The per-session dashboard event ACL shipped in 693a78d + 7ec0b35 with unit
coverage over a fabricated principal. What a fabricated principal cannot show is
that the group names the shared directory actually returns -- short RDN values,
not DNs -- are the ones Dashboard:GroupToTag keys match. Two [LiveLdapFact]s
close that: gw-viewer binds for real, its GwReader membership grants team-a, and
IDashboardSessionAcl then admits a team-a-tagged session and refuses a
team-b-tagged one; multi-role takes the Administrator bypass. The mapping is
config-side only -- no GLAuth entry, group, or membership was added, and
glauth.md records that explicitly so a future reader does not go looking for a
directory change that never happened.
multi-role is a member of GwReader as well as GwAdmin, so it holds team-a too.
Its bypass is therefore asserted on team-b and on the untagged session -- the two
it would lose if the Administrator branch were ever dropped -- rather than on
team-a, which would pass either way.
One cheap hardening from a prior review: a GatewayOptionsTests case binds
Dashboard:GroupToTag through a real ConfigurationBuilder and looks the group up
mis-cased. The property initializer seeds an OrdinalIgnoreCase dictionary, but
only the binder decides whether that instance survives; if it did not, a
mis-cased group name from the directory would grant no tags and the ACL would
deny with no diagnostic.
Docs follow the shipped shape: docs/Sessions.md gains the session-tag model
(owner-key sourced, immutable, visibility-not-access), gateway.md and CLAUDE.md
gain the ACL in their dashboard-auth paragraphs, and three
GatewayDashboardDesign.md passages that still described the ACL as outstanding
now describe both gated seams and the decision order. GatewayConfiguration.md's
ShowTagValues row no longer claims the redaction is the only thing between a
Viewer and another session's values -- it is now the second of two independent
layers. gateway.md's hub-token lifetime corrected 30 minutes -> 5, matching
HubTokenService. Authentication.md disambiguates --dashboard-tags as the only
constraint flag that splits on commas. The plan doc header is Implemented; its
as-built section 12 already existed and is not duplicated.
Verified: NonWindows.slnx builds clean; GatewayOptions/DashboardSessionAcl/
EventsHub filters 37/37; the live-LDAP suite skips cleanly without the env var
and runs 7/7 green against the shared GLAuth with it.
Resolve all CommentChecker findings across the gateway server, worker, tests,
and .NET client (314 -> 0 real issues): add missing <returns>/<summary>/<param>
on public and test members, convert Stream/interface overrides to <inheritdoc/>,
and remove internal task/issue tracking IDs (SEC-*, IPC-*, WRK-*, GWC-*, TST-*,
Client.Dotnet-*) from shipped code documentation while preserving the design
rationale prose. Shipped comments should not carry internal bookkeeping, and
complete XML docs keep the analyzer/TreatWarningsAsErrors gate and generated API
docs clean. The 6 remaining flags are heuristic false positives (MD5, UTC-4,
capacity-1, near-1601) left intact so real documentation is not corrupted.

Follow-up to the IPC-02 proto change and IPC-03 headroom default:
- regenerate clients/proto/descriptors/mxaccessgw-client-v1.protoset with the
pinned protoc 34.1 so it carries GatewayHello.max_frame_bytes (IPC-01 descriptor
refresh; ClientProtoInputTests.Descriptor_ContainsEveryContractMessageAndField).
- update GatewayOptionsTests design-default assertion to 16 MiB + 64 KiB reserve.
SEC-07: add QueryActiveAlarmsRequest -> events:read scope arm; fix two tests that
constructed StreamAlarmsRequest instead of QueryActiveAlarmsRequest.
SEC-05: shorten hub-token lifetime 30m -> 5m; document that the ?access_token= query
carriage must never be request-logged.
SEC-08: gateway-side CachingApiKeyVerifier (short TTL, keyed on a hash of the presented
secret) skips the per-call store read+last_used write; CoalescingMarkApiKeyStore bounds
last_used writes to <=1/key/min; identity constraints are cached. Invalidation is wired
at the gateway admin sites (revoke/rotate/delete); short TTL backstops out-of-process CLI.
SEC-11: fixed-window rate limit on POST /auth/login + a per-peer (key-id) failure limiter
checked before VerifyAsync; new MxGateway:Security options bound + validated.
Also fixes regressions from the SEC-01/04/06 commit (c185f62) that a narrow test filter
missed (all now covered by a full-suite checkpoint):
- Rooting check is cross-platform: accepts Windows C:\/UNC forms on Unix so the shipped
appsettings path validates on the macOS dev box, still rejecting bare filenames.
