + cross-link to docs/AlarmTracking.md. - docs/plans/alarms-over-gateway.md — completion banner at the top of the plan, marking 14 of 16 PRs shipped 2026-04-30 and noting that A.2 + A.4 + D.1 are the hardware-gated follow-up. Memory entries updated separately: - project_alarms_over_gateway_epic.md (new) — epic summary + per-PR digest. - project_galaxy_via_mxgateway.md — added "Alarms restored" bullet pointing at the new architecture. - project_server_history_alarm_subsystems.md — bullet 2 updated to describe the new ack-routing decision (B.3) + bullet 3 added describing the historian write-back path that B.4 + C.1 + C.2 light up. - MEMORY.md index — new pointer entry. docs: post-PR-7.2 cleanup — audit + three-track scrub
Audit (three parallel agent passes) found 43 markdown files carrying stale references to the deleted Galaxy.Host/Proxy/Shared projects after the v2-mxgw merge. This commit lands the prioritized fixes. Track 1 — high-traffic in-place rewrites (3 files, ~454 lines deleted) - README.md (202 → 91 lines): drops .NET 4.8 / x86 / TopShelf install text; leads with the multi-driver .NET 10 server identity and points at scripts/install/Install-Services.ps1 and the parity rig. - docs/v2/driver-specs.md §1 Galaxy (~289 → ~66 lines): replaces the Tier-C out-of-process spec with a Tier-A in-process description matching the current GalaxyDriver code, with the four-section GalaxyDriverOptions JSON shape pulled verbatim from Config/GalaxyDriverOptions.cs. - docs/drivers/Galaxy.md (211 → 92 lines): full rewrite around the current Browse/Runtime/Health/Config sub-folders. Track 2 — historical banners (5 files) - lmx_mxgw.md, lmx_mxgw_impl.md, lmx_backend.md, docs/v2/Galaxy.ParityMatrix.md, docs/v2/implementation/phase-2-galaxy-out-of-process.md each get a "✅ Completed 2026-04-30 — historical record" banner block. lmx_mxgw.md also fixes two dead links (`docs/Galaxy.Driver.md` and `docs/v2/Galaxy.Driver.md`) → `docs/drivers/Galaxy.md`. Track 3 — v1 archive sweep (10 git mv + 1 new index + 2 in-place scrubs) - Moved 10 v1 docs under docs/v1/ preserving subpath structure: AlarmTracking, Configuration, DataTypeMapping, HistoricalDataAccess, Subscriptions (top-level); drivers/Galaxy-Repository, drivers/Galaxy-Test-Fixture; reqs/GalaxyRepositoryReqs, reqs/MxAccessClientReqs, reqs/ServiceHostReqs. - New docs/v1/README.md is the shared archive banner + per-file table. - docs/README.md repointed to the v1 paths and updated to reflect the v2 two-process deploy shape (Server + Admin + optional OtOpcUaWonderwareHistorian). - docs/v2/Galaxy.ParityRig.md got a historical banner + four inline scrubs marking the OtOpcUaGalaxyHost service / Driver.Galaxy.Host EXE / Driver.Galaxy.ParityTests project as deleted-in-PR-7.2. The repo's live-reading surface (README + CLAUDE.md + docs/v2/) now describes only the post-PR-7.2 architecture. v1 docs are preserved as a labelled archive under docs/v1/. Galaxy IPC unblock — live dev-box E2E path
Three root-cause fixes to get an elevated dev-box shell past session open through to real MXAccess reads: 1. PipeAcl — drop BUILTIN\Administrators deny ACE. UAC's filtered token carries the Admins SID as deny-only, so the deny fired even from non-elevated admin-account shells. The per-connection SID check in PipeServer.VerifyCaller remains the real authorization boundary. 2. PipeServer — swap the Hello-read / VerifyCaller order. ImpersonateNamedPipeClient returns ERROR_CANNOT_IMPERSONATE until at least one frame has been read from the pipe; reading Hello first satisfies that rule. Previously the ACL deny-first path masked this race — removing the deny ACE exposed it. 3. GalaxyIpcClient — add a background reader + single pending-response slot. A RuntimeStatusChange event between OpenSessionRequest and OpenSessionResponse used to satisfy the caller's single ReadFrameAsync and fail CallAsync with "Expected OpenSessionResponse, got RuntimeStatusChange". The reader now routes response kinds (and ErrorResponse) to the pending TCS and everything else to a handler the driver registers in InitializeAsync. The Proxy was already set up to raise managed events from RaiseDataChange / RaiseAlarmEvent / OnHostConnectivityUpdate — those helpers had no caller until now. 4. RedundancyPublisherHostedService — swallow BadServerHalted while polling host.Server.CurrentInstance. StandardServer throws that code during startup rather than returning null, so the first poll attempt crashed the BackgroundService (and the host) before OnServerStarted ran. This race was latent behind the Galaxy init failure above. Updates docs that described the Admins deny ACE + mandatory non-elevated shells, and drops the admin-skip guards from every Galaxy integration + E2E fixture that had them (IpcHandshakeIntegrationTests, EndToEndIpcTests, ParityFixture, LiveStackFixture, HostSubprocessParityTests). Adds GalaxyIpcClientRoutingTests covering the router's request/response match, ErrorResponse, event-between-call, idle event, and peer-close paths. Verified live on the dev box against the p7-smoke cluster (gen 6): driver registered=1 failedInit=0, Phase 7 bridge subscribed, OPC UA server up on 4840, MXAccess read round-trip returns real data with Status=0x00000000. Task #112 — partial: Galaxy live stack is functional end-to-end. The supplied test-galaxy.ps1 script still fails because the UNS walker encodes TagConfig JSON as the tag's NodeId instead of the seeded TagId (pre-existing; separate issue from this commit). FOCAS — retire Tier-C split, inline managed wire client, make read-only
Migration closes the FOCAS Tier-C architecture. OtOpcUa previously had
`Driver.FOCAS.Host` (NSSM-wrapped Windows service loading Fwlib64.dll via
P/Invoke) + `Driver.FOCAS.Shared` (MessagePack IPC contracts) + a C shim
DLL stand-in for unit tests. All of it is deleted; the driver is now a
single in-process managed assembly talking the FOCAS/2 Ethernet binary
protocol directly on TCP:8193.
Architecture
- Pure-managed `FocasWireClient` inlined at `src/.../Driver.FOCAS/Wire/`
(owner-imported — see Wire/FocasWireClient.cs for the full surface).
Opens two TCP sockets, runs the initiate handshake, serialises requests
on socket 2 through a semaphore, closes cleanly with PDU + socket
teardown. Both sync `IDisposable` and async `IAsyncDisposable`.
- `WireFocasClient` (same folder) adapts the wire client to OtOpcUa's
`IFocasClient` surface — fixed-tree reads, PARAM/MACRO/PMC addresses,
alarms. Writes return `BadNotWritable` by design — OtOpcUa is read-only
against FOCAS.
- `FocasDriverFactoryExtensions` now accepts `"Backend": "wire"` (default)
and `"Backend": "unimplemented"`. Legacy `ipc` and `fwlib` backends are
rejected at startup with a diagnostic pointing at the migration doc.
Deletions
- `src/ZB.MOM.WW.OtOpcUa.Driver.FOCAS.Host/` — whole project + Ipc/,
Backend/, Stability/, Program.cs.
- `src/ZB.MOM.WW.OtOpcUa.Driver.FOCAS.Shared/` — Contracts/, FrameReader,
FrameWriter, whole project.
- `tests/...Driver.FOCAS.Host.Tests/` + `.Shared.Tests/` — whole projects.
- `src/.../Driver.FOCAS/FwlibNative.cs` + `FwlibFocasClient.cs` — 21
P/Invokes + 7 `Pack=1` marshalling structs + the Fwlib-backed
`IFocasClient` implementation.
- `src/.../Driver.FOCAS/Ipc/` + `Supervisor/` — IPC client wrapper +
Host-process supervisor (backoff, circuit breaker, heartbeat, post-
mortem reader, process launcher).
- `scripts/install/Install-FocasHost.ps1` — NSSM service installer.
- `tests/.../Driver.FOCAS.Tests/{IpcFocasClientTests, IpcLoopback,
FwlibNativeHelperTests, PostMortemReaderCompatibilityTests,
SupervisorTests, FocasDriverFactoryExtensionsTests}.cs` — tests that
exercised the retired surfaces.
- `tests/.../Driver.FOCAS.IntegrationTests/Shim/` — the zig-built C shim
DLL that masqueraded as Fwlib64.dll.
Solution changes
- `ZB.MOM.WW.OtOpcUa.slnx` drops the 4 retired project refs.
- `src/.../Driver.FOCAS.csproj` drops the Shared ProjectReference, adds
`Microsoft.Extensions.Logging.Abstractions` for the optional `ILogger`
hook in `FocasWireClient`.