- AddGatewayConfiguration TryAdds a non-production IHostEnvironment fallback so the validator
resolves in minimal test/tooling containers; the real host + apikey CLI register the actual
environment first (TryAdd no-op there).
- Test assembly defaults ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT=Development (ModuleInitializer) so full-host
tests exercise wiring instead of tripping the SEC-04/06 production guards.
- GatewayOptionsTests asserts the SEC-01 CommonApplicationData-derived default (platform-correct).
archreview: SEC-07/05/08/11 (P1). Verified: NonWindows build clean; full gateway suite
747 passed / 42 failed, where all 42 are the pre-existing macOS named-pipe-harness failures
(Unix-socket path limit) and 0 are validation/regression failures.
Adds WorkerReadyWaitTimeoutMs to SessionOptions (default 0 = disabled),
validates >= 0 in GatewayOptionsValidator, documents it in
GatewayConfiguration.md, and adds validator + default-value tests.
No wait/poll logic is implemented here (that is Task 8).
Add MaxEventSubscribersPerSession (value 8) to the Sessions block of the
Configuration Shape JSON example in GatewayConfiguration.md, matching the
appsettings.json default the options table already documents. Assert both
MaxEventSubscribersPerSession (8) and MaxPendingCommandsPerSession (128)
defaults in GatewayOptionsTests.OptionsBinding_UsesDesignDefaults.
Standardize the dashboard role VALUE on the canonical six: Admin→Administrator
(Viewer unchanged). Pure value rename via DashboardRoles.Admin constant +
appsettings GroupToRole; the GatewayOptionsValidator allowed-set/message track
the constant so they now require 'Administrator' or 'Viewer'. Enforcement is
unchanged — Administrator authorizes exactly what Admin did.
Dashboard roles are derived at login from LDAP groups via GroupToRole and are
never persisted to the SQLite auth store, so no DB migration/seed change.
UNTOUCHED: the separate gRPC API-key scope GatewayScopes.Admin = "admin"
(lowercase) and every "admin" scope literal — a distinct data-plane system.
Restructure dashboard auth around LDAP-driven Admin/Viewer roles, add a
bearer scheme so SignalR hubs (next commit) can authenticate without
forwarding the HttpOnly browser cookie, and mount the dashboard at the
host root instead of a configurable `/dashboard` prefix.
Configuration changes (breaking):
- `MxGateway:Dashboard:PathBase` removed — the dashboard now serves at `/`.
- `MxGateway:Dashboard:RequireAdminScope` removed — role checks replace
the single admin-scope claim.
- `MxGateway:Ldap:RequiredGroup` removed — replaced by `MxGateway:Dashboard:GroupToRole`,
a map from LDAP group name to dashboard role. Legal role values:
`Admin` and `Viewer`. Users whose LDAP groups don't intersect this
map are rejected at login (the existing fail-closed contract).
- appsettings.json ships a default mapping `{ GwAdmin: Admin, GwReader: Viewer }`.
Auth model:
- DashboardRoles: new static class with `Admin` and `Viewer` constants.
- DashboardAuthenticator.AuthenticateAsync: after LDAP bind, maps the
user's groups through `DashboardOptions.GroupToRole` and emits one
`ClaimTypes.Role` claim per resolved role. Empty result → login fails.
- DashboardAuthorizationRequirement now carries `RequiredRoles`; static
presets `AnyDashboardRole` (Viewer ∨ Admin) and `AdminOnly`.
- DashboardAuthorizationHandler checks `IsInRole` against the
requirement's role list instead of the old scope claim. The
`AuthenticationMode.Disabled` and `AllowAnonymousLocalhost` bypasses
are preserved.
- DashboardApiKeyAuthorization.CanManage now requires the `Admin` role
(was: required LDAP group membership). The constructor's IOptions
parameter is gone.
Policies / schemes:
- DashboardAuthenticationDefaults gains `ViewerPolicy`, `AdminPolicy`,
`HubClientsPolicy`, and `HubAuthenticationScheme`. The legacy
`AuthorizationPolicy` and `ScopeClaimType` constants are removed.
- DashboardServiceCollectionExtensions registers all three policies,
adds the cookie scheme and the HubToken bearer scheme side by side,
calls `AddSignalR()`, and hard-codes the cookie's login/logout/denied
paths to root-relative `/login` etc.