- `src/.../Driver.FOCAS.Cli.csproj` drops the six `<Content Include>`
entries that copied `vendor/fanuc/*.dll` into the CLI bin. CLI now uses
`WireFocasClient` directly.
- `FocasDriver` default factory flips to `Wire.WireFocasClientFactory`.
Integration tests
- New `tests/.../Driver.FOCAS.IntegrationTests/` project covering fixed-
tree reads (identity, axes, dynamic, program, operation mode, timers,
spindle load + max RPM, servo meters), user-authored PARAM / MACRO /
PMC reads, `DiscoverAsync` emission, `SubscribeAsync` + `OnDataChange`,
`IAlarmSource` raise/clear transitions, and `ProbeAsync` /
`OnHostStatusChanged`. 9 e2e tests against the focas-mock fixture
(Docker container with the vendored Python mock's native FOCAS/2
Ethernet responder).
- `scripts/integration/run-focas.ps1` orchestrates compose up → tests →
compose down. Dropped the shim-build stage + DLL-copy step + the split
testhost workaround (the latter only existed because of native-DLL
lifecycle bugs the shim tripped).
- Docker compose collapses from 11 per-series services to one `focas-sim`
service. Tests seed per-series state via `mock_load_profile` at test
start.
- Vendored focas-mock snapshot refreshed to pick up upstream's native
FOCAS/2 Ethernet responder (was 660 lines, now 1018) — the
pre-refresh snapshot only spoke the JSON admin protocol.
Tests
- 145/145 unit tests in `Driver.FOCAS.Tests` pass (was 208 pre-deletion;
63 removed tests exercised the retired IPC/shim/supervisor/Fwlib
surfaces).
- 9/9 integration tests pass against the refreshed mock.
- `FocasScaffoldingTests.Unimplemented_factory_throws_on_Create…` updated
to assert the new diagnostic message pointing at
`docs/drivers/FOCAS.md` rather than the now-gone `Fwlib64.dll`.
Docs
- `docs/drivers/FOCAS.md` rewritten for the managed wire topology —
deployment collapses to one `"Backend": "wire"` config block, no
separate service, no DLL deployment, no pipe ACL.
- `docs/drivers/FOCAS-Test-Fixture.md` updated — single TCP probe skip
gate instead of TCP + shim probe; fewer moving parts.
- `docs/drivers/README.md` row for FOCAS reflects the Tier-A managed
topology (previously listed Tier-C + `Fwlib64.dll` P/Invoke).
- `docs/Driver.FOCAS.Cli.md` drops the Tier-C architecture-note section.
- `docs/v2/implementation/focas-isolation-plan.md` marked historical —
the plan it documents was executed then superseded by the wire client.
- `docs/v2/v2-release-readiness.md` re-audited 2026-04-24. Phase 5
driver complement closed. FOCAS change-log entry added.

Docs audit — fill gaps so the top-level docs/ reference matches shipped code
Audit of docs/ against src/ surfaced shipped features without current-reference coverage (FOCAS CLI, Core.Scripting+VirtualTags, Core.ScriptedAlarms, Core.AlarmHistorian), an out-of-date driver count + capability matrix, ADR-002's virtual-tag dispatch not reflected in data-path docs, broken cross-references, and OpcUaServerReqs declaring OPC-020..022 that were never scoped. This commit closes all of those so operators + integrators can stay inside docs/ without falling back to v2/implementation/. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Task #222 partial — unblock AB Legacy PCCC via cip-path workaround (5/5 stages)
Replaced the "ab_server PCCC upstream-broken" skip gate with the actual
root cause: libplctag's ab_server rejects empty CIP routing paths at the
unconnected-send layer before the PCCC dispatcher runs. Real SLC/
MicroLogix/PLC-5 hardware accepts empty paths (no backplane); ab_server
does not. With `/1,0` in place, N (Int16), F (Float32), and L (Int32)
file reads + writes round-trip cleanly across all three compose profiles.
## Fixture changes
- `AbLegacyServerFixture.cs`:
- Drop `AB_LEGACY_TRUST_WIRE` env var + the reachable-but-untrusted
skip branch. Fixture now only skips on TCP unreachability.
- Add `AB_LEGACY_CIP_PATH` env var (default `1,0`) + expose `CipPath`
property. Set `AB_LEGACY_CIP_PATH=` (empty) against real hardware.
- Shorter skip messages on the `[AbLegacyFact]` / `[AbLegacyTheory]`
attributes — one reason: endpoint not reachable.