Hub bearer infrastructure (no hubs wired yet — next commit):
- HubTokenService: mints time-limited data-protected JSON tokens
carrying the user's name, NameIdentifier, and roles. 30-minute
lifetime, purpose `ZB.MOM.WW.MxGateway.Dashboard.HubToken.v1`.
- HubTokenAuthenticationHandler: validates the token from
`Authorization: Bearer …` or `?access_token=…` (WebSocket upgrade
query string) and rebuilds the principal.
Endpoint mapping:
- DashboardEndpointRouteBuilderExtensions drops the `MapGroup(pathBase)`
wrapper. Login/logout/denied and Razor component routes are now
mounted at `/`. The login form posts to `/login`. Razor components
require the new `ViewerPolicy`.
- All page `@page "/dashboard/X"` dual-route directives are removed —
pages live at their canonical roots (`@page "/"`, `@page "/sessions"`, …).
- App.razor and DashboardLayout.razor drop their PathBase computations.
EffectiveLdapConfiguration drops `RequiredGroup`; EffectiveDashboardConfiguration
drops `PathBase`/`RequireAdminScope` and gains `GroupToRole`. SettingsPage
renders the role mapping in place of the retired fields.
Tests updated:
- DashboardAuthenticatorTests: covers the new GroupToRole mapping
(short name + DN + multi-role).
- DashboardAuthorizationHandlerTests: split into Viewer-policy and
Admin-policy cases.
- DashboardApiKeyAuthorizationTests, DashboardApiKeyManagementServiceTests:
authorized principal now carries the `Admin` role claim.
- DashboardCookieOptionsTests: expects root-relative login/logout paths.
- GatewayApplicationTests: dashboard component routes registered at `/`,
`/sessions`, … and gated by `ViewerPolicy`. Filter on
`ComponentTypeMetadata` to ignore minimal-API endpoints sharing `/`.
- GatewayOptionsTests + Validator: drop PathBase / RequireAdminScope /
RequiredGroup assertions; add a `GroupToRole` value-validation case.
- DashboardLdapLiveTests: provides the default `GwAdmin` → `Admin`
mapping so the live LDAP bind resolves to a role.
Verification: 473 server tests, 275 worker tests (+9 dev-rig skips), 18
integration tests (live MxAccess + LDAP + Galaxy) all pass.
This commit is intentionally UI-neutral. The sidebar layout and the
SignalR hubs that consume the new HubToken scheme land in a follow-up.

Apply the ZB.MOM.WW. prefix to all gateway-side projects, folders,
.csproj/.sln contents, C# namespaces, using directives, generated proto
C# (csharp_namespace + checked-in generated files), InternalsVisibleTo
attributes, project-name string literals (LoadProject, .sln lookups,
worker exe paths, staticwebassets manifest), and the install/script/doc
references that point at any of the above. Migrate the solution from
.sln to .slnx via `dotnet sln migrate` and delete the old file.
External-runtime identifiers are intentionally NOT prefixed so external
configuration keeps working:
- GatewayMetrics.cs MeterName ("MxGateway.Server")
- DashboardAuthenticationDefaults Scheme/Policy ("MxGateway.Dashboard")
- GatewayRequestLoggingMiddleware logger category ("MxGateway.Request")
- StaRuntime thread name ("MxGateway.Worker.STA")
- appsettings.json root section "MxGateway" + env-var prefix
MxGateway__... and secret-name MxGateway:ApiKeyPepper
- C:\ProgramData\MxGateway\ data dir paths
Also fixes two tests that were not rename-related but became visible
while validating the rename:
- WorkerLiveMxAccessSmokeTests.ShutDownAsync: cancellation that the
gateway service correctly maps to RpcException(Cancelled) per gRPC
convention was being misclassified as a stream fault. Added a sibling
catch on RpcException with StatusCode.Cancelled.
- IntegrationTestEnvironment.ResolveRepositoryRoot: extracted IsRepositoryRoot
and made it accept either a .git marker OR a .sln/.slnx next to src/
so the worker-exe walker works in non-git working copies.
clients/proto/proto-inputs.json's protoRoot updated to point at
src/ZB.MOM.WW.MxGateway.Contracts/Protos.
Verified by `dotnet build` and a full `dotnet test` of the .slnx with
MXGATEWAY_RUN_LIVE_{MXACCESS,LDAP,GALAXY}_TESTS=1:
Tests: 472/472 pass
Worker.Tests: 280/280 pass (4 dev-rig [Fact(Skip=...)] skipped)
IntegrationTests: 18/18 pass