- `AbLegacyReadSmokeTests.cs`:
- Device URI built from `sim.CipPath` instead of hardcoded empty path.
- New `AB_LEGACY_COMPOSE_PROFILE` env var filters the parametric
theory to the running container's family. Only one container binds
`:44818` at a time, so cross-family params would otherwise fail.
- `Slc500_write_then_read_round_trip` skips cleanly when the running
profile isn't `slc500`.
## E2E + seed + docs
- `scripts/e2e/test-ablegacy.ps1` — drop the `AB_LEGACY_TRUST_WIRE`
skip gate; synopsis calls out the `/1,0` vs empty cip-path split
between the Docker fixture and real hardware.
- `scripts/e2e/e2e-config.sample.json` — sample gateway flipped from
the hardware placeholder (`192.168.1.10`) to the Docker fixture
(`127.0.0.1/1,0`); comment rewritten.
- `scripts/e2e/README.md` — AB Legacy expected-matrix row goes from
SKIP to PASS.
- `scripts/smoke/seed-ablegacy-smoke.sql` — default HostAddress points
at the Docker fixture + header / footer text reflect the new state.
- `tests/.../Docker/README.md` — "Known limitations" section rewritten
to describe the cip-path gate (not a dispatcher gap); env-var table
picks up `AB_LEGACY_CIP_PATH` + `AB_LEGACY_COMPOSE_PROFILE`.
- `docs/drivers/AbLegacy-Test-Fixture.md` + `docs/drivers/README.md`
+ `docs/DriverClis.md` — flip status from blocked to functional;
residual bit-file-write gap (B3:0/5 → 0x803D0000) documented.
## Residual gap
Bit-file writes (`B3:0/5` style) surface `0x803D0000` against
`ab_server --plc=SLC500`; bit reads work. Non-blocking for smoke
coverage — N/F/L round-trip is enough. Real hardware / RSEmulate 500
for bit-write fidelity. Documented in `Docker/README.md` §"Known
limitations" + the `AbLegacy-Test-Fixture.md` follow-ups list.
## Verified
- Full-solution build: 0 errors, 334 pre-existing warnings.
- Integration suite passes per-profile with
`AB_LEGACY_COMPOSE_PROFILE=<slc500|micrologix|plc5>` + matching
compose container up.
- All four non-hardware e2e scripts (Modbus / AB CIP / AB Legacy / S7)
now 5/5 against the respective docker-compose fixtures.

Modbus exception-injection profile — closes the end-to-end test gap for exception codes 0x01/0x03/0x04/0x05/0x06/0x0A/0x0B. pymodbus simulator naturally emits only 0x02 (Illegal Data Address on reads outside configured ranges) + 0x03 (Illegal Data Value on over-length); the driver's MapModbusExceptionToStatus table translates eight codes, but only 0x02 had integration-level coverage (via DL205's unmapped-register test). Unit tests lock the translation function in isolation but an integration test was missing for everything else. This PR lands wire-level coverage for the remaining seven codes without depending on device-specific quirks to naturally produce them.
New exception_injector.py — standalone pure-Python-stdlib Modbus/TCP server shipped alongside the pymodbus image. Speaks the wire protocol directly (MBAP header parse + FC 01/02/03/04/05/06/15/16 dispatch + store-backed happy-path reads/writes + spec-enforced length caps) and looks up each (fc, starting-address) against a rules list loaded from JSON; a matching rule makes the server respond [fc|0x80, exception_code] instead of the normal response. Zero runtime dependencies outside the stdlib — the Dockerfile just COPY's the script into /fixtures/ alongside the pymodbus profile JSONs, no new pip install needed. ~200 lines. New exception_injection.json profile carries rules for every exception code on FC03 (addresses 1000-1007, one per code), FC06 (2000-2001 for CPU-PROGRAM-mode and busy), and FC16 (3000 for server failure). New exception_injection compose profile binds :5020 like every other service + runs python /fixtures/exception_injector.py --config /fixtures/exception_injection.json. New ExceptionInjectionTests.cs in Modbus.IntegrationTests — 11 tests. Eight FC03-read theories exercise every exception code 0x01/0x02/0x03/0x04/0x05/0x06/0x0A/0x0B asserting the driver's expected OPC UA StatusCode mapping (BadNotSupported/BadOutOfRange/BadOutOfRange/BadDeviceFailure/BadDeviceFailure/BadDeviceFailure/BadCommunicationError/BadCommunicationError). Two FC06-write theories cover the write path for 0x04 (Server Failure, CPU in PROGRAM mode) + 0x06 (Server Busy). One sanity-check read at address 5 confirms the injector isn't globally broken + non-injected reads round-trip cleanly with Value=5/StatusCode=Good. All tests follow the MODBUS_SIM_PROFILE=exception_injection skip guard so they no-op on a fresh clone without Docker running. Docker/README.md gains an §Exception injection section explaining what pymodbus can and cannot emit, what the injector does, where the rules live, and how to append new ones. docs/drivers/Modbus-Test-Fixture.md follow-up item #2 (extend pymodbus profiles to inject exceptions) gets a shipped strikethrough with the new coverage inventory; the unit-level section adds ExceptionInjectionTests next to DL205ExceptionCodeTests so the split-of-responsibilities is explicit (DL205 test = natural out-of-range via dl205 profile, ExceptionInjectionTests = every other code via the injector). Test baselines: Modbus unit 182/182 green (unchanged); Modbus integration with exception_injection profile live 11/11 new tests green. Existing DL205/S7/Mitsubishi integration tests unaffected since they skip on MODBUS_SIM_PROFILE mismatch. Found + fixed during validation: a stale native pymodbus simulator from April 18 was still listening on port 5020 on IPv6 localhost (Windows was load-balancing between it + the Docker IPv4 forward, making injected exceptions intermittently come back as pymodbus's default 0x02). Killed the leftover. Documented the debugging path in the commit as a note for anyone who hits the same "my tests see exception 0x02 but the injector log has no request" symptom. FOCAS Tier-C PR E — ops glue: ProcessHostLauncher + post-mortem MMF + NSSM install scripts + doc close-out. Final of the 5 PRs for #220. With this landing, the Tier-C architecture is fully shipped; the only remaining FOCAS work is the hardware-dependent FwlibHostedBackend (real Fwlib32.dll P/Invoke, gated on #222 lab rig).
Production IHostProcessLauncher (ProcessHostLauncher.cs): Process.Start spawns OtOpcUa.Driver.FOCAS.Host.exe with OTOPCUA_FOCAS_PIPE / OTOPCUA_ALLOWED_SID / OTOPCUA_FOCAS_SECRET / OTOPCUA_FOCAS_BACKEND in the environment (supervisor-owned, never disk), polls FocasIpcClient.ConnectAsync at 250ms cadence until the pipe is up or the Host exits or the ConnectTimeout deadline passes, then wraps the connected client in an IpcFocasClient. TerminateAsync kills the entire process tree + disposes the IPC stream. ProcessHostLauncherOptions carries HostExePath + PipeName + AllowedSid plus optional SharedSecret (auto-generated from a GUID when omitted so install scripts don't have to), Arguments, Backend (fwlib32/fake/unconfigured default-unconfigured), ConnectTimeout (15s), and Series for CNC pre-flight. Post-mortem MMF (Host/Stability/PostMortemMmf.cs + Proxy/Supervisor/PostMortemReader.cs): ring-buffer of the last ~1000 IPC operations written by the Host into a memory-mapped file. On a Host crash the supervisor reads the MMF — which survives process death — to see what was in flight. File format: 16-byte header [magic 'OFPC' (0x4F465043) | version | capacity | writeIndex] + N × 256-byte entries [8-byte UTC unix ms | 8-byte opKind | 240-byte UTF-8 message + null terminator]. Magic distinguishes FOCAS MMFs from the Galaxy MMFs that ship the same format shape. Writer is single-producer (Host) with a lock_writeGate; reader is multi-consumer (Proxy + any diagnostic tool) using a separate MemoryMappedFile handle. NSSM install wrappers (scripts/install/Install-FocasHost.ps1 + Uninstall-FocasHost.ps1): idempotent service registration for OtOpcUaFocasHost. Resolves SID from the ServiceAccount, generates a fresh shared secret per install if not supplied, stages OTOPCUA_FOCAS_PIPE/SID/SECRET/BACKEND in AppEnvironmentExtra so they never hit disk, rotates 10MB stdout/stderr logs under %ProgramData%\OtOpcUa, DependOnService=OtOpcUa so startup order is deterministic. Backend selector defaults to unconfigured so a fresh install doesn't accidentally load a half-configured Fwlib32.dll on first start. Tests (7 new, 2 files): PostMortemMmfTests.cs in FOCAS.Host.Tests — round-trip write+read preserves order + content, ring-buffer wraps at capacity (writes 10 entries to a 3-slot buffer, asserts only op-7/8/9 survive in FIFO order), message truncation at the 240-byte cap is null-terminated + non-overflowing, reopening an existing file preserves entries. PostMortemReaderCompatibilityTests.cs in FOCAS.Tests — hand-writes a file in the exact host format (magic/entry layout) + asserts the Proxy reader decodes with correct ring-walk ordering when writeIndex != 0, empty-return on missing file + magic mismatch. Keeps the two codebases in format-lockstep without the net10 test project referencing the net48 Host assembly. Docs updated: docs/v2/implementation/focas-isolation-plan.md promoted from DRAFT to PRs A-E shipped status with per-PR citations + post-ship test counts (189 + 24 + 13 = 226 FOCAS-family tests green). docs/drivers/FOCAS-Test-Fixture.md §5 updated from "architecture scoped but not implemented" to listing the shipped components with the FwlibHostedBackend gap explicitly labeled as hardware-gated. Install-FocasHost.ps1 documents the OTOPCUA_FOCAS_BACKEND selector + points at docs/v2/focas-deployment.md for Fwlib32.dll licensing. What ISN'T in this PR: (1) the real FwlibHostedBackend implementing IFocasBackend with the P/Invoke — requires either a CNC on the bench or a licensed FANUC developer kit to validate, tracked under #220 as a single follow-up task; (2) Admin /hosts surface integration for FOCAS runtime status — Galaxy Tier-C already has the shape, FOCAS can slot in when someone wires ObservedCrashes/StickyAlertActive/BackoffAttempt to the FleetStatusHub; (3) a full integration test that actually spawns a real FOCAS Host process — ProcessHostLauncher is tested via its contract + the MMF is tested via round-trip, but no test spins up the real exe (the Galaxy Tier-C tests do this, but the FOCAS equivalent adds no new coverage over what's already in place). Total FOCAS-family tests green after this PR: 189 driver + 24 Shared + 13 Host = 226. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

FOCAS version-matrix stabilization (PR 1 of #220 split) — ship the cheap half of the hardware-free stability gap ahead of the Tier-C out-of-process split. Without any CNC or simulator on the bench, the highest-leverage move is to catch operator config errors at init time instead of at steady-state per-read. Adds FocasCncSeries enum (Unknown/16i/0i-D/0i-F family/30i family/PowerMotion-i) + FocasCapabilityMatrix static class that encodes the per-series documented ranges for macro variables (cnc_rdmacro/wrmacro), parameters (cnc_rdparam/wrparam), and PMC letters + byte ceilings (pmc_rdpmcrng/wrpmcrng) straight from the Fanuc FOCAS Developer Kit. FocasDeviceOptions gains a Series knob (defaults Unknown = permissive so pre-matrix configs don't break on upgrade). FocasDriver.InitializeAsync now calls FocasAddress.TryParse on every tag + runs FocasCapabilityMatrix.Validate against the owning device's declared series, throwing InvalidOperationException with a reason string that names both the series and the documented limit ("Parameter #30000 is outside the documented range [0, 29999] for Thirty_i") so an operator can tell whether the mismatch is in the config or in their declared CNC model. Unknown series skips validation entirely. Ships 46 new theory cases in FocasCapabilityMatrixTests.cs — covering every boundary in the matrix (widen 16i->0i-F: macro ceiling 999->9999, param 9999->14999; widen 0i-F->30i: PMC letters +K+T; PMC-number 16i=999/0i-D=1999/0i-F=9999/30i=59999), permissive Unknown-series behavior, rejection-message content, and case-insensitive PMC-letter matching. Widening a range without updating docs/v2/focas-version-matrix.md fails a test because every InlineData cites the row it reflects. Full FOCAS test suite stays at 165/165 passing (119 existing + 46 new). Also authors docs/v2/focas-version-matrix.md as the authoritative range reference with per-function citations, CNC-series era context, error-surface shape, and the link back to the matrix code; docs/v2/implementation/focas-isolation-plan.md as the multi-PR plan for #220 Tier-C isolation (Shared contracts -> Host skeleton -> move Fwlib32 calls -> Supervisor+respawn -> MMF+ops glue, 2200-3200 LOC across 5 PRs mirroring the Galaxy Tier-C topology); and promotes docs/drivers/FOCAS-Test-Fixture.md from "version-matrix coverage = no" to explicit coverage via the new test file + cross-links to the matrix and isolation-plan docs. Leaves task #220 open since isolation itself (the expensive half) is still ahead.
